My Top 10 BL's Of All Time

The Untamed for me is the ultimate standard of what a BL romance can be. Even though the drama was heavily censored due to china's laws they still somehow managed to make the romance transcend that. Not only is the love story between the characters so realized, but the story is also superbly written. Finally, the music and production is some of the best TV offers, it's the ultimate standard of BL storytelling. 

Stay with Me is one of the best BL series since The Untamed For me, every moment with our characters is so real and beautiful. The acting is stunning, and the romance even behind the censorship manages to take risks to show them even more pronounced. There is a real honesty and love that these two convey on the screen that is so magical and brilliant. From its story of family and its importance and fears of being alone, to its multilayered romance and story of brotherhood, there is something to love about every episode. 

The Eighth Sense gives us a feeling no other Korean series has given to us before, helmed by a German and Koren director this gives us different perspectives that shows so complete in its filmmaking, taking inspiration from series like SKAM lending to it hyper realism and sensitivity. It's a queer story while touching heavily on aspects of mental health not often done in Korea. It's all the more elevated by its superb acting, direction and music choices. Perfection while being flawed but that makes it all the more realistic. It's a series I truly recommend to everyone. A real masterpiece in every sense. 

Semantic Error is a series with endless rewatchability. It's a short series but every episode is perfection, not only with the chemistry between our two leads but with the tight story that's paced superbly well. Critically other series may fair better but this one is so special to me. I love every minute I'm watching and I can rewatch it endlessly. It's that good!

Our Dating Sim is a brilliant little story of two characters reuniting after a past event. While this concept for BL isn't particularly new the way the story is told is so well done and earnest. The two leads make for one unforgettable pairing you will never want to leave behind. Their chemistry is so natural and lovely you can't help but fall in love with this charming BL I could watch over and over again. For me one of the best since Semantic Error.  

We best love was the first ever BL I watched, so this will forever have a special place in my heart. The best thing I can say about the series is the cast, and direction. The actors they have to play these characters have some of the best chemistry I've seen in BL history still to this day. They work so well together you root for them as soon as they show up on the screen, The filming for the series is immaculate,  it has such a different vibe compared to any other BL I've seen. This is a series I always come back to and have vivid memories of it as the pinnacle of BL for the time it came out it was truly above the rest. I still very much view it that way 

My beautiful man eternal is simply masterful. Fully understanding its characters both from a writing perspective and from the stellar acting performances, this gives us another look into the minds of our two deeply flawed and interesting characters in such profound and poetic ways. The filming in this was simply immaculate, creating standout moments I won't forget. This film did everything it had to. Expertly closing the chapter on a couple that has grown and changed in very meaningful ways over one epic journey. Further cementing this couple as a BL titan. 

Cherry Blossoms After Winter is a series, I always come back to no matter how many times I've watched it. The characters are its highlight and its lavish production. I like how the series shows how the characters care for one another is very different ways. Their chemistry is absolutely wonderful and very ahead of the time when it was first released. While a lot of the manhua was condensed to fit its short length they kept the stuff they needed and made a great story. 

This series does an immaculate job of giving every character a sense of place, the two leads having their own complexities and fears about the budding feelings they are having. This 5 episode series is practically perfection. Giving every moment weight and agency in the story. I love how real and raw this series feels from the superb acting from the two leads to its stunning shots.  This story of intense longing is shown in such a breathtaking way giving us one of the most emotional and satisfying payoffs ever. I highly recommend this series. It's one of the best out there. 

A breeze of love masterfully crafts a personal story built on yearning, tension, and introspection. Both the acting and direction are superb leading to its visual storytelling that is hard to find in many BL stories, what I love most about this series is it expects the audience to read its characters rather than just listen to what is being said.  While many of the tropes are not new the execution is precise. Using these tropes to great advantage, especially for its short length.  This overall was immaculate in its execution which for many BL can't say the same.
