OH MAY GAHHH
First things first, Park Shin Hye is a goddess. She is the actress in the first kdrama I ever watched, so she's my soft spot, but you can't tell me her performance wasn't flawless. I liked the ML, but maybe someone more experienced would be better, regardless, I liked him a lot as well. The drama is very good, giving you a little bit of everything. I liked the pace at which Justitia changed her attitude. The story is enticing, and it makes you devour the drama. It's been a long time since I last felt that way about a Korean drama, maybe since The Glory. The side characters were all well-developed and I have absolutely nothing to complain about.

Best drama of 2024!
I initially put this drama on as background noise while doing chores, without any expectations. I wasn’t familiar with Park Shin-hye and hadn’t seen her in anything before, but I did know Kim Jae-young, so when I found out he was the main lead, I was thrilled.! The drama captured my interest quickly; there weren’t any dull episodes, and all the actors delivered exceptional performances. It’s rare to find a drama where every actor shines.Although I can’t speak to Park Shin-hye’s previous work, anyone criticizing her acting after this series is simply being unreasonable. Her performance was outstanding, as was Kim Ah-young’s—she was amazing! As for those saying the romance seemed forced… what exactly did they expect? Romance is one of the core genres here, and without it, the story would lack variety. Plus, the chemistry between Shin-hye and Jae-young, both on and off screen, was fantastic. I genuinely can’t see how it could seem forced.
All in all, this is an excellent drama, and I’d say it’s the best one of 2024.

2024 new favorite!
I can’t believe it’s already over. I loved every second! Park Shin Hye truly shined—she completely owned this role. I don’t care what others say; I love her so much. And Kim Jae Young portrays his character so well. He's so talented and cute; I can't believe he's older than Shin Hye.While I’m a fan of romance and the chemistry between the leads was undeniable, I appreciated that romance wasn’t the main focus here. It’s more of a subgenre, adding depth without overpowering the story. Also, the rooftop kiss was so good I had to rewatch it a few times, lol. (〃ω〃)
I also love how they left the ending up to the viewers. For some, it’s an open ending; for others, a closed one. Personally, I think it was fitting, even though part of me would love a sequel. The final scenes, showing all the characters (victims) happy, were incredibly heartwarming. For me, the only downside was the unresolved question about Kang Bitna. Was she really sent to hell? She was wrongfully accused, so what happened? This plot hole is my only complaint, but overall, this drama is easily one of the best of 2024. (´∩ω∩`)

Is there such a thing as a Christian Horror? Refreshing Old Tropes
Horror is a genre frequently described as meant to "hurt its audience"; it's supposed to evoke "negative" feelings such as disgust, dread, fright, squeamishness. To that end, authors use a particular set of tools to evoke particular sets of feelings, and since there are so many horrors, nothing new ever really happens. There are three main things to like about this show. The refreshing of Old Tropes common to these kinds of stories. Combining tropes that normally not put together for this kind of show to give it a feel of creativity and newness. The use of skilled and experienced actors to give life to old material.
So, what you get here is a crime serial that combines tropes from several other genres to give the show a fresh feel. To say more is to spoil some of the twists the authors placed within the story. By placing these tropes within a crime serial and connecting it to cosmic justice made it enjoyable, even when some events are predictable. Since there are still surprises, and twists and turns to take us to the climax. The predictability did not make it boring. It was smart of the author, "even if we know where all this must end, what interesting and surprising ways can we get there. The twist is in the journey rather than the outcome. We are working with Character twists and character journey twists rather than plot twists.
We have interesting and likable and loathsome characters. We have a plain, common setting. We have a serial plot with lots of room to grow and the possibility of expansion. So, on technical merits it scores high. Good Characters. Mid Setting. Good Plot. Mild Gore. Good Music. Great Actors, and at times mind blowing acting. So how do we deal with a "plain, common, setting."? The author extends it. Indicating some mysteries beyond our typical Korean city, hiding beneath the surface. I truly wish the author, and actors might have been afforded more time to flesh out the world more and explore more intricate story and plot arcs. It would have done wonders to make the setting more interesting. The other experienced and skilled actors might have also gotten time to show their skills more.
There is another merit to this work the person watching for entertainment might not consider. The show is great. Watch it. The best production of 2024. The Plot, Setting and Characters together are interesting, even though separately mid. That is my review as a piece of entertaining K-Drama.
The real meat of the show is in the philosophy of the work, the thinkers and ideas I think were adopted for the inspiration of the story; and the themes explored. Divine Providence, Cosmic Justice and Legal Justice. If we take C.S. Lewis (Screwtape Letters, till we have faces) Dostoevsky (The Demons) and the Bible as launching pad. This work is an excellent piece of death education, philosophical theodicy to the problem of justice and interesting challenge to moral nihilism and how legal justice is powerless in the face of it all. There are things seemingly played for laughs or to show the quirkiness of the characters that turn out to be significant. What is it that can change "Dostoevsky style demons"? Can it be related to the silence of God? What is hell like to the soul given to depravity?
The first watch, it's a fun serial, with laughs and tears. The second watch is more serious. A Christian horror tackling the silence of God and Cosmic justice. So, watch it, and if you get a chance afterwards; read "the Screwtape letters", "Till We have Faces" and if you can stomach it add "The Demons". Then watch it again.
If you really have time, and love reading (all by C.S. Lewis), you can throw in
The Weight of Glory
The Great Divorce
The Problem of Pain
Miracles
The Final Battle (The last book of the Chronicles of Narnia)
The Abolition of Man
To further the appreciate the philosophical and theological depths of this drama. I might even be inspired to give a spoiler review for those who might want to watch it a second time and look out for interesting stuff.

A Park Shin Hye show
It was one of the rare series that never lost its plot, activation, excitement and game from beginning to end. A very good production, management, plot and acting. I would like to thank those who contributed in advance. Due to my religious beliefs, such demon events are against me. However, it was handled and presented so beautifully that you watch it. I think it is a story combined with the beliefs and dreams of the writer. It was very good.Park Shin Hye deserved the award for this role. She gave such a beautiful performance. It even made you say that this role was written for her. She was very good. I congratulate her. The other actors were also very good. In my opinion, it was an award-worthy series.
I recommend it to those who like this kind of series. They should watch it.

Burning Justice paired with Ice-Cold Chemistry
Judge From Hell delivers a captivating mix of fantasy and thriller, setting itself apart from other Korean dramas this year. The storyline is engaging and provides a refreshing approach, making it an entertaining watch for fans of the genre. Despite some predictable moments, the plot remains solid and well-executed.One downside was the prevalence of spoilers circulating on social media before the drama’s release, which slightly dampened the element of surprise. However, the show’s overall quality was unaffected, offering a rewarding viewing experience. The production benefitted significantly from its star-studded cast and budget, ensuring the drama met expectations both visually and narratively.
Park Shin Hye shines once again in her role as Kang Bit Na. Her experience and talent are evident, with her performance carrying much of the drama’s emotional weight. Fans familiar with her previous works, such as Doctors, will find her portrayal here equally impressive. On the other hand, Kim Jae Young, as Han Da On, delivered a commendable performance, proving himself a solid counterpart to Shin Hye’s character.
However, the lack of chemistry between the two leads was noticeable. While romance wasn’t the central focus of the story, the subplot felt underwhelming due to the absence of a genuine connection between the characters. This aspect might leave some viewers wanting more from their interactions.
The supporting cast added depth and intrigue, complementing the main narrative well. However, some unresolved questions linger, such as the fate of Kang Bit Na’s original soul and her reasons for calling off her engagement. These ambiguities might leave viewers speculating long after the final episode.
Overall, Judge From Hell is a satisfactory drama that excels in many areas, from its compelling plot to its standout performances. While not without flaws, it remains a worthwhile addition to this year’s lineup of Korean dramas, offering an entertaining and thought-provoking experience.

A story of a judge who punish on her term.
I knew that I'd love the story as well as the acting, but I don't know why I was hesitant to watch it. I truly enjoyed watching it. It was worth my time.Loved Park Shin Hye acting as a demon. She nailed it. Also liked Kim Jae Young's acting. His character has innocence, shyness which and is portrayed nicely.
Most pleasing thing is that the ending wasn't rushed. But still I want to know what she chooses.
Loved how Kang Bit Na punished criminals the same way they committed the crime. Loved how she punished them. It was so pleasing to watch, especially the Yang Seung Bin one.
But I have a question. Is it really important to give criminals a light sentence then punish them in her way? She can give them the sentence they deserve, then punish them in jail or somewhere else the way she did to the serial killer. Hell! She is a demon, she can teleport into jail, kill the culprit, then wipe away the evidence. That way, she won't be a bad judge.
Also she teleports whenever she punishes criminals, but why can't she do that when Han Da On was guarding her in front of her apartment?
Laughed when Kang Bit Na said the criminal to stop crying. Also when Han Da On bought a megaphone in front of the court to talk to her.
I really enjoyed it.

Shocked at How Much I Enjoyed This Drama
Do you ever enjoy something so much that you feel the need to share about it the moment you finish it? That's how I feel about this drama. Truth be told, the premise sounded really odd to me when I encountered it, and the fantasy / supernatural elements are not my cup of tea. However, I was in a rut about what to watch next and decided to give it a go. No regrets!!!It's not really a drama for the faint-hearted, especially if you can't handle blood. I would often have it playing when my sister was around, and she commented a few times about how it was a bit scary and too much.
The acting in this drama was absolutely phenomenon, from the minor characters to the main characters. Each villain really draws you in, leaving you angry at how a human could be so cruel to do certain things. I absolutely loved that Kang Bitna's character would bring the criminal into their own "crime scene" to experience the torture of what they did to those they killed.
While the romance in this drama seems a little odd (simply considering the whole premise), the chemistry between Park Shin Hye and Kim Jae Young was fire. You can't help but want to root for them together even if it doesn't seem logical.
There are also some small comedic elements that help to break up the tension and thrilling aspects. The music was also fantastic!!! And the ending credits? Chef's kiss.
Highly recommend giving this drama a try, especially if you enjoy the genre.

THE WRITER NEEDS AWARDS!!
This drama totally nails it, thanks to a amazing script and brilliant directing. It’s almost unreal that it’s the writer’s first script! The plot was set from the beginning, no weekly changes based on audience reactions, and you can tell—it’s packed with tiny details that make you go “wow.” The team deserves all the awards, and it’s a shame people are missing out just because it’s not a typical rom-com.Park Shin Hye as Justitia was amazing! She’s fierce, stylish, and brings out this refreshing personality with incredible action scenes. Kim Jaeyoung also shines as Han Daon, finally getting a lead role that feels perfect for him. Their chemistry was really good. Initially you wonder how they will tease each other and then you just start waiting for their cute moments. The “enemies to lovers” trope hits hard—she even kills him in their third meeting!
SBS has to give them Daesangs!!
Story Breakdown (Some spoilers):
- Fantasy:7/10
- Crime:8/10
- Romance:5/10
- Subtle Romance:10/10
The romance is more about cute, awkward moments rather than intense scenes, which actually makes it more touching. They’re both total beginners at love, so hugs even catch them off guard. In the final episode, there’s a well-done time skip that makes their relationship growth feel natural instead of forced.
Justitia is focused on her dark mission, acting as a judge who secretly puts criminals on her own “death trial” to send them to hell. But here’s the twist—her decisions don’t always bring justice to the victims’ families, which adds a lot of depth to her character. By the end, she’s starting to question her ruthless approach.
Han Daon, meanwhile, is the detective working on Justitia’s cases, frustrated as she releases the very criminals he’s spent ages catching. He discovers the truth about her pretty early on, and just when it feels like he might expose her, he starts to adopt her harsh methods, while Justitia becomes more compassionate. Their role reversal is a brilliant twist.
Execution:
- Each episode kept fans guessing with theories, but the show constantly surprised us. The trailers even threw us off!
- There was one plot hole: what happened to Bitna’s soul? Since she was wrongly sent to hell, it would’ve been nice to see that resolved. But it’s left open for interpretation.
In conclusion, don’t skip this just because it’s not a rom-com! The story’s engaging, with great humor and fantastic chemistry between the leads. You’ll want to rewatch this one for sure!
