Below is an on-going list of Dramas and Films that were produced either fully, or partly in Akita Prefecture! I'm doing my best to compile more titles, so be sure to comment if I've missed any (which I'm sure I have!)

    Filmed in Ogata Village, Akira Prefecture as a regional drama released by NHK.

    Japanese Movie - 2019

    The entire film was shot in Akita. It was filmed in the city of Kazuno, Kamayahama Beach,  in Mitane Town, Akita Port in Akita City as well.  This was sourced from this (https://www.nikkei.com/article/DGXMZO39770270Y9A100C1L01000/) and this (https://www.navitabi.jp/article/2236) article.

    Korean Drama - 2009, 20 episodes

    Parts of this drama were filmed at the Tazawako Ski Resort, in Semboku City, Akita. In 2010, one of the slopes at the resort was named 'IRIS Slope' due to the drama's influence!

    Filmed in Yokote City, Yuzawa City, Ogachi District of Higashinaruse Village, and Yurihonjo City of Akita Prefecture.

    Filmed in Noshiro City, Akita prefecture. 

  • Su-ki-da

    Japanese Movie - 2005

    In scenes from the 17 year old cast were filmed in Odate City, Akita Prefecture, as well the end-roll scenes. 

  • Free and Easy 15: No Tomorrow For Hama-Chan

    Filmed throughout Akita Prefecture in Semboku City including Kakunodate (samurai resident street), Tazawako Town and Nishiki Village. Additionally in Akita City proper with locations at Akita Station, Senshu Park, and with scenes of Kanto Festival. Lastly there are locations in Oga City including Daikoku Island, and Oga Aquarium.

    The film is based in the city of Kakunodate in Akita Prefecture, with locations outside the station and the Kakunodate Higashi High School as well.

    The scenes of a monster in an oil field was filmed in Akita/referenced to be Akita Prefecture.
