I marathoned this drama, I didn't watch it week to week, so I probably got different feelings from it then the other viewers. I enjoyed every moment of this drama - it never got boring or draggy for me. The sound effects were great most of the time - sometimes they were over-used (tvN likes to over-do sound effects sometimes though). Even though this drama deals with a serious topic like cancer - it delivers it in a more "peaceful" way then a melodrama way - it was easy enough to watch and I only cried a few times. Plus I liked how the ending was telling viewers to never give up hope & live life like it's a miracle - b/c every moment is a miracle. :D

The entire cast did a great job - every once in awhile I could see some over-acting going on (but I think the directors wanted it that way, so I won't complain b/c it did come across as comical that way). Lee Yoo Ri did great in her role as Cha Mi Rae, super hilarious & yet stubbornly proud... she played out every emotion perfectly! Cheers to her! I hope to see her in more dramas like this, rather than her usual "villain" type roles she's known for in her other dramas. Lee Dong Gun was great as Han Yeol, a very naïve and somewhat stupid loving man, I liked him but I also got annoyed by his "I'm going to throw everything away for love" type attitude he displayed at least 4xs on the show. Lee Re was awesome as Sa Rang "love" - it's my first time seeing this little girl on a drama and I can't wait to see more of her!

I can't forget the side characters like Seo Jun Yeong as Dr.Shin (I love this actor seriously!) <expect an article about him in the future> He always amazes me with his roles and he's SOOOO CUTE ?.? (I personally think he's a mix of So Ji Sub & Kim Rae Won) anyways - his character was fun to watch as the cute clumsy doctor who had a crush on Mi Rae (his sunbae) their interactions were adorable ^-^ Seo Ye Ji as Ji Hye is also a new face to me (I think she's pretty but has an odd voice) - she was overly comical - sometimes annoying but I did laugh several times with her "over-acting" - so I guess it worked lol.

All the baseball teammates did good playing their roles - especially: Choi Min Sung, Park Joo Hyung, & Choi Dae Cheol -

The music was EXCELLENT! I loved every song - my favorite was "Meaning of You" by IU - followed by: "Yolo Man" by Jung Dong Ha, "Because of You" by SPICA, & "It Hurts, It Hurts" by Lim Jeong Hee, other songs that were good but not my favorites: "Mirage" by Changmin & "?" by MIII

I would definitely re-watch this drama & I do recommend it for marathoning ^-^

This is a decent drama. It was a little drawn out and could have been done in less episodes. Also, some of the sounds used started to get on my nerves. I know people think it's cute, but I don't. There are some really nice romantic moments and the family dynamic is sweet. There are a lot of useless characters. Some of the dialog is excellent and then there are times when it made me want to tell them to shut up. There are plenty of Korean cliches including the annoying "selflessness". It does convey a lot of different emotions through out which to me is appropriate. I like how the writer is trying to convey the message to live life to its fullest. Overall, it is just like the rating I gave, a mediocre drama.

Lee Yoo Ri is now one of my favorite actresses. She is perfect as Mi Rae playing both silly and a person in pain. Lee Dong Gun is cute and manly as Han Yeol. Lee Re is also adorable as Se Rang. They had good chemistry together as a family.

Most of the music is good.

I won't ever rewatch this.

I recommend this drama, but don't expect anything outstanding.

TL;DR? Irritating and a tad too drawn out, there is still a little gem of a story here that might be worth your time. If you have the patience!

I don't really do dramas where lead characters find out they're terminally ill. That just sounds like a recipe for heartbreak, and I try to avoid that when at all possible. In fact, I think the only other drama that I have intentionally watched with a similar story line would be Scent of a Woman, and that drama handled the sad material way better than this drama did.

Sa Rang, the daughter of the terminally ill woman in this drama was absolutely freaking amazing. In fact, I'd hazard to say that she is one of the best child actors that I have ever seen. Her character was so strong and yet impossibly adorable. If I could guarantee that I could have a kid like her, I might consider procreating. Both of the main leads in this drama started out incredibly annoying, Mi Rae moreso than Yeol. They were both childish and insufferable at times, and it took quite a few episodes for either of them to grow on you. But once you get a couple of episodes in and Mi Rae stops being so overbearing, they both really start to grow and shine.

However, no matter how much Mi Rae grows on you, she is still an odd combination of awful mother and really good mother. I mean, it's obvious that Sa Rang is loved, and maybe this is a cultural difference, but they just let her wander wherever she wants to go. She is ten years old and is left to her own devices for a vast majority of the time.

Story line wise, this show dragged a lot. I think it could have seriously benefited from a 10 or 12 episode length rather than 16 episodes. They would set up these really great plot points, and then utterly destroy them by the end of the episode. And all of the back and forth was just infuriating. Make up your mind already, guys!

Did you ever watch that episode of Friends, the one where Phoebe finds out that Monica and Chandler are dating? She wants to get back at them for not telling her and the other sooner, so she and Rachel devise a plan to prank them. As the episode goes along, each party finds out what the other is planning, and it leads to the hilarious "They don't know we know they know we know." It was hilarious for a 20 minute episode, all of the crazy shenanigans. Now, take that same idea, throw in some cancer and instead of 20 minutes, turn it into a 4 episode arc and you have the later episodes of this show. It got beyond tedious.

Another thing that bugged me about this show was the "villain", Han Yeol's boss. He was evil purely for the sake of being evil. And I'm exaggerating with the use of evil there. He was a bad guy, and an absolute jerk, though as villains go he is probably fairly tame. His characterization made no sense, his hatred of Yeol is never satisfactorily explained. It's like the writers knew they wanted to give us an obstacle, but didn't really want to put effort into that character. I like my villains to be a little more nuanced, to give us a little more of a reason for their sudden redemption.

And while all of those feel like legitimate reasons to maybe take a pass on this show, I still think that it is worth the effort! The relationship between Mi Rae, Yeol and Sa Rang, while clunky at times, was an absolute delight to watch. Yeol's smile just absolutely melted your heart, and once you start this drama, you find yourself hard pressed to turn it off and not find out what happens with Mi Rae in the end.

After being a member of MyDramaList for some time now, and thoroughly enjoying reading the thoughts of fellow drama-watchers, finally I’ve decided to take the plunge and write my first review! I marathon-ed this drama, watching it from start to finish in just under a week, and judging from the comments this seems to be quite a key factor in how people view the show.

Apart from the first couple of episodes, which were infuriating to say the least, I was on the verge of dropping the show altogether but surprised myself by becoming increasingly emotionally connected with the characters. Perhaps having a close relative who had cancer meant that I could relate to the emotions being conveyed, but I felt that the writers did a fairly good job of discussing a potentially depressing topic like cancer in a more light-hearted and funny way which engages the audience while still conveying the overall message which is that miracles are not impossible, and the importance of living for today.

While some others have found the storyline to be rather draggy, I was actually quite entertained and thought that the story moved at just the right pace – quickly enough to keep me engaged in the overarching storyline yet slowly enough to absorb the emotions of the characters. Despite the very heavy focus on the lead family, I really enjoyed having quirky supporting characters who really injected some humour into the storyline.

I suppose part of the success of the drama as a whole was the wonderful way in which the cast portrayed the emotions of their characters, and I was especially impressed with Lee Re whose portrayal of Sa-Rang was incredibly real beyond her years. I had seen Lee Dong-gun in the past, and loved the way in which he depicted Han Yeol’s character development towards a caring and considerate family man. Also, I’m not usually one for the music, but the OST of this drama really struck a tone within me and despite finishing the drama several days ago I cannot seem to get the tune of Yolo Man out of my head :/.

I probably wouldn’t rewatch this drama from start to finish, not sure if I could sit through Mi-rae’s incredibly imposing and frustrating behaviour at the beginning although I might rewatch some of the latter episodes. I’d definitely recommend this, especially to those who need a bit of a mood lifter, but make sure you have time for marathon-ing!

I finished watching this drama last week. However, since I have been busy, I could only write a review of this drama today.

This drama actually has an interesting story. I like how it shows the life of a cancer patient in a 'positive' light; how they could still continue with her life cheerfully as long as she is surrounded by her loved ones. Moreover, I also like how this drama touches on the realistic side of life; sometimes something did not go on as how we want them to be. Nevertheless, I think this drama is too draggy. It could be better if this drama could be cut short to maybe 12-14 episodes. I become bored towards the end and end up skipping most of the 'useless' parts.

Acting-wise, I really like how all of the actors and actresses portray their character. I should give 2 thumbs up for that child actress, she is super good. Hope to see her in more dramas in the future!

I recommend this drama to those who are looking for a meaningful family drama. But please be prepared for the draggy scenes.

I don't feel like this drama gets enough credit. I marathoned this drama in under a week and really enjoyed it. Yes, the last 4 episodes, when the story begins to focus a bit more on Cha Mi Rae's terminal illness rather than the family drama, does get a bit depressing, but it *had* to happen. And you know that going into the drama - it says she's terminally ill in the synopsis! The entire story was heartwarming with no severe villain (some people you want to punch in the mouth at times, but in the end, everyone has their redemption). I *did* get a little exasperated with how Cha Mi Rae tried to "protect" Han Yeol and Sa Rang, but she too comes around and realizes her flawed mentality.

Over the course of the first 12 episodes, I fell in-love with each character of the family and wanted the best for them. It was excellent writing because by the time it came to deal with Cha Mi Rae's illness, my heart broke, as it should. I cried for the characters a couple of times for sure. The acting was superb! BUTTTTTT the ending was still happy (NOT bittersweet in my opinion). By the end of this drama, you happily accept that we don't know what tomorrow brings and so don't waste time - embrace those you love while you can. A humbling yet happy message.

I loved that each episode had me laughing and the story didn't get too melodramatic. Sure, some things weren't necessarily realistic, but I wasn't expecting that either (if you watch the trailer, you'd known that this isn't a terribly melodramatic drama). I also LOVED all the comedic sound effects added to many of the scenes - definitely helped lighten the tone and communicate more cheer. :D While some people may have mentioned those noises as being immature and distracting, I found them uplifting and cheerful and they helped balance the sadder concepts of the drama.

The music in Super Daddy Yeol is absolutely mesmerizing! For those of you who are wondering what song Han Yeol's father plays on the saxophone (episode 9) it is called "Lonely People" by Lee Jung Sun (nearly impossible to identify!). I can't stop listening to it and absolutely love it!

I've never seen Lee Dong Gun before this drama, but I really enjoyed his acting. He was wonderful to watch grow from a bachelor to a father.
Lee Yoo Ri was the only reason why I found out about this drama. I still adore her acting! She's amazing! One of my favorites! And so gorgeous! I'd also like to mention that her hairstyle in the second half (the blunt thick bangs) of the drama really reminds me of Jung Eun Ji (in a good way - I adore her too!).
Lee Re also did a great job! I saw her in Come Back Mister first (she's younger here) and even with this being an earlier performance, she did a great job! I can't wait to watch her grow and see her in more mature roles!
Really, all the actors did a wonderful job, but those were my big shout-outs.

Don't let the rating of this drama deter you from giving it a shot. It's a great drama that leaves you satisfied, cheerful, and optimistic. While everything isn't explained and the plot/some characters are flawed, it's genuinely enjoyable. The characters are relatable and FUNNY and they GROW as individuals.

***I would recommend this drama to people who enjoyed Shopping King Louie and Reply 1997.

I don't know if it's the writer or the actresses but the ladies in this show were awesome, unlike the usual fls in these types of dramas Cha Mi Rae was not a pushover, in fact she was an independent confident smart well established career woman that wouldn't let anyone mess with what's hers ;p
and as 2nd fls Hwang Ji Hye was slightly clingy but she was not jealous or obsessive, her clingyness and constant confessions were a result of the ml always casually refusing her because he was "always" in love with the 1st fl.
Sa Rang was as crazy as her mom and Director Hwang is sweet as always~

now, plotwise this was horrible and not just because it's a cliche from 2015 but really nothing made sense and every subplot was there just to move the plot.
the reason for their breakup was worse than a misunderstanding and was pure bs. she didn't have enough "confidence" to tell him so she denied both the father and daughter to be their for each other ever since step1 ;(

Han Yeol was not my favorite type of ml but he was not childish or incapable of taking responsibility and even when the drama started he always seemed to regret not starting a family. and she wasn't even "holding him back" or stop him from "achieving" his goals and dreams related to baseball.
also all throughout the drama they show an accident as if that's the reason they were apart -a stupid accident I might add that happened 2ft away from him, like even if it was poring rain, there's no way one would not notice a freaking truck hitting a person ;/ - she just didn't have confidence!

it's like she had no issues with weirdly forcing him to live as her husband/kid's dad for 3 months as a contract but she couldn't tell him she was pregnant!!! and he couldn't do that math ;/
they only did it to have a plot that says "he chose to be her father even when he didn't know he was her dad". like she was unreasonably selfish for wanting to get him back so she can leave her kid and die in peace and she just kept hurting everyone by wanting to leave over and over and over again it made zero sense.
what's more hurtful? your mom/the love of your life leaving you suddenly because she hates you, or finding out that they are sick and in need of a caregiver?
also what's even worse than both is that after she dumps them and dies they find out that she suffered alone ;/

also the villains were too cartoonish and unreasonable.

and so I HATED the plot, the only thing beside the female characters I liked were some sweet family moments and the fact that the 2nd leads ended up together

the song was nice but they repeated it so much it got on my nerve and I never rewatch stuff :)

I am looking for drama on single parent. Thank to kdramas, vast social, different subjects easily find in kdrama. It seems great cocktail of drama , comedy and romance. The whole drama is about turns in life. When it seen going well, life pretends surprise for you. How you face life, it makes you stronger.

The story it self new in its own way. But there are also some impediment in story. After 10th episode, story hardly hold its path, this also make some twist in drama. Also some characters are not bloomed very well. The role role single mother, social pressure and fear of child being alone well show in this drama.

b4 everything else, the reason i gave the Story rating of 7 is because theres a plothole in the story, but overall story is GOOD,definitely worth a watch if you want to LAUGH yes!!! LAUGH, although the synopsis tells you otherwise because of her illness, trust me writers did the complete opposite. would've given it a higher rating honestly if only the writers didnt have such a "weak" climax, im not saying its bad but they couldve have it better, but still was pretty good. there where unnecessary parts/scene in which im guessing they did it to kinda drag the show a little bit more. I wish the three of them had more "family" scenes and the 2 main leads had more "romance" scenes, overall if you want a drama that will make you cry and laugh, this one is of those.
