The cinematography is similar, both about gay men and their struggle surrounding relationships, particularly platonic relationships.

Both movies focus on the aftermath of a fathers, who had multiple partners, death and how all the parties deal with it and get closer in the process. Fagara focuses more on the relationship between the different children of the father while Dear Ex follows the two partners. In both films we only ever see the father in flashbacks. Also.. both movies are incredibly beautiful and touching and i cried lots!

Don't worry. It's just not that their names are similar.
Both films are based on the same premise where the boyfriend of a deceased man gets involved with the family of the latter and more particularly focuses on the relationship between the boyfriend and the son of the dead partner.
Also, both depict the consequences of prejudice and pressure against the homosexual community while beautifully capturing the raw essence of Taiwan.

Both of them explore how the three main characters have been affected by the death of a loved one. In the case of "180 Degrees," it shows how the (ex) wife, the son, and the (male) friend have coped with the absence of their husband/dad/former crush and how his absence has also influenced the dynamics and relationships between the three main characters. Similarly, in "Dear Ex," we see how the wife, son, and (male) lover are coping with the death of the person they loved, and we get to see how his death brings them together, thus forcing them to learn more about the other while reminiscing the memories they have of the person they lost.

Both "180 Degrees" and "Dear Ex" also address LGBTQ + topics since the person who dies in both stories is a queer man who ends up marrying a woman and having a son with her to keep up appearances despite being in love with another man.

In both films, the child of a queer parent unearths their parent's queer past by leaving home and, in doing so, changes the relationships around them in the direction of healing.

Both films will tackle about a custody that they are fighting. As well as two LGBTQ people who are doing their best to have a strong and beautiful communication. Both the moms on the movies are fighting for their child.

They approach the topic of grief quite differently (Make Up has more genre/mystery elements, Dear Ex is more drama), but both are about queer characters dealing with a lover's death.

Both movies start off with the death of a father and (ex)husband. They then also show the interactions between the ex wife, the new lover, who stuck with him until he died, and the child. Other than that theyre also both movies from Taiwan available to watch on Netflix.

Both deals with LGBTQ relationships where one of the lead dies.
In "Dear ex " the died person has written a will where all his properties goes to his lover .This leads to quarrels between the wife and the lover.
In Paradise of thorns ,the property goes to the mother of the diseased. This leads to quarrels between the lover and the mother .paradise of thorns is set to release on aug 22 .I will make additions then.my observations are based on the trailer for paradise of thorns
