Ten Years MDL: Ten Memorable Dramas ❤
November 2022: 10 years on MDL and I made it to this milestone :) This time 10 years ago I had just completed City Hunter my 3rd K-drama and I remember trying to rush through the final episode before my flight to Florida, Orlando for my vacation trip lol. My taste/preferences (and patience) may have changed over the years but my love for dramas have not diminished and a set of habitual watching routines which have never changed from day one. I still mostly watch one drama at a time with a mix of old and new dramas and only watch completed dramas. I'm still fussy and mood dependent with my choices so that hasn't changed xD Over the years MDL community has grown so much compared to when I first joined and now I feel like the old veteran here remembering the time when there were no feeds or custom lists and C-dramas were not that popular. How times have changed. The feeds are a guide for me to see what people are generally watching but mostly I go with my own choices which are not normally in sync with others especially with popular dramas.
(Side note: Jan/Feb 2022 I found my '10 everything' which turned out not to be a drama or movie. I was completely blown away with the Visual Novel The House in Fata Morgana and it's outstanding and mesmerising, deep story and amazing OST. ❤ I don't know what it will take to replace this special number 1. ❤)
I have compiled a short list of ten dramas I have watched from 2012-2022. The ones that have made it to this list are a mix of nostalgic, memorable dramas and a few which are personal favourites.❤

1. Cântec de iarnă
Korean Drama - 2002, 20 episodes
Completed: September 2012
My first K-drama so there's huge nostalgic attachment to this drama which is by far from perfect. I was going through an anime phase from March 2012 to August 2012 and heard about Winter Sonata anime before knowing about the K-drama. Somehow picked up the K-drama first and although it was at times frustrating to watch I was still completely swept away with the story, cinematography and OST. The character Kang Joon Sang stole my heart at the time and have since re-watched the drama a few times but it's been years since I last re-watched it. This was the gateway into K-drama world. My 2nd K-drama was You're Beautiful and forward 10 years on with my honed in preferences I probably wouldn't watch either of these dramas now xD

2. Tatta Hitotsu no Koi
Japanese Drama - 2006, 10 episodes
Completed: January 2013
Another nostalgic one where I loved the male lead's character Hiroto and both him and the male lead from Winter Sonata kinda set the bench mark where I love the quiet, kind and unassuming personality of male leads. Since then I have always been on the look out for quiet, calm, kind male leads which I have discovered are quite rare. The drama is a classic now but at the time I simply loved Hiroto :)

3. Kimi no Te ga Sasayaite Iru
Japanese Special - 1997, 5 episodes
Completed: March 2016
A personal favourite of mine. This drama won me over completely with it's endearing story which portrayed a supportive and loving relationship with a couple who had great chemistry with each other. I'm so glad I found this hidden gem and it's rare to find a drama which met my expectations on what a relationship should be about and the realistic struggles people have to overcome.

4. Battle of Changsha
Chinese Drama - 2014, 32 episodes
Completed: September 2016
A rollercoaster of emotions while watching this family themed drama set during the war. I loved the friendship and respect Gu Qing MIng and Xue Jun Shan had for each other and I remember how I attached I became to the whole family.
-
5. Oshin
Japanese Drama - 1983, 297 episodes
Completed: January 2017
Oshin was my first asadora and I went for the ultimate classic. I knew about this drama from my childhood because I remember my parents talking about it and it was called in Cantonese 'Ah Sun' but I guess I was too young to watch it at the time. This was a well known drama which has been dubbed into many languages. I believe it's the first kind of Asian drama that appealed to a wider international audience.

6. Massan
Japanese Drama - 2014, 150 episodes
Completed: December 2018
I have fond memories thinking back to this drama. The chemistry was great between the leads and I found the story so engaging. It also gave me an insight into the whisky industry and recently (June 2022) I visited Scotland, Edinburgh for the first time and went on a whisky tour and it brought back memories to watching this drama.

7. Romance of Our Parents
Chinese Drama - 2014, 44 episodes
Completed: July 2019 - note: last drama I rated 10.
Another hidden gem that I want to keep to myself :)
-
8. Queen Seon Duk
Korean Drama - 2009, 62 episodes
Completed: March 2021
This drama had me hooked and Lady Mishi was the number 1 antagonist and she was so memerising to watch.
-
9. The Bond
Chinese Drama - 2021, 36 episodes
Completed: December 2021
A heartwarming and memorable family drama which I could relate to in terms of sibling relationships and the problematic father. It highlights the struggles and overcoming family issues which all families can face at one time or another.

10. Fumo Chitai
Japanese Drama - 2009, 19 episodes
Completed: April 2022
This drama was tense and exciting to watch especially seeing the smart, stoic and complex Iki Tadashi who was captivating. A one of a kind memorable drama.
