Loving, Never Forgetting (2014)

Jerry Yan's performance is this is truly outstanding. It took me a while to get a grip on how he chose to convey this role, his reserved logical character in that he always had to remain strong to protect his family.
How his mothers role in his life made him jaded to relationships and how only after learning he is a father himself and witnessing a different perspective of motherhood over his own child does he begin to change in his dealings / relationship with Wu Tong.
After growing up in the shadow of the stigma of being a illegitimate child and not wanting the same for his own son to suffer the same loneliness he slowly develops a relationship with the child's mother.
I would say this is more of a adult drama it's not a giddy little romance it's more about mending relationships and finding happiness. I would recommend this drama it does have a happy ending. I tend to prefer stories where in each episode you get to learn the makeup of why the characters are they way they are and that no one is without redemption or forgiveness.

My fav character is Tong tong, the 4 year old.
That should suffice to hint what is the strengths and weaknesses of this drama.
Tong tong is really cute and adorable both in appearance and the sweet things he says to the mum. It is testimonial that a child brought up with love even though they lack in material wealth blossoms to a lovable person.
Wu Tong character is quite pitiful. I really cry during the first mom-child separation. Too often in real life the kid is given to a parent who seems more capable.
Jerry Yan's character is cold calculating, cynical and does not know how to love thanks to his mother. Wu Tong shows him the bettee side of humanity and also digs out the warmth inside him and his capability to care. So far this plotline looks good. But then theres the annoying famous girlfriend, the horrible mother and step brother who is also a love rival. I dont even know when the brother became Wu tong boyfriend. The flow of the story is a bit off.
Jerry yan has improved alot since him Meteor Garden days but in scenes where he is sad or about to cry he twist his mouth, seems to pout like a petulant child so i dont always feel him. You can actually see scenes where he's good and scenes where the acting is unnatural. Chemistry wise with Wu Tong is there. But i didnt like how they write the characters behaviour the last third of the drama.
I love all father and child, mother and child bits. I also like the Secretary. Focus on these bits and the drama is quite good. But theres also a lot of tedious scenes to skip.
Ive finished watching this over a week ago and instead of reviewing straight away like i usually do.. Hmm i guess this drama is quite forgettable. And definitely not rewatching.

Well...I liked Jerry Yan...

Late to the game here in 2024. Was going to write a long diatribe, but if you read Manivnajfan's review, she pretty much nailed it. So I'll be brief
ML actor gets an 8 for acting, along with 3ML. went down to a 5 because I thought FL acting was really bad. Not believably hysterical. I agree one would be hysterical if a man succeeded in taking full custody of your kid and treating you like crap, but she was terrible conveying anything.

ML, yeah. total douche and treated women like dirt. But given what a psycho his mother was and how she treated him, and his father abandoning him, you can see why. I can actually see why he fell for FL. He is fascinated by how she mothers their son. That's how he falls for her. I get that he doesn't know what love is, so seeing it for the first time he is understandably drawn to it. The way he treats his kid is lovely, but handing her over to his horrible mother and letting her treat the son like sh*t is inexcusable. Also, the guilt the FL puts on him to forgive all these a*holes? First, NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!! The mom guilting him into giving his liver?? "He's your father!" She's unbelievable. I won't go into his forgiving his half brother for drugging and possible raping ML's wife to make ML leave her. Others have commented.

2ML: not only won't take no for an answer but predator. stalker, harasser, sexual abuser, emotional abuser and gas lighter. You get the idea. Disgusting piece of scum. Already discussed the drugging and sexual abuse. The fact that FL lies to ML CONSTANTLY saying she wasn't with 2ML when she was. Let's him paw all over her, but still doesn't learn her lesson and stay away from him. Hurts the ML over and over and makes him cry even, after he begs her to stop hurting him.

Mother: come on. Is there really a mother who would treat a child like that? I mean, I know there are. But I don't see her motivation. She is enraged with the man who impregnated her then left her, and spends her time pushing her kid to take revenge but then when he does she slaps him? She said, "Are you seriously hurting him because you were upset about being called an illegitimate child all your life? " Um. Yeah, lady. that's what he's upset about. Then she tells him, "He hurt me, but I'm over it. Now do your duty and give him your liver." The level of manipulation by EVERYONE in this story against the ML is inexcusable.

And her grandson....um, "Give me my grandson! Leave him here! His mom doesn't get to see him anymore! We'll enroll him in a school and beat the snot out of him until he's excellent!" Why the heck does he live with the grandmother? She hates him. She doesn't know how to take care of him. Does no one see this? And the FL sees the abuse of her son by this woman and tells the son, "Tongtong, your grandmother loves you. Obey her. " This is after she yells at him and breaks his toys. I can't even with this. The son, Tongtong, is the only honest person in the show. Except....

3ML, the hero of the show.!!!!! The only one who really shows true kindness to the ML and care about the him. is honest with the FL, tells it like it is to 3FL. He watches over both the FL and the 3FL. I loved him.

*ML actor. I show how shallow I am here, but I loved watching Jerry Yan. He does a fabulous job in this role. His acting was really natural. He displays a realm of emotions. His annoyance, heartbreak and tears, jealousy, love for his son, playfulness and attraction to and chemistry with the FL -- even attraction to and chemistry with his ex , all very believable and natural. . Also, he's nice to watch. Does that make me shallow? Yes. Definitely. Am I ashamed?. Yeah. A little bit. But I stand by my statement.

*Others have said this is dubbed. All I know is that using a grown female to imitate a child like they did with Tongtong is creepy and went out of fashion in the US in the late 70s.

this is an amazing drama with very mature and graceful Jerry Yan... if you want to see the very different colours of Jerry Yan this show is a must watch... basically the story is about an illegitimate child who always wanted to have a family but he was too scared to fulfill his desires just because of the scars from the past... even though he is a very successful man but due to him being and legitimate he was usually treated badly by the people around him and this was the main reason he was so afraid to Love Somebody even though all he wanted in his life is love... The relationship between mother and son portrayed differently although both the mothers had same situations... His mother always made him suffer as his father betrayed her whereas his child's mother brought up his kid with love and affection as she consider him a blessing and most precious gift by him... This touched his heart and soul so deeply that he fell for her and even ready to take responsibility for life... Jerry looks so good and unlike other dramas he is much cooler and composed with such a great chemistry with main lead... Even his naughty side look so cute with his son... If you are looking for most wonderful romantic and intense love story then go for it... From the scene one till last drop this drama will capture you... Second lead will blow your mind with his cute smile and naughty eyes.... All in all very good package....

viciante e sofrido

Comecei a assistir por achar que tinha uma vibe de Autumns Concerto, mas muitas coisas nesse drama me incomodaram muito:
1º o tanto que o Li Zhong Mou é insuportável. Foi muito difícil gostar dele, acho que em nenhum momento eu consegui nem simpatizar até porque é difícil simpatizar com um cara que quer a guarda unilateral do filho pra avó do garoto criar ele. Não faz nenhum sentido ele querer separar a mãe do filho já que ela não fez nada de ruim pra ele. Qual o sentido? Nenhum.
2º o tanto que a Wu Tong chorou. Acho que não tinha um episódio que esse mulher esteve completamente feliz. Ela estava sempre chorando e triste pelos cantos. A mulher não teve um minuto de paz e quando eu pensei que ela fosse ter um pouco de sossego ela ficou entre a vida e a morte.
3º A mãe do protagonista, a Li Zhi Ning foi irritante e desnecessária do início ao fim, até quando se “redimiu”. Apesar da história conturbada dela foi impossível simpatizar, ela não passou de uma personagem egoísta que precisava ir urgentemente p um psicólogo.
4º Mei Lin chata, irritante, chorona e se humilhava demais. Tive muita pena dela, mas a mulher gostava de se torturar por uma pessoa não queria nada dela.
5º Mandy Zhang tinha zero amor próprio, pensei que ela fosse ser pior mas acho que a Wu Tong já tinha sofrido demais.
6º por último, Xiang Jun foi só ladeira abaixo, que decepção. Quem tem um amigo desse não precisa nem de inimigo.

Enfim acho que o único personagem que eu gostei por completo foi o Wu Tong Tong, ele foi 10/10 em atuação e carisma.

Apesar de tudo isso, me prendeu do início ao fim, foi viciante e sofrido. Acho que tive uma relação de amor e ódio com esse drama. Eu recomendo.

Worth watching!

I adore the ML but I'm not a fan of the FL and did not enjoy watching the 2nd ML (brother). The acting was good but not impressive. Did not notice anything special about the music. But overall, I enjoyed the drama very much because it's about pregnancy/child, marriage and there are great sex/kissing scenes.

There are cute moments, heartache, sad scenes that will make you cry...I cried quite a bit at the very end where he felt he almost lost her... I rewatched those scenes quite a bit for the past few years and finally decided to write a review about it...

I think it's hard to find a story that I would patiently watch (without fast-forwarding) and let myself feel the pain and tear up... This one is a good one...no doubt!

Questa storia è intessuta talmente bene che si può paragone a un lampasso il cui sfondo è il mondo agguerrito degli affari su cui si intrecciano amori incondizionati , amori negati e rudezza affettiva, di profondi attaccamenti e risentimenti figliali , di maternità colorate da abnegazione o irrigidite da rivincite, di rivalità fra fratelli senza esclusioni di colpi e di faide famigliari che alla fine fanno sortire un disegno variopinto da cui risalta la pacificazione, la tenerezza, la solidarietà, la capacità di perdono e l'armonia nell'anima.
Dalla prima fino all'ultima punta puntata, scorrono tutte attrattive e ben concatenate con ritmo fluido senza inutili ne pesanti ritorni, senza salti in avanti che creano buchi di azione e ciascuna puntata suscita quantità di sentimenti ed emozioni variegate: rabbia, tenerezza, indignazione, ammirazione, benevolenza, disprezzo, stima, solidarietà perché gli attori recitano in maniera alquanto coinvolgente e sono adatti al ruolo che ricoprono sia per aspetto fisico che per carattere.
Magistrale è il ruolo del protagonista maschio, Lee Zongmu, la cui voce oltretutto è grave e pacata allo stesso tempo anche nei momenti più tesi e risentiti sa esprimere calma ed emana il carisma del leader fra fredda razionalità e distacco spietato da una parte e intenso coinvolgimento emotivo misurato e vigorosa affettività dall'altra . Adoro la voce bassa penetrante e carezzevole del padre Xian Yi e il suo sguardo benevolo. La protagonista, Wu Tong ha una voce suadente e un comportamento grandemente benevolo, perfino troppo remissiva sopratutto all'inizio dove prova eccessiva soggezione verso l'implacabile Zongmu di cui è innamorata da sempre a cui è grata per averle dato quel figlio che adora e che è il suo intero mondo proprio perché è l'unico filo che la collega a Zonghmu. . La madre e nonna , Li Zhining, è tanto tagliente e repulsiva con la voce quanto invece amorevole nello sguardo. Inacidita dal suo amore disatteso, non ha mai smesso comunque cullarlo in cuor suo.
Non ho trovato un solo attore spiacevole da guardare, sono tutti seducenti.
Ho guardato questa serie su Dramacool e le canzoni di inizio e fine puntate sono adatte al tema e piacevoli ma mancano nel mezzo delle puntate dove si leggono solo le parole delle canzoni; ciò non inficia però il piacere di guardare le scene e, inoltre ci sono musiche di pianoforte e strumentali che accompagnano le scene e le arricchiscono di emozioni.
Raramente do un alto punteggio al rewatch perché non mi piace ripercorrere una storia che conosco, ma qui sì, perché mi ha talmente attratta e coinvolta questa serie ricca di eventi e stati d'animo che ho desiderato riguardarne alcuni pezzi e varie puntate provando sempre la stessa piacevolezza. Una sola pecca è la poca verosimiglianza del risveglio dal coma di Xian Jun incompatibile con la realtà: rimanere fintamente nel come in ospedale senza che i medici se ne accorgano è impossibile.

Além das Expectativas: Uma Narrativa Incomum de Amor

Eu tinha baixas expectativas para esse drama, mas ao final ele me surpreendeu bastante, ele tinha muita coisa que eu busco em um drama, que é muito difícil de encontrar.
- Primeiro :não pé um gato e rato de comédia chato, eles não se dão bem no inicio do drama porém são por motivos reais, e questões judiciais e noção por que “Ah, eu esbarrei em você agora vamos passar 30 episódios discutindo e fingindo que não nos amamos”.
- Segundo: Eles se casão pelo o meio do drama e isso não é o fim da história, e não é por um casamento por contrato maluco, e sim por que eles se amam.
-Terceiro não é um vai e volta da bexiga, por causa de coisas infundadas.
- Quarto, eles tem um filho, e criam ele por um tempo juntos durante o drama.
Existe muitos outros pontos positivos nesse drama, porem não vou discorrer tanto, achei importante falar desses que eu considero que não existe isso em tantos outros dramas.
Mas claro existe algumas coisas que eu não gosto nele é claro, mas isso é padrão.
-Primeiro: Não gosto que a protagonista é aquela pessoa super maravilhosa, de bom coração e blablabla, mas na primeira oportunidade ela ta mentindo, como se mentira não um fosse um mal que está geralmente em pessoas mal caráter. Ela um pouca boba, mas ela não é avoada como muitas prota por aí. Isso é ponto positivo.
-Segundo a prota parece não saber dizer a palavra não, e ela esta sempre disposta a conversar com o 2prota, e dá muita abertura para ele, na verdade os meus pontos negativos são na maioria, em relação a esse segmento de personagem boazinha demais que tem a malícia de mentir horrores, mas não tem o entendimento de saber que ficar conversando,abraçando e passeado com um cara que gosta dela, e que tenta ficar com ela, mesmo que o marido dela já pediu pra ela não fazer isso, uma hora não vai da certo.
Mas no geral eu achei muito bom, foi muito diferente dos dramas que eu estou acostumada a assitir, tem filho, casamento, um romance que não dura três episódios apenas, ah e não é uma comédia romântica chata. E eu tenho certeza que seria bem melhor se eu não tivesse assistido pelo youtube, com a trilha sonora totalmente distorcida.

an easy watch if you just ignore the pile of garbage

Despite being so long, it's quite easy to watch - i admit i skipped and skipped unnecessary scenes. The plot is pretty good, but the leads are not my cup of tea - the hottest one is the SML.
All the characters are morally wrong. The FL practically stalked and abused the drunk ML... He deserved it, since he feeds his women the morning-after pill. Not even doing this personally, but having the servant clean the mess?
The cast could have been way better. I dont wanna criticize them much but definitely they dont score for me.
The only interesting couple is the thug friend and the rich heiress.
This drama had potential, i'd watch a remake.
