Well, it took me by surprise that Mik Thongraya's new "nang'ek" is 42 years old Aum Patcharapa, and that he is a gunman, supposed to kill her. I'm not a fan of 'Love To Kill' stories (my motto is" "Lakorn characters shouldn't use guns.") and also I thought Vill Wannarot & New Chaiyapol did a remake already so we're safe from that for some time. Watching episode 1, I'm afraid I laughed in the wrong places but did not know if I'm seriously going to watch this NINETEEN times. What I did know was that I didn't even want this to turn into romance, and that the tense middle-aged woman with artificial face and the 14 years younger whippersnaper motorbike-boy "killer" with too much facial hair make a terrible couple.

The casting feels wrong on other levels, too. Aum Patcharapa's "fiancee" is portrayed by 10 years younger actor who doesn't look much compatible with her. The main villain (Pete Thongchua) has a weird face like some mishap surgery and cannot act. Once again in unimportant side-role there is the charming Pym Pympan, who by the way is same age as Aum Patcharapa, yet doesn't have her perfectly ironed "forever young" face, therefore I am more at ease looking at her.

I watched (and am still watching;) many trashy lakorns. But I'm afraid this trash doesn't deserve reproach, it deserves to be IGNORED. Therefore, I'm done with this by 1 episode. I forfeit seeing Mik's "hot real kisses" with his plastic aunty... I know, there definitely will be some reviews praising it and calling it "chemistry":D Well, it is a victory of surgery advancement of our times:) And let's not forget many MDL users ARE the korean drama lovers (which is like the plastic surgery kingdom:) So don't mind me.

One of those series that got lucky for having a good director and a great cast.

Plot: 4/10
The start of the series is slow and boring. The latter part has some thrill in it but falls flat in storytelling. It felt like the writer was trying so hard to get some shock value as if telling the audience "Look here, aren't they pitiful? Cry and have some pity. This is what happened to women back then. Horrible isn't it? Here, more tragedy so you can cry for more" - that's how it feels like while watching the series. The entire thing felt like it was "forcing" the audience to feel something for the characters - something that could be done with better writing, without it feeling forced

I have seen similar dramas showing Japanese brutality. I have seen dramas that show the suffering of comfort women but most of them don't feel too forced.

The story just keeps going in circles. There was no depth for the characters as well. I blame it all on bad writing.
And the lines, some lines are too cringe. Again, it's as if the writers wanted a line that will go viral or will be used as a "hugot" line.

Also, the characters felt "too modern" - the way they speak, their looks and overall acting are way too modern (especially Adelina and Teresita)


Acting: 8/10

Barbie(Adelina) doesn't fit well with historical dramas. She has what we call an iPhone face. She looks too modern for that period and let us be honest, even the way she talks sounds too modern.

Dennis(Yuta) carried this drama imo. Yuta as a villain isn't that interesting. His backstory isn't that interesting and even the reason for his actions lacks depth. To be honest, I would prefer it if they didn't give him that sob backstory. There wasn't anything special about Yuta. But Dennis made him interesting. He managed to make Yuta a scary psychopath. He does not need to say any lines, he already looks intimidating just by doing nothing.

David - improved A LOT compared to his previous works. Unfortunately, his character seems to be stuck as Adelina's simp. The story could go on without him.

Alden - His character was the most interesting at the start of the series. Alden's acting made me feel his desperation and his struggle being a peasant - abused by the rich people he works for. Unfortunately, his character also started to become boring in the latter part of the story. The story could also go on without him.

Rochelle(Amalia) - I think she has the most realistic acting, a lot of her lines are cringey though but she is one of those actresses that made me really feel for her character. I wish there was more for her character unfortunately current episode (90) just put her into another horrible situatiion and that gets tiring tbh

Supporting actors - Japanese soldiers - they all did well looking intimidating. I honestly thought they hired real Japanese actors, that's how good those extras were.

The black horse of this series imo is Jay(Akio) - I thought he would be the one who would kidnap Teresita and that he was the main villain. The actor did great looking like a creepy stalker. The actor made Akio look like a complex character.

An Entertaining Watch Indeed!

Antagonism can lead to many things, specifically romance!

SBS’s new weekend offering “Love Scout” gives a dogmatic preview into the life of headhunters, most are perceived as immoral businessmen poaching talented people from well-known firms. That’s the general perception, “Love Scout” breaks into this mold by planting a firm female protagonist, Kang Ji Yun who is popular for scouting talents and helping them transfer to companies where their skills are better appreciated. She does it for money, but she has morals and principles. Like most people, our male protagonist, Yoo Eun Ho (who has just returned to workforce after a paternal leave) mistakes her intentions, he even goes to the extent of antagonizing her; only to land up in soup when circumstances force him to join her company as Ji Yun’s new secretary. The “Enemies to Lover’s” trope is rife and there are sparks flying even when our main leads are arguing. Let’s get down to the business of reviewing!

I was excited to watch this series as it has great reviews and high score feedback. However I had a hard time finishing it. I pushed myself to finish it but I really couldn't do it. The show has a great plot which is obviously inspired from The Man Behind The Iron Mask. However this series lacks the execution of the intrigue and drama. The flow is too slow and the cast are all boringly portraying their characters. The empress looked too old for the emperor who only has two facial expressions. And the emperor looked looked like a twelve year old choir boy who had one facial expression the entire show. None of the women here are exciting. They are too bland. The only great thing in this series is Elvis Han. I guess he portrayed his character well.

I'm sorry but I was really bored watching this show. Not great at all. I wouldn't recommend it.

Disappointing

I fell in love with season 1. The whole group dynamic was amazing. This season, the group dynamic is nowhere near as good. I really tried to watch it and get into it but I just couldn't. Nowhere near as good as season 1. The group dynamic helped me enjoy the show even more. This season just doesn't have it.

For the cast members, Wowkie Zhang and Justin were very irritating and annoying. Justin kept trying to get close to Deng Lun (just how Deng Lun and Wei Da Xun were together in season 1) and it was just annoying. Yang Mi was ok but she did get on my nerves at times. The only likeable cast member this season is Deng Lun and that is why I gave a 2 for cast purely for him.

(In my opinion, they should have waited until everyone from season 1 was available so they could all be together again or have an entirely new group of people to form a bond together. Having a few returning and added a couple new ones just doesn't work in my opinion)

Therefore I am dropping this season.

If a season 3 is made, I really hope that Deng Lun, Wei Da Xun and Xie Yilin are involved as they are the three that make the show so much more enjoyable. The rest of the cast I don't really care about.

Not found interesting

First drama is totally bored but still with patience go for second but nothing found interesting . All the characters were not introduced powerfully the way other drama did ,secondly the male lead character was so loose ,though his character was a play boy but still something is missing . No charm at all . I know I should see few more episodes before giving any view but can't bear more . Starting music is good when drama get started . My expectations more as compared to other historical drama and from male lead ,he is the reason why I decided to watch the drama but ......

So cute Guchijun, So cool Zhangzhehan ❤️

Oh my gosh, "Castle in the Time" is such an amazing drama! I absolutely loved Zhang Zhehan's portrayal of Gu Chijun. He was just so wise and composed, and his acting skills were seriously impressive.

Gu Chijun goes through so much emotional turmoil throughout the series, but Zhang Zhehan does a fantastic job of bringing out every little emotion and detail. His performance really made me feel all of Gu Chijun's joys and sorrows as if they were my own.

But can we also talk about how cute the female lead was? I just adored her character so much! She was such a lovable and relatable character, and I found myself rooting for her throughout the entire series.

All in all, Zhang Zhehan and the entire cast did an incredible job with "Castle in the Time". I can't wait to see what they have in store for us next!

Wonderful performance

Gu Chijun, played by Zhang Zhehan, is a 26-year-old male star who returned to China from Hollywood with great attention. He is domineering and cold, narcissistic, and does not play cards according to common sense. A pair of happy enemies with Xu Zhen. Once Gu Zhijun is determined in love, he will go forward bravely and devote himself to the protection of the person he loves, regardless of his superstar identity regardless of his efforts. When Xu Zhen cares about the gap between the "little assistant" and the "big star", he eliminated everything and took the initiative to approach. When Xu Zhen was in crisis, he sacrificed himself to protect himself regardless of safety.

Dropped Because Of Female Lead

As someone who hasn't watched the Japanese version I wasn't familiar with the story. The FL is so annoying in the first episode. I get her character is supposed to be the determined and excited type but she just comes off as an annoying know it all. She has no regard for her environment and those around her. I absolutely hate her character and can only imagine how much more annoying she gets later on.

There is a twist in the plot

I'm waiting for the drama for a long time since July so I'm very excited to watch it on November because I'm a big fan of kyline alcantara which is one of those cast in this series and I'm actually a Filipino hehehe. I'm so so so ready to watch this and I can't wait any longer cause I think it will be a good drama that has a genre, romantic comedy in short rom com so I'm very excited I think I already said enough if I continue I will be able to say spoiler that I know because I already know much of this drama that you guys don't know... Just kidding its just I'm too excited to watch this so I hope you guys will like it too
