Woah, I didn't expect that ending. A dark twist for what has been a light, comedy series thus far. Ki Tae opts to act fast and be a good guy while Joon Tae shows his true colours. I can only guess where this goes now.

Decent opening episode but not quite as gripping if you don't know what's to come

Style over substance comes to mind when I think of this episode. The director plays around with the substantial reach that has at his disposal - which made for some stunning imagery when it came to the battle scenes. However this lacked a real impactful element to hook me as a viewer. The writing was lacklustre and the acting was too on the nose. This will be ironed out from here on out but it's a criticisim that I have. There are plenty of characters but they packed every backstory into this episode when it would'e benefited rom eing spread out etween Ep.1 and Ep.2. Nevertheless, this showed some potential and I was not bored.

Four Stars

A mix of emotions from the characters. Yang-soon is able to free herself from debt due to a competition that Ki Tae's company is holding but once Ki Tae realises that she's not going to be around anymore, they clash. The fight scene is amazing from the set up to the finish.

A good episode but there was a big tonal and logic gap, unfortuntely. The grandmother died and there was seemingly no inquire about who hit her with the chair from Yang-soon's side. That may come later but it's a big question that's not even asked. However, it did lead to our main characters finally having a connection (a big family loss)

Decent follow up. Jang Kyuk plays the unpleasant rich boy, Ki Tae well. He plays off the innocent Yang Soon well in their interactions. The funniest part of the episode was Yang Soon ignoring the bullies, who are baffled by the response. Kwon Hae Hyo being in this is a treat.

Ep 1: This was a fun episode. It has a quick pace unlike a lot of the dramas from the period, introducing the characters in an interesting manner. The meeting between Ki Tae and Yang Soon is a bit heavy handeded - the rich prince falling out of the sky - but it was cute.

Not everything is clear in this episode. A taller skinny Jung Woo has arrived and is wrapped up in something he's unaware of too. Kang Sook is always manipulating and planning. Hye Soo is torn between jealousy and love for her sister. Ki Hoon is torn as well between the faint chance at a happy families and his loyalties to the winery. Entertaining in many ways.

Eun Jo is ice cold and harsh with her words. She's amazing in every scene she's in. She's more stubborn, driven and nasty but once she gets called "Eun Jo ye", she melts.

Eun Jo's mother contniues who sea of lives and shadiness. I'm not sure what it is all for but it makes me sympathetic to the earnest President Go. The childen continue to argue and Hyo Sun's character gets a bit more interesting. I did think Ki Hoon leaving was rushed though. And the transition for the time skip is awkward. We aren't shown anything of what any character has done during the Time Skip. But that makes for a nice preview for episode 5.

Better

Eun Jo reveals herself to be smart and capable, although not perfect. The relationship with the stepfather starts to improve as the mother and daughter relationship falters. Undoubtedly, the mother is going to be the source of frustration but she is a truly facintating character, who has clearly suffered the brunt of the old fashioned society and their vaules towards single parents. So her desperate ways can somewhat be justified, to an extent.

A tad dull but promising

On one hand, I was ready to punch Hyo Sun with how her character was and peformance behind it, but in contrast to Eun Ju, I'm started to see what the aim was. Perhaps it was too much of an extreme difference for me to praise the portrayal, however. The episode was a little boring in the set up and how the characters were introduced but there is potential with these characters and the story. Moon Geun Young was the stand out star straight away and her alone made me continue on further.

Three Stars

As expected, Joon Soo and Da Ae's relationship is also filed with secrets and mystery. They are linked together through Joon Soo's sister who commited Suicide for some reason that we do not yet know. Joon Soo continues to be an enigma character wise. There are so many different layers to everything he's apart of.This is truly fragmented and split apart. It purposefully blends past and present together with no real distinction other than a few characters.

The Paint Is Starting To Strip

Joon Soo's troubling past ia revealed! It was suspected that he had something to do with his friends death(?) with the evident guilt that he felt. Also who is his sister and why is she a touchy subject for him? Dong Won and Hye Jin's relationship was rocky from the beginning and now its starting to come to the conclusion with Hye Jin's shocking confession. But if the Mistress is anything to go by, he's not going to let it go so easily.

A further glimpse of our main characters

We are starting to delve a little deeper into the pasts of our characters and their motivations. I suspected that Hye Jin and Dong Won were a marriage of neccesity rather than out of love. But even then, there are signs that they were happy with each other. Dong Won is obsessive and a little prickly but not hateable at this point. Da Ae is a mystery at this point but I suspect we're going to find our about her in the next few episodes. This episode belonged to Jong Won, though. The friendly smile of his is clearly masking many painful, twisted array of stories and secrets, including a shocking borderline dangerous friendship with the man, soon to be known as, Sung-gu. Hye Jin's tempted by Jong Won, despite him following her around Japan, but she is hesistant and currently unfufilled by her current life, even before finding out about her Husband's affairs. It'll be keen to see what she decides to do. This is evidetly different than the usual drama structure.

Strong Opening Episode

Basically all you want from a good introductory episode. It captured the dark, unknown atmosphere of the show while giving us a glimpse of our four main characters and what led us upto this point. Why Hye-Jin is trying to die? Does she know about her husband or is there more than meets the eye? Who is Lee Joon Soo? Why does he eventually kill himself, as shown in the first minutes of the show? Why was that revealed to us so early? Questions, questions and more questions.
