No plot, no fortnite, no nothing
I watched this BL immediately after Between Us cause Prem and Boun have my whole heart. And I know without a doubt that if it wasn't for them I probably would never touch this messy, underdeveloped BL ever again. My main gripe with this BL isn't even the confusing/lazily explained story. I actually thought it was pretty interesting and had some good drama, just not played out well in execution due to lackluster and sloppy story progression. No, my main gripe with this BL is all the side stories. Sun and Athit felt extremely rushed with their romantic plotline and if they're the main couple then that tells you all you need to know about the side couples/plotlines. The boxing couple plotline ends with them kissing and then that's it, no aftermath or epilogue on how they deal with the boxer's father or where they go from there. Were just left to, assume everything goes well I guess.
Now I wouldn't say this BL isn't worth a watch. The plot does have its moments and gets pretty interesting a little further within the series. The setting of the beach was also absolutely gorgeous and I loved the summer and sun aesthetic of the characters. Overall this BL is something I would recommend to someone wanting a summery and beach vibe, just as long as they don't mind their BL with a hefty chunk of clunkiness.

Oh, the vibes were vibing
Between Us is messy, convoluted, and melodramatic. But despite every rule in the book telling me I should never touch this again. The chemistry of Prem (Team) and Boun (Win) was immaculate and made me love Between Us with my whole heart. Not only did they steal every scene, aside from Cooheart, in Until We Meet Again. But this side story series did them the justice they deserved by giving them more time in the spotlight. My only harp on this pair is in episode eleven, when the writers make them bring out that dam guitar and sing each other's emotions. Another critique I would have is how many couples there were. I enjoyed Yacht's (Tul) performance but felt like their story could have been fleshed out a lot more.
But overall to keep it short and sweet, this BL is for those who enjoy their BLs with a handful of melodrama and bedroom pillow talk.

Now why did I have to watch a confession scene on YouTube?
Just to get it out of the way. Having to look for the confession scene on YouTube because it was edited out of the actual show itself is absolutely insane. This would actually have to be my biggest gripe of the show. How awkward and flat out dumb some of the editing choices are. Sometimes a scene lingers too long at the end or it feels like a small chunk of a conversation was missing in the middle of a scene. Or the whole situation with who was The Frog Prince. The whole situation made absolutely no sense to me. Since there was no way The Frog Prince would know about Chol and his issues without it being his step-brother Prab. Not that the equally as awkward acting really helped the editing either. But besides the questionable editing, I would say that I did somewhat enjoy and find entertainment out of this BL. Sure it dragged on a little too long and at the end of the day there weren't as many cute moments between the main leads as I would've hoped. But what we did get was serviceable enough. I would honestly say this is the most mid of BLs one could watch, as the step-brother trope doesn't really come into play until the very last episode when it finally creates drama within the family. And even then it's solved within liked, twenty minutes. So yeah, the most mid of mid BLs. Cannot even hold a candle to other Step-Brother BLs like Stay With Me. I would only watch this if you're a big fan of the trope.

Best Step-Brothers BL I''ve seen
As a fan of the forbidden step-brothers trope, I feel like Unknown is both the best and most realistic BL that tackles this situation. When compared to other BLs like Brothers and Cherry Blossoms After Winter, the character development, specifically the two main character's pasts are well developed compared to the aforementioned BLs. Which makes the viewer much more invested into the lives of Qian and Zhi. The stakes are higher after witnessing and knowing just how close as siblings they are through their shared experiences. Which is why the response of Qian sending Zhi away abroad after having been confessed to is justified and understandable. We see just how hard he has brought up his siblings all on his own and doesn't want to ruin that relationship for a romantic one. Sure, its not the first and only step=brothers BL to do this, its the only one that has shown me why instead of simply saying its because they're step brothers and its wrong.Despite the messy beginnings of their love with Zhi's confession, when their relationship actually begins its very cute. A sweet and rewarding 12th episode showing the two happily together while still keeping their family a loving and caring one was the sweetest of cherries on top. Especially after how dramatic and messy (in a good way) the first 11 were. Overall, if you are not a fan of the step brother's trope, I don't think this BL will convince you. But if you don't mind it and are in the mood for a dramatic BL with strong messaging of family, heartfelt and interesting story, and well thought out characters. Then I would suggest Unknown for you.

Charn's chest is all I want in life
A very dramatic and soap operay BL with a lot of sweet and cute moments near the end. Not really gonna get into details since I think this is worth a watch for any BL fan, as long as you don't mind a couple of slightly awkward drama scenes. But overall I thought the emotional scenes hit extremely well and that the enemies to lovers transition in this BL was done perfectly. For anyone who has seen and enjoyed To Sir, With Love but was disappointed with the lack of actual BL in it. This is definitely gonna catch your fancy. Its also a very digestible eight episodes in length compared to To Sir, With Love's 17.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Uh- What just hapenned?
Honestly, I think both this version and the Thai version have their own merits and their own problems. With that being said I will review this show based on nothing else. And I honestly feel like it was a little too quick for my taste. The two couples don't even become couples until the last minute being the last episode. I genuinely thought the series was going to end on a cliffhanger with a will they? Won't they? Type of situation. Thankfully though, the series does end with things wrapped in a slightly messy bow. But with only eight episodes, I honestly can't blame it too much for this fault. As the drama uses its time wisely, always progressing the feelings both couples have towards each other. When it comes to the actual characters themselves, I found the main couple extremely interesting and entertaining to watch. I thought their dynamic was super cute and even though their enemies to lovers trope does a complete 180, I'm willing to forgive it just this once due to it being so short. The side couple though I found pretty lacking. Just the usual miscommunication drama between them. But even just as characters I couldn't really empathize or care about them as much as the main couple.
Overall I'd suggest this for someone looking for something quick and easy to digest. Without really expecting anything new or groundbreaking.

Hallow and Empty like Yoon Oh's body
Honestly this show falls completely flat for me. It had me hooked in the first couple of episodes when we realize that the MC Peach's friend had passed shortly before he came to visit said friend. It was completely unexpected and had the potential to develop a really unique and heartfelt story. But unlike Ghost House, Ghost House, this show really tries to come for the gut way too early. If I remember correctly it's not even the third episode and we already have a scene of the mother crying and somber music starts to play. In universe, I understand that we are viewing a grieving mother whose just recently lost her child. But as a viewer it felt as if the show was trying so hard to make us cry alongside her ourselves. Which for me at least, was basically impossible since we had only know Yoon Oh for ten to twenty minutes at least. And half of his scenes were of him fighting with his mother.Which he was somehow able to do despite being dead and his mother being unable to see him? Which brings me to my next point. Jimmy's character, Peach despite being the only character to be able to see and interact with Yoon Oh directly. Has absolutely no chemistry with him. Just another aspect of the show that falls flat on its face.
I honestly wanted to drop this show so bad because of its boring story and uninteresting romance, but because I try to complete every BL I see I struggled through it. And now that I have I could honestly say I wouldn't recommend this show to anyone. The only real positive I can say about this show is its production value. So if your in the mood to look at something cinematic and pretty, and completely turn off your brain so that way you have zero expectations walking in, then yeah. You might like Peach of Time.

Season one, but not season one
I will say I like this season a lot more over the first, for one, even with having less episodes the story and development between Kiyoi and Hira runs a lot more smoother and believable here. A weird critique but I really don't care for the visuals in the opening for season 2. I understand that it's trying to convey a more confident Hira with the way he presents himself in the short intro for every episode. But the visuals are kind of dull and not interesting to look at. I don't really know what else I can put since season 2 is more or less the same as season 1.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
THE GIRLS ARE FIGHTING
This BL is an absolute MESS. And not the good drama kind, the story is everywhere, the acting is so awkward, and the ships are sinking. All of the three ships in this show get basically no progression whatsoever. Burger and King felt like an absolute afterthought, not getting any truly dedicated scenes/parts for the two, episodes at a time. And the weird sexual tones of the show gave me the absolute ick. I would've liked the BDSM plot if it wasn't for the actors/characters they're portraying being so young, real HBO Euphoria vibes that just rub me the wrong way. I'll forgive the actors for the awkwardness in their dialogue since they're all relatively young and getting the hang of things. The only reason I finished this BL was because I was enjoying the messiness of it to an extent. The cliffhanger ending being the absolute cherry on top. I hope this BL never gets a second season because I know I would waste my time watching that through to the end as well. And I hope you avoid it at all costs, unless you're feeling masochistic.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
Maybe its a me thing but...
I seem to be in the minority on this one but I actually didn't really personally care for this series. The acting was great and you could really tell that everyone gave it their all while behind the camera. I also enjoyed the unique story/plot that was presented within this series. But for some reason I just couldn't really get into it. It could be because I personally didn't find either of the leads likeable, or just wasn't that interested in seeing their relationship develop when it was already so much of a struggle for it to start.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
A Shoulder to Cry On

Cute, yeah cute
I was able to binge watch this BL in one sitting. Not because it was really good or anything like that, but because I could. A shoulder to cry on had me hooked straight from the beginning. The chemistry between the leads is intoxicating and the cute moments littered throughout the show always put a smile on my face. The last couple of episodes felt really rushed though and I'm extremely disappointed that there wasn't even a single kiss scene within the series. But overall it was still really cute, especially in the last episode where the main leads are finally in a loving relationship together.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Non/New were done dirty and the ending is dumb
While the series did start off a little silly and campy, I actually enjoyed it at face value for what it was. However, when the story starts to backtrack to the past explaining what happened with their old "missing" friend Non. It started to become much more different and interesting from your typical slasher-horror genre. The drama between the group of friends and how the story progresses with Non falling into a deeper and deeper pit of unjust situations helps you as the viewer to empathize with Non and despise the group of friends who all had a hand in his downfall. Mio Athens' character Tan, later known as New, was what I was hoping to be the corrector of said injustice brought upon his brother. With the revenge plot twist investing me further into the plot than I already was. So imagine how disappointing it was to watch the final couple of episodes where it feels like it's all thrown out the window. Like many others, the final episode especially felt extremely rushed to me. The hallucination sequences all felt goofy and ridiculous within the final episode as well. And what really dealt the final blow was the "2 years later" bit of the episode where it ends with the most cliche, uninteresting, and basic "Did they really leave, or was it all just another hallucination?" trick. Super boring and unimaginative. Not only that but the death of Non and New had me more mad than anything else in this show. Tee's uncle just gets away with everything and the family is never avenged, which even if it may be realistic, still leaves a sour taste in my mouth that makes me never want to rewatch this series. Overall I appreciated it most for the middle episodes where I felt the story and writing was strongest, it's certainly given me a lot of Mio edits to watch in repeat. 8/10.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Go Girl! Give us nothing!
I've only watched up until episode seven as of writing this review. So please take that into consideration as you continue reading.First and foremost, this is most definitely not a BL. It has ELEMENTS of a BL, but they're so scarce and non-existent that they practically don't matter. Only adding a little bit of drama alongside other one-sided crushes. Which basically sums up the entire plot of this show. They're all Pearl from Steven Universe. There that's your synopsis. And while there is a key mystery as to who the girl in the film is, its not really addressed throughout the series as much as it should be. One of the characters even mentions that it seems like no one really cares anymore about the mystery. The only time its really brought up in a meaningful manner again is episode seven. Which, honestly wasn't surprising when the new friend to their quartet was in fact...the girl in the video. Now why she hid it or why the teacher is involved is anyone's guess.
I won't sit here and lie it did have its interesting moments but overall this show is just high school relationship drama and it's most basic and immature. Just with the mysterious strawberry girl added in for extra flavor praying it keeps you intrigued throughout the eight episodes. Having said all that I do plan on finishing it, might as well after watching the first seven episodes right? Although I wouldn't have even of started if I knew this wasn't going to be a true BL.
UPDATE; After having finished watching the final EP my opinions have only changed slightly. The reveal of the person who recorded the footage being the female teacher was so obvious I couldn't even pretend to be shocked. And the girl in the video was actually the mother of one of the girls in the friend group. Although the reason WHY the teacher and girl in the video had a falling out I did appreciate. I also do like how each of the characters remained single but were all able to stay friends. Opposite to the teacher and mother's friendship. Honestly could have just been a mini series and it would have been 10X better.

Cute Cute Cute, omg so Cute
While the original series itself had romantic bits and parts, the special episode ups the ante and absolutely drowns the viewer with fan service. It's essentially just a full episode of fan service and cute moments between Zhao and Shun. And I live for every moment of it. I also think just the general idea that Zhao brought Shun to take wedding photos without actually telling him they were wedding photos fit his character so well.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Host Club BL done right, unlike Time the series
Well, time the series did have a half-baked time travel element to it while this show doesn't, but im mostly talking about the shared similarity of both shows settings being a host club.I'd say my biggest gripe with this show was the rushed ending for the side trio. The three characters could have been a lot more developed and would have been really nice to see how the three thrived in the poly relationship. But all we got was a 30 second or so sexualized scene of the three making out and one rushed conversation. That being said, I am grateful for the trio all getting their happy endings with each other. A bold move I genuinely didn't expect them to go with.
Besides that I overall enjoyed this BL. Aside from Time, this is the only BL I've scene which is set in a host club. Which probably goes without saying but really helps with the aesthetics of this show. Deep Night takes this very specific vibe and rubs with it throughout the entire series. With the lighting, set dressing, costuming, it was just really nice to look at is what I'm saying. The actors also all really portrayed their parts well, the only issue being that some of the R18+ felt a little awkward to me. Specifically the hand job and dream sequence scenes near the end. Felt very tacked on just for the sake of having something sexual thrown in when it wasn't necessary at all.
Deep Night is more of a matter over substance BL in general, since it's messaging and story doesn't really bring anything that new to the table. And when it does its near the end or gets very little attention put towards it, like with Ken, Japan, and Seiji. Not to mention Freyja and her girlfriend, whose entire arc got established and solved within two scenes.
So if you're looking for a BL with strong vibes and an appealing cast. By all means, enjoy your visit at Deep Night. I sure did.
