Bitter is the disappointment ....

I had seen the start of a review from my friend on a FB group we are in. I realised she had mixed feelings, but I liked the premise of the drama and thought it could be interesting. Sadly, on returning after my viewing and reading what she had said, yes, she hated it and she was right. That's OK - we don't always like the same things, and I would still have wanted to check for myself.
I made it to half way through Episode 4 before absconding. I'm 67, life's too short.
Disappointing, though - intriguing premise with good potential, and the actors were all great, and somewhat beautiful, which never hurts. If even I had been left in charge of the writing it could have been better!
Instead women are used throughout in the tired old trope of "thrillers" from the last decade to engineer themselves into positions of danger for the so-called thrill of us seeing them nearly get killed. With - to add insult to injury - bead lighting and bad music. The whole plot line was littered with fake after fake after fake. Shoddy nonsense and sad to say this cast was wasted on it.
The plot depends entirely on people making ridiculous decisions and behaving in completely unbelievable ways; on the total inadequacy of the police "investigations"; on random characters doing random things; and on the uncharacteristic ability of FL to kill someone with a razorblade - I just don't believe it's that easy, even if you have had a fetish about killing since you were a child.
I had hoped that at least a good part of the plotline would cover measures taken by the three women to catch the serial killer, but, here, too there was nothing but ineptitude - despite one being a cop, one a genius, and one for goodness' sake a shaman, with "powers".
I also thought that this was a very very sad, prejudiced and unrealistic depiction of someone with Asbergers syndrome. People who live on the spectrum of this disorder face enough prejudice and other issues when trying to build relationships and a life - this did them a disservice which is just shameful.
For me ... 2/10 - pretty people, good actors ... maybe squeeze out a 3 for the presence of nice broad shoulders and a pert bottom. I'm 67 but I'm not dead.

Oddly shaped and weirdly paced

The premise of Somebody is captivating. A serial killer, a psychological thriller, triggering storyline of flawed characters, a doomed romance, a technically flowered murder plot. Yet everything is wrong with it.

I dragged myself through episode 3 until I just couldn't bear it anymore. The pace was incredibly slow at mutliple times and made me want to drop this at episode 2 itself. With uniqueness in every corner, from LGBTQ characters to a unique female lead, Somebody still failed to impress me with its execution.

The immersive acting is the only thing that is good in this series. The production value and masterful acting of the actors is wasted at a convulated script and bitter direction.

No es para el público en general.

Este k-drama es el ejemplo de que no es para todo el público en general. Si te gustan los thrillers de asesinos, adelante esta es gran recomendación. Si no te gustan... lo mejor es que no lo veas.

En mi caso, este es mi tipo de k-drama, así que daré mi review desde mi perspectiva y como alguien que disfruta de este género.

En primer lugar, quiero destacar la actuación de todo el cast. WOW. En definitiva, es drama con un gran elenco, sus actuaciones son increíbles.

Por otra parte, la historia es buena para el tipo de drama que es, lo cual se me hace interesante ya que atrae a la primera. Claro, debo de enfatizar que SOLO si el thriller es un genero que disfrutes. Si no es así, lo vas a encontrar aburrido, tedioso e incomodo por el contenido sexual que está muy presente. Sin embargo, pese a que lo disfruté debo destacar de que deja cosas sin resolver al último, lo cual no me deja muy convencida con el final.

Por último, quiero rescatar un comentario/review de una de las participantes de aquí. Es un buen k-drama que no merece más de un 8.5 y menos de un 8. He visto que a muchas personas no les gustó y por eso tiene la calificación que tiene ahora (7.2), pero vuelvo a lo mismo, no es drama para todo el público así mejor les recomiendo evitarlo si es tu tipo de género.

GENTE, QUE ESCULHACHO DE DORAMA FOI ESSE CARA, QUE ROTERISTA MAIS CONFUSO, QUE DIRETOR LOUCO, QUE HISTORIA DE MERDA É ESSA. ISTO NÃO TEM LOGICA NENHUMA, PENSEI QUE O DORAMA SE TRATAVA DE SUSPENSE,INVESTIFAÇAÕ E MITICISMO, MAIS ELES FIZERAM UM MIGAL E O BIBHO PEGOU NA PANELA E QUEMOU O FOI FEI O NEGOCIO. o piscopata muito loco, não entendir a dele, a policial da cadeira de roda se iludio na pegada do psicopata e pareçe que ficou besta e retardada porque a mulher deu tanto gafe que esqueçeu até do profissionalismo. e a xamã que pataquada da porra, a mulher estava mais perdidas que os clientes que ia atras dela, e sun carinha de moça de familia, recatada e dor la, fez cada parada que medeixou de boca aberta. É O PRIMEIRO DORAMA QUE EU VEJO O SEXO MUITO EXPLICITO E ATÉ AGORA ESTOU CHOCADA

I am distrubed

Ok, I admit that cruel things happen in this world, many times committed by people. I was watching the 1st episode of this seeing if I could get a feeling for the autism spectrum FL. There was a cat hit and badly hurt. She goes and looks at the ca, see's that it's suffering and still looks. By the time she decides to do 'help' the cat, you're lead to believe she's taking it to the vet, even more time passes. She even stops to look at her pc. There's a hurt and yowling in pain cat, laying in the gutter and she's d***ing around. When she gets back to the cat, she covers it in hand towels like a shroud. I thinking she's covering it up cause she finds it offensive. She then pulls out a utility knife...then you see her physically struggle using it....

I was shocked and horrified; it made me sick. That was it, couldn't watch anymore. Then before I could turn it off, she said she killed a cat. I was thru. I know animals are put down every day, but this! She asked the person on the phone what should she do and they said take it to the vet. She was so emotionless, ice cold and her face devoid of any emotion except did I get the blade long enough? No pity, no sorrow, total void of human caring. I couldn't take it and turned it off.

a big disappointment (again)!

I know that I probably shouldn't say anything with just watching one single episode, but I have to. I keep getting disappointed with these new Netflix K-dramas over and over again. They are just very confusing and don't make really any sense to me at all and I think it's because of the popularity of Squid game. They are trying to make something dark like squid game but end up failing very badly. Also I think that they are trying to make K-dramas westernized/American with these unnecessary sex scenes that are just very badly placed to please the American viewers to get popularity globally.

The drama seemed very interesting in the description because I'm very interested (only interested nothing more) in serial killers and psychopaths, but it wasn't anything that I expected from reading that. Also the placing was much more interesting/ clearer in the trailer than in the drama itself.

The good thing about this drama was the cinematography (and the acting) and that's about it.

Não assista esperando que tera um super enredo!

definitivamente nao e um bom dorama! O elenco e bom assim como o plot, porem os escritores nao foram capazes de desenvolver o enredo de uma forma coerete. Na realidade, nao existe um enredo, sao 8 episodios de puro nada! Nao espere por uma investigaçao criminal, pois e inexistente, tambem nao espere entender o serial killer ou qualquer personagens/coisa que nos e apresentando nesse dorama. Quando terminei fiquei bem confusa me perguntando o que tinha acabado de ver, perdi uma noite de sono maratonando esse dorama e a unica coisa que prestou foi a atuaçao do Young Kwang e as cenas +18 dele. Por fim sai apaixonada por um serial killer, acho que essa foi a intençao dos criadores so pode!


Se eu indico? Depende! se voce que ve um serial killer gostosao assiste, porque e so isso que ese dorama pode te proporcionar.

Just Too Much

I’m American, so it’s not like I’ve never seen all the R-rated stuff in nearly everything produced over here. But I’ve had enough of all that, which is why I mostly watch Kdramas now.

I’m unhappy to see any westernization of the genre, but I’m not saying that these types of dramas can’t be made. I AM saying that anything with the degree of depicted animal cruelty and disturbingly vivid forced intercourse needs a substantially stronger warning about content than I understood from the rather tame description.

Yes, I know that shows put a little blurb top left at the beginning to list the possibly offensive stuff to the audience, but with Kdramas, I’ve never felt like I had to actually pay much attention to those. Guess that’s changing…

Stop promoting animal cruelty!

Immediately dropped it after the cat scene. I'm so sick of it! When will we finally stop promoting animal violence and cruelty in media.

Forced diversity.

Why do so many kdramas made by Netflix have non Koreans in them? I keep seeing white and black people with no dialog just there to be there. that's called tokenisim. Netflix is pushing their political agenda into their original programs. ? . kdramas don't need white or black or brown people. They are Korean shows thqt take place in Korea and are spoken in Korean. Miscegenation and diversity is not needed at all. it is clear political propaganda. they do this in the states and in Europe already to force mixed couples as the norm even if people who hold no negative opinions of other races just want to be left alone. Korean couples in a Korean show is normal not a African or European in random meetings and scenes with no dialog.
