favourite dramas of 2024

This might be my favourite watch of the year. the story was intricate, at times complex, but also funny, and cute (yeowoon i will always love you), and then the allegory with the present and how he jsut really didn't feel like living, it had sooo many layers

love, love, love. Accepting queerness in it's most primal form. queer love has existed since the beginning of time, and fighting for that is just such an admiral task, i know not everyone could do it and this is just smth that always gets me

Korea was in their bag this year. Just a great representation of gay man living in korea, over a span of 10 15 years. the personal growth, how he deals with family and lovers, as well as living with HIV. Truly a beautiful yet messy story just to indulge, to take it in and to reflect

queer kids in rural japan in th e90s trying to find themselves, understand themselves and be hHappy. this one is my cryptonite of the year. I have balled and balled, not bcs it was exceptionally sad, bcs i just understand the struggles that come with all of it. And i'm just proud which way they decided to go, bcs that's life and sometimes it's not all rose glasses. I miss them

though provoking piece. Anasthesia and how it is and isn't accepted in a legal context as well as in a societal context. A love that blooms btwn to very opposite positions on the subject intertwined with a murder mystery. A real thinker

This one just finished but the layers. seemingly a highschool drama about 'bad boy' and one of the top students, but it goes so much further than that, bcs haruki is dealing with abuse at home, internalising all of that, and jin seems to be a person where he can let go of that fear. And tehn they're both internalising their feelings for eo and dealing with their gay awaking and so many circumstances affect them to years later. The progression, the character growth and the imagery!! the sea, the novel, the cohesion of the story and these characters amde this truly a delightful 10 weeks.

I love a show with growth and watching this from the pov of a conservative dad, really was smth refreshing. And also getting into every family member's personal story really made this into a well rounded story. 

Hiro i will always love you, you've had it hard, and it wasn't easy to find that balance, to find anything within yourself to keep going for this horrible job, and with kai around life felt a bit more bearible and a bit more fun. 

this was a imprompu watch but it did not dissapoint!! I just love when to working adults are supportive of eo and enjoy being tgt, although it is not always easy to feel good about your own craft when your partner is really growing rapidly in the same field. So much love and understanding. Ups and downs but ulutimately a story about growth and understanding
