Strong Woman Do Bong Soon (2017)

Great comedy & Romance

I don’t like silly dramas that are full of slapstick style over the top physical comedy. That being said, the comedy in this drama is pure gold. It’s very funny. I was laughing all the time watching this. I like that the drama doesn’t take itself too seriously and stays light hearted throughout the drama. There’s just enough angst and plot depth to keep you interested but not so much that it loses it’s light hearted feel and hilarity. It’s popularity and high ratings are well deserved.

As far as romance goes, the main leads have some of the best chemistry I’ve ever seen onscreen. (In fact the male lead admitted to having a crush on the female lead in real life. She wasn’t available at the time but now that she’s available he’s in the military.) There’s lots of steamy kisses, hugs, flirting, and cuddling here for those that are into skinship. The way the female lead flirts with and teases the male lead until he’s all tied up in knots is just too adorable. And if you’re into height difference couples you’ll be pleased because she’s so tiny compared to him he calls her his peanut.

Her “powers” are a bit far fetched and not very believable. But that’s part of the charm of this show, it’s not supposed to be believable or realistic. It’s just super funny and cute. This tiny little girl is such a feisty little fireball, you can’t help but love her and her courage and strong sense of justice.

It starts out funny but gets a little serious when a man starts kidnapping women and the female lead thinks she may be able to identify him. Then there’s the whole mystery of who is threatening the male lead and why. And of course a love triangle forms. So there’s more to the story than just comedy and romance.

Overall I really loved this drama and have already rewatched it mainly for the comedy and romance. I wish there more dramas like this that does such a good job with both comedy and romance. Don’t skip this one, it’s a really good drama.

Resenhas sinceras para ninguém criar expectativas

Acho que todo mundo que começou agora no mundo dos Doramas, ou já tá até mais um tempinho nesse universo, ouviu falar de Mulher Forte, Do Bong Soon.

Comigo não foi diferente, sempre vi muitos edits e várias pessoas dizendo que era um dos melhores e que eu deveria ver. Pois bem, foi o que fiz, talvez eu tenha criado expectativas demais e por isso não gostei tanto do dorama ou realmente o dorama é algo mediano mesmo e as pessoas amem pelos atores sla.

(Parte sem spoilers) É um dorama legal para passar o tempo, é engraçadinho, tem um triângulo amoroso, um mistério. O problema é que nada foi realmente desenvolvido e o roteiro tem algumas falhas, então não vá ver achando que é um dorama incrível cheio de história e ensinamentos, pois não é.

Sinceramente pessoas, é muito CHATO esse triângulo amoroso que o dorama nos apresenta e o fato deles enrolarem tanto nisso, fez com que cenas do casal principal fossem perdidas. Isso me deu a impressão que o romance deles surgiu do nada, da parte da Bong Soon pelo menos foi o que pareceu. Eles só vão ficar juntas lá pelo ep 12 e isso tira muito a graça da coisa toda.

Outra coisa que me incomodou foi os poderes da Prota, o dorama diz que se ela usasse os poderes dela pro mal eles iam ser retirados dela. Porém, em dois momentos ela machuca alguém inocente, sendo que não era a intenção dela, e apenas em uma vez os poderes dela somem. Além disso, os flashbacks que mostram como a mãe dela perdeu os poderes dão a entender que perde-los não ocorre de uma vez e sim é um processo. Por isso, o fato da Bong ter perdido os dela atoa e de uma vez não me desceu.

Mais um fator que não gostei no drama foi o final extremamente corrido. Eles podiam ter resolvido o mistério/problema muito antes e deixado o final só pro casamento dela com o prota (que também foi mt corrido) e outros acertos de conta. Tipo a família do Prota que queria q ele assumisse a empresa e no meio do drama eles tiverem um desentendimento e sumiram, fingiram que nem existia mais.

No geral essas foram as coisas que mais me incomodaram. É um drama legal, mas nada surpreendente e maravilhoso como a Dramalend pinta.

Lo adoro

Forse ad oggi il mio drama preferito, perfettamente bilanciato in ogni sua parte. Ok, ammetto che la protanista femminile l'ho amata meno del protagonista maschile (MinMin), ma lui l'ho adorato così tanto che da solo bastava a mettere in cima questo drama. Lo rivedo spesso e lo trovo sempre bello. C'è commedia, azione, un pizzico di soprannaturale, diverse trame che si intrecciano nel modo migliore, un triangolo amoroso per niente fastidioso (cosa rarissima), la coppia principale è adorabile e il loro raporto di dipana nel modo giusto, e anche i personaggi secondari hanno i loro momenti in cui brillare. Veramente uno dei drama che amo di più, è proprio ciò che cerco in un drama, ha veramente tutto ciò che mi piace.

This was one of the very first K-drama's I started to watch and how I got started watching K-dramas, was literally just flicking through Netflix after work and just happened to click it and start the show! Who knew that it would be one of my favourites after!

I love how Park Bo-Young portrayed this really strong women, who just wanted to help everyone around her, and then Park Hyung-Sik, was this like rich person who needed like protection! - Such a interesting twist in roles!

Definitely really enjoyed it and would - and loved how like light-hearted it was and Kim Won-hae, I loved his character, I feel like I see this actor in a lot of dramas but thought he was just hilarious in this role, both him and the secretary Jeon Seok-ho were both so funny!

I miss this drama! Right after I finished it I didn't rate it as high but I miss it and there is a chance I will rewatch this drama. Do Bong Soon is one of my favorite drama characters in awhile. I love her for her strength and her relationships, and being relatable for being average (other than her hidden strength). I also think she has the cutest cry ever. The male leads are both great too. They are such opposites but I enjoyed them both. I love In Gook Doo's passion for his job and his desire to help people. I love that Ahn Min Hyuk is very strong and capable but at the same time is very sensitive and needy. The writers amazed me at how they made this drama jump seamlessly from comedy to thriller to a fluffy romance. I truly enjoyed this drama even though a lot of it was comedic nonsense and very predictable. I would not want it any other way! I am not sure if this is true but I watched it on Netflix and I was informed that Netflix changed some of the music. I hope that is a lie because Netflix should just leave dramas alone especially since one of the reasons I love Asian dramas is the music!

without Park Hyungsik this would have been a total flop

the concept was nice, there were some good jokes in there, and the chemistry between Park Hyungsik and Park Bo young was out of this world.

HOWEVER some jokes were way too disrespectful and I think without these I would have enjoyed the show so much more. also the plot was all over the place, I kind of decided to act like some characters weren't there and completely dismissed their storylines on purpose for selfcare (the whole gang, monk, and gay stereotypes plotlines to name a few) only to find out they weren't useful for the main plot anyway.

tbh Park Hyungsik's acting made it bearable let's be real, and if it weren't for the good mood he sets everytime he's on screen I would have probably not even given episode 2 a chance.

Usually I'm not a huge fan of kdramas that have such an obvious love triangle, but this one was really cute. The plot was kinda all over the place, and there were subplots left open. Despite all of its this, one thing this drama had going was its cast. I love the different characters. From Min Hyuk to secretary Gong to all the guys at Baek Tak Party. Everyone really played their role well. The one character I really didn't like was Bong Soon's mom. The definition of TOXIC. I really hated the way she treated Bong Soon and her husband.

Now onto the plot..
Where do I even begin? Although it was very entertaining, I feel like they tried to add too much in the plot. They should've left certain subplots out, if they weren't going to finish them. For example, Bong Gi and Hee Ji both clearly having feelings for each other, but not ending up together. Another one that I didn't get was Bong Soon going back to being an "intern" after she worked so hard to get into the development team. I get that she was trying to save the world or whatever, but she only became a bodyguard so she could work towards being on the development planning team. It was weird how Min Hyuk's family was never brought up again after they found out who was threatening him. Towards the end, the plot became too predictable. The comedy was good, but I didn't like how they kept switching back and forth from comedy to crime. It was a bit too messy, and the plot could've been much better than it was.

Bong Soon and Min Hyuk's relationship was really cute, a bit cringey at times, but their chemistry was good. The same goes for Bong Soon and Gook Do. One more thing I would like point out is that the brand deals/advertisements were soooo obvious. Like when Bong Soon gets Gyeong Shim the shampoo as a gift and she wants to talk about how nice it smells after she was almost abducted like??? I feel like this drama had so much potential, but they tried to do too much.

I just finished the last episode of Strong Girl Bong Soon and was entertained all the way through. Kudos to the screenwriter for making this zany comedy funny, without being corny, romantic without being syrupy sweet, and scary enough without being overtly horrifying. On top of it all, it doesn't take itself too seriously with several laugh-out-loud moments to to reflect that.

What I love about Bong Soon is that she is a down to earth super hero who, rather than flaunt her strength, tries her very best to hide it, preferring to be more of a guardian angel than donning a ridiculously tight spandex suit with the letter "B" affixed to her chest. She cares deeply for her friends and family and isn't afraid to take risks to save them. She is cute with a quirky sense of style, and can easily pass for the girl next door. No drop dead, gorgeous vixen here. Even so, she manages to catch the eye of two very handsome young men, who try their best to be her number one.

The supporting cast was equally strong, making her look even better. All cast members felt fleshed out and human, and you cared about them all. It was a well put together cast of very talented people. I was very pleased with this production. I like a comedy that can be funny without being ridiculous.

Everything, everywhere and all at once

When I watched it I felt that it somehow separated into several storylines, but I couldn't get the point why they continue to exist in the overall story. Tbh the drama, despite the high rate and always being recommended seemed like a huge mess to me. I couldn't watch it as a pure comedy, not only because the slapstick and body humor of the drama were not funny to me, but also because of the thriller line that existed in the story, I don't mention the "family situation", which connected Min Hyuk and Bong Soon. Same as with other parts, I couldn't watch it as pure thriller, because slapstick was shoveled in.

Stalking of Min Hyuk and his need of a bodyguard was obvious, especially in the story it connected him and Bong Soon. Thriller played a role with Bong Soon's power. But what was the point of those gangsters? To laugh at their overacting? THAT made you laugh? Ok. Then I'm the part of viewers who don't get that type of humor.

The series started well. The adorable Park Bo Young is as cute as ever, with her being petite she is well-fitted for the cute contrast - someone small, but can kick ass, a true King Kong Barbie. This humorous part was fun to watch and my main motivation to finish the series. But I talk the contrast of her action moments. I think watching the two main leads was the best part of the drama and my favorite scene was when she princess hugged him :)
Park Hyung Sik (never watched anything with him before) surprised me a lot. Although his behavior was cheesy, but he was adorable when he acted cute. Like a little milk dog brother and his overpowering girlfriend. But to me they fitted well.
But couldn't care less about many other secondary characters and that's the gist of it. Many played okay.

STORY was kinda very contrasting in terms of jumping from something light and humorous to a bloody thriller. I don't say there should be no cross-genre, it just felt really extreme in contrast. But it's a bit obvious that it was created for a reason and purpose. After all Bong Soon is someone who is filled with justice and she gets involved in this case. After all we need some setting that will allow her to achieve her dream - live a "normal" life. But is that normal life actually what she wants.
ROMANCE. Not mad that Bong Soon doesn't start as a blank canvas, she has her unrequited love, but in comparison feels more open with a person who knows about her powers and also this someone rushes to protect her, despite her being that powerful. They have this openness about each other, but also reliance she never felt before.
OST. For some reason I wasn't the fan of music or sound effects of this show. Beats me, but it also influenced my dropping impression.
As for comic relief gangsters. These I could do without. They lowered the quality of this show a lot to me. Like why would you drag them, who cares about them? To get beaten again and again, what's so funny? When they switched to those guys I started to skip their parts in later episodes.

It has such high ratings and I understand that many found it worthy. Partially, it is fine to watch it. Honestly, I watched just for two Parks :) It's all personal opinion.

And desppite some criticism on my side, I'll be happy to watch the sequel.
