I didn't have too many expectations when watching the first part of the movie. Like a family that gets rich thanks to the superpowers of family members, then they prepare to fall into a "financial crisis" when the members lose their superpowers due to "modern diseases". I find this quite funny and.... a bit "childish". However, the screenwriter has developed the plot reasonably and deeply. In fact, many people suffer from the same "modern diseases" as the characters.
I love how the characters develop through each episode. Relationships and misunderstandings are gradually resolved properly. The movie is not only about love but also about family, friends, etc. What I especially like the most is the way the movie is shot, which is quite special compared to other Korean movies. The ending left me quite confused but overall it was an okay ending

A Unique and Engaging Take On Relatable Problems

I don't like the categories for rating on here. My 4 categories are Acting/Cast, Writing, Direction/SFX/Music, Entertainment Value.

I wanted to watch this drama because of Jang Ki Yong (장기용). I loved his acting in My Ahjusshi, but it seems he's only played emotionless, stoic characters since (I hate it...). Except maybe Born Again; that drama was alright. So, I was interested to see how he'd do in this drama, although I didn't have high hopes.

Acting/Cast: I felt like Jang Ki Yong (장기용) actually played a unique character in this drama. I'm so proud. Everyone did great. I wasn't previously too familiar with any of the other actors in this drama, but everyone exceeded my expectations. I would say the acting of Park So Yi (박소이), the male lead's daughter, stood out to me the most. Her character felt very realistic and I personally related to her a lot. Kim Soo Hyun's (김수현) character came across as a bit annoying and over-the-top in the first half of the drama, but even she grew on me as her character grew. I really liked watching viewers cry about the female lead not being a perfect, sweet angel. Con artist male leads are fine but con artist female leads are unthinkable? Thank you for a unique female lead with an actual personality and character growth. However, I kind of wish they leaned more into the bad girl aspect of her character though. Don't be afraid to make an immoral female lead; that way, seeing her character growth will be more rewarding in end. 8.5/10

Writing: The plot is on point. Such an interesting premise -- a depiction of common issues that regular people face, but expressed metaphorically through a family with super powers. I also really like how the writers didn't explain the metaphors to us, therefore preserving this drama's intelligent writing. However, the male lead did talk about having depression a little too much. Saying it once was enough. Also, the food-addicted sister was a bit much with the scenes of her stuffing her face with food. However, I like how the story unfolded; it didn't become predictable. The characters were written well. Each character had notable character growth throughout the drama. The time jump towards the end was jarring. I'm not even quite sure how big of a jump it was. It seemed like it was only a few months, but the weight loss was too severe for it to be that short...so it just confused the hell out of me. Also, the sudden romance at the end should have been hinted at throughout the drama in order to make it more cute and believable. The dance club plot point with the dad seemed like it came out of nowhere, too, as if it was only used to further the main plot. I felt that as the drama was wrapping up, a certain character had too sudden of a change. It was too idealistic for my taste. In reality, a tiger tends to not change its stripes, especially that quickly. In other words, the ending was too happy in contrast to the rest of the drama. However, the ultimate ending between the two leads was beautifully written. 7.5/10

Direction/SFX/Music: This drama is well-produced with a vibe somewhat reminiscent of a Tim Burton film (a bit gloomy, a bit cartoonish, a bit eccentric). The SFX wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either. A lot of fire in this drama and some flying - both are effects that seem to be more difficult to get looking right. I can say though that I was highly impressed with the quality of the fat suit and makeup. It looked very real. The OST is just as unique as the rest of the drama. It adds to the drama's quirkiness. 9/10

Entertainment Value: This drama kept me guessing until the very end with its unique plot and cast of characters. I think a huge reason why this drama was so entertaining is because it's so different from anything I've seen in the K-drama world. It's slightly controversial, it's deep, it's relatable, and the leads aren't your typical romcom leads. I watched this as it aired along with Lovely Runner and I was so surprised at how much I was enjoying two airing dramas at once. It has really been a good year for K-dramas so far. 10/10

Overall, I gave this drama a 9/10. All in all, I was very impressed by this drama. In the beginning, I was so shocked that I was enjoying it, that I kept looking through comments and reviews to see if anyone else was feeling the same way (and they were). This drama also pulled on my heartstrings a lot as I personally related to the struggles that multiple characters were going through, especially the daughter. I definitely recommend this drama to anyone who wants to watch a very different take on a romcom, family healing drama.

Must watch for Unique, Crisp Story & Flawless Acting | Mixed feels for Ending

Skeptical when I started this show: it was too unique - mixing superhero, con-artist, time-travelling in a rom-com seemed too much to deliver & do justice to it all themes. But every week the episodes delivered on these themes & kept me intrigued on what would come next. The plot, acting, short format and music are just perfectly balanced - which is why I highly recommend watching this show. Rated this show an 8 (Great with Few Flaws) - the flaw here is minor, just the ending 5 minutes or so, gave me mixed feels, it was satisfying to an extent and goes with the "atypical" theme, but can leave you puzzled as well.

➥ STENGTHS:
✦ Unique story: it has fantasy, romance, suspense, bit of comedy, heavy topics of trauma/depression/death/school bullying, body images. Love that proper & equal attention is given to all of these themes with a satisfying ending or hint for what could happen in future.

✦ Pace: Personally loving these short formats - and while this drama had a lot of past scenes bought up, it is not a filler but rather builds the plot forward. It many seem slow in the initial 2 episodes when you are binge watching, but then it is the episode that is building the foundation of the story. It picks up gradually - every episode giving you answers to previous episode's questions but also bringing in new suspense/twists.

✦ Acting: Flawless - every character breathed life into their role & deliver it convincingly. You'll fall in love with the main leads - their chemistry is awkward & then too cute but natural. The ML & FL have all my heart for giving us this unique pair - they seem like they'd be friends or lovers IRL. While these were the central characters - others also played their part well, supporting the story while giving us an insight on their own stories/challenges/motives and had a satisfying ending - be it a good or bad character. More Character Analysis below - but special call out to the main leads ML, FL, ML's sister and daughter, FL's uncle.

✦ Music: Only heard "Lee Sora’s I See You" but that was enough. The intro and starting word "bichereom" arrest you every time it played during & at the end of an episode. It was a character on its own - given that it was a slow ballad and started softly, you would anticipate it to come, as soon as an interesting scene happened in the middle of the episode or a cliffhanger. Very different from other OSTs - as usually the verse/chorus is played loudly to emphasize on the events unfolding onscreen. But this one quietly creeped up on you - very atypical and mysterious - a great fit for the drama!

✦ Cinematography: Aesthetically pleasing! Given the fantasy nature of the drama, which had to depict time travel and other superpowers of the family, this was very well done in terms of the effects. They blended it well, so that it did not seem unnatural. Also, the visuals from characters clothes, make-ups, settings were also aptly balanced. Nothing too ostentatious or shabby given the conditions / differences they had to highlight for the main and scamming families.

➥ WEAK POINTS:
✦ The ending 5 minutes: Related to the main leads - though the ending remained true to the theme and name of the drama - ATYPICAL in every sense, it is a double edged sword. As some would be happy with it, but others like me would have wanted a more longer explanation than just an implied conclusion. Though not rushed, but then they could have avoided scenes of the support characters and shared what exactly happened for the ending to happen that way it did, as they were the main leads.
It is a time jump of 5 years or so that is showcased - which is lovely to watch, but it leaves you wanting for more.

Mild Spoilers & Main Questions:
How did that little boy managed to get the father back? And how did his mother allow him to take on such a dangerous task without any context? Or are they all dreaming?

➥ OVERALL:
Highly recommend that you BINGE this drama – because it is a neat little package with well-done plot themes of romance, suspense, superpowers, importance of support of family & friends, scams, comedy, time-travel and fair bit of action too! The cinematography and music add to the viewing experience, and it is a delight to watch!

It delivered.

With only 12 episodes, a series needs to well written to deliver the 'punchline' by the end of the show and for certain this show did. If you love series, that are not necessarily slow-paced but takes it's time to deliver, then this series will definitely pique your interest.

A common pitfall of many (Korean) series is that, the show starts out interesting, has it's moments in between but by the end of the show you're either completely lost in the mess the writers created or you simply lost interest.

Luckily the writers have not missed the mark during the production of this series, and delivered a series I will look back on years from now, thinking back how much I liked it, unlike some other shows that had me flabbergasted with the ending, for the wrong reasons.

For those thinking of starting out this show, it takes a few episodes for some people to really get into it and personally for me I thought the show was only getting better with each passing episode.

I could've added some more details about the show itself in this review, but going into this series blindly is probably the way to watch this seemingly hidden gem.

Grace and bok dong hee + things I hated for no reason (maybe)

When I started watching this drama i didn't have very high expectations because the title sounded boring and this isn't a drama that I usually watch but surprisingly I really loved it. I loved the chemistry of the ml and how the girl was "villain". The story was interesting but it was too slow sometimes. Because of that I don't think I can rewatch it very easily.
There is still few things I didn't really like. I hated how they make the dead wife be the bad person who cheated him, blamed her child for being born and make I na hate herself. and I know that they wanted to make room for the main lead but still she didn't deserve that. And then there is the mom she is terrible person and u can't make me think otherwise yes she can see future and it can be traumatic (her dad's death) but still she was mean for her own children she make bok dong hee hate herself for liking to eat and she didn't support her dream to be model and she beat her son when he was little (I think I don't know if I remember correctly) she also was bad wife for her husband who did all the work on the house and take care of her. Next thing I loved and hated same time grace and bok dong hee they were amazing I loved their chemistry and they should have ended together like they build the chemistry and relationship but they didn't do anything with it like why and then they just added the uncle there like here's ur husband like I had never seen them even talk it was so random she should ended up with grace they were my favorite couple. (I really loved the series still)This is all I could think of for now and sorry if there's lot of writing mistakes and other mistakes. I watched it in English so I maybe haven't understand everything correctly. Please tell me if there is mis information. thank you for reading what I have to say:)

Marvel Meets Parasite & Kdrama fantasy

Take Marvel, Moving & Parasite together, add a dash of Kdrama fantasy & you'll get A Typical Family. Brilliant plot, genius ending.

A very Atypical drama. Gave away few plot spoilers already if you are watching with interest.

It's been tagged as romantic show on Netflix while the first 2 episodes are quite intriguingly mysterious vibes. It's a family of super heroes in their slump era with lots of back stories to unfold and to their further misfortune they're being surrounded by con artists who I believe also has some kind of super powers or something they're hiding.

Overall, a fantasy show like vibes with quite a promising start Maybe Moving kind or maybe Marvel kind. The ML has a unique time slip superpower as well as the other members of family.

Intrigued me enough to continue so let's see how it unfolds.

O final é feliz, mas bem corrido

Amei esse dorama, pra qm não entendeu na apresentação ela já estava grávida mas provavelmente era o início da gestação então a mesma poderia não saber. Como teve um salto de 5 anos não mostrou a gestação. Mas ali deu pra entender que não teve corpo no presente pq o filho deles buscou ele no passado a 18 anos atrás e levou ele direto para o futuro. Quando o filho já tinha 5 anos.
A única coisa que não gostei foi não ter mostrado o encontro dele com a filha, ela precisava disso e ele também. Fora isso achei muito bom.
Gostei muito do desenvolvimento dos personagens, principalmente da família. A prota foi essencial, ela devolver a vontade de viver da família, uniu todos. Vou sentir saudades.

One time watch worthy

What I liked:
-Interesting Plot:"Aytical Family" weaves a captivating storyline that keeps viewers engaged from start to finish. The narrative intricacies are compelling and draw you into the characters' lives.

- **Second Couple (Teen Couple):** The dynamics of the teen couple were particularly enjoyable. Their youthful romance brought a refreshing contrast to the more serious main plot.

- **No Excessive Twists:** Unlike many dramas that rely heavily on convoluted twists and turns, "Aytical Family" maintained a straightforward storyline. This approach kept the drama believable and easy to follow, enhancing the viewing experience.

**What I Didn't Like:**

- **Bit Slow:** At times, the pacing felt a little sluggish. Certain scenes dragged on longer than necessary, which occasionally affected the overall momentum of the drama.

Overall, "Aytical Family" is a solid drama with an engaging plot and charming characters. Despite its slower pace at times, it remains an enjoyable watch, particularly for those who appreciate a balance between drama and romance without an overabundance of plot twists.

Senti falta dos 16 episódios

Logo de início já digo que o drama é bom, com um conceito bom, atuações boas e um bom desenvolvimento de personagens.
Acredito que o que me faz ficar relutante em dar uma nota maior, é que talvez não esteja acostumada com o ritmo de um drama de apenas 12 episódios. Isso fez com que eu sentisse que algumas coisas aconteceram rápido demais, ao mesmo tempo que outras se tornaram repetitivas, sendo resolvidas às pressas nos dois últimos episódios.

A premissa do drama é a seguinte: Uma família misteriosa, cujos membros possuem poderes, entra em contato com uma mulher misteriosa, que parece ser a chave para os problemas atuais da família.
Cada membro é diferente e interessante. Com seus traumas e dificuldades a serem superadas (dificuldades e traumas que os fizeram incapazes de usar seus poderes).

Sobre os membros da família Bok:

Bok Gwi-ju: Um dos maiores protagonistas do drama. Tem o poder de voltar no tempo, a partir de uma memória feliz de seu passado. Porém, não é capaz de alterar os fatos, sendo apenas um espectador. No entanto, ele se torna incapaz de usá-los após desenvolver depressão, visto que, após a perda da sua esposa e da incapacidade de salvar seu amigo, se vê em um profundo desespero e falta de perspectiva. Tudo isso começa a mudar a partir do momento em que a Da-He entra em sua vida, fazendo com que ele se apaixone por ela. Seus poderes começam não só a voltar, mas também a evoluir.

Do Da-He: Acredito que ela seja a protagonista principal, considerando que todas as coisas começam a se desenrolar com a sua chegada. No início, ela se apresenta como uma mulher inocente, doce e misteriosa. No entanto, se revela uma golpista, que vê em Bok Gwi-ju seu terceiro alvo. Seu plano (e o de sua família) é seduzir e casar com Gwi-ju, visando a fortuna da família Bok. Apesar de ter me sentindo bem desconfortável com seus avanços (que surpreendentemente deram certo, e bem rápido), era possível notar que no fundo, ela era uma mulher de bom coração. Inclusive, nós descobrimos que ela só estava aplicando golpes por conta da dívida de seu pai falecido à sua mãe postiça, que era uma agiota.

Bok Dong-he: A irmã mais velha de Gwi-ju. Ela tem o poder de voar, mas se torna incapaz de usá-lo por conta de sua obesidade. Dong-he é uma personagem muito interessante e com uma personalidade forte, que foi bem explorada. Ela se revelou muito perspicaz e inteligente, nunca se deixando enganar pela atuação de Da-he. A princípio, ela parece ser apenas obcecada por dinheiro, sem se preocupar com a família. Mas à medida que vamos conhecendo melhor a personagem, vemos que ela genuinamente se importa.

Bok Man-hm: A matriarca da família. Ela tem o poder de sonhar com o futuro, mas se encontra incapaz de utilizá-lo por conta de sua insônia. É através dela que Da-he consegue se introduzir no círculo familiar da família Bok. No início, ela gosta muito da Da-he (já que ela era a única que conseguia faze-la dormir) e tenta a todo o custo arranjar o casamento dela e Gwi-ju, alegando que ela era a salvação da família. Desde o primeiro episódio podemos ver que sua maior preocupação é manter sua linhagem e seus poderes "ativos". Não há muita coisa sobre o passado dela.

Eom Soon-gu: O pai da família. Ele não possui poderes (já que eles são passados pela linhagem da esposa). Desde o início se apresenta como um homem compreensivo e dedicado à família, principalmente à sua esposa. Não tenho muito a dizer a respeito dele.

Bok I-na: Filha de Gwi-ju e sua falecida esposa. A I-na é provavelmente a minha personagem preferida do drama. É uma menina de 13 anos que, no início, é extremamente isolada e tem uma péssima relação com o pai. Sabendo da obsessão da avó pelos poderes dos membros da família, esconde o seu, que é o de ler mentes ao olhar nos olhos das pessoas. Por conta disso, está sempre usando óculos e com a cabeça baixa. I-na teve um desenvolvimento de personagem excelente, e uma das melhores partes do drama foi ver a restauração de seu relacionamento com o pai.

Fiquei confusa em alguns momentos do drama, por conta das idas e vidas do Gwi-ju ao passado (tinham coisas que já eram passado pra Da-he, mas que ainda não eram pra ele). Mas a linha do tempo é bem construída e não deixa furos. O maior problema pra mim foi justamente a falta de tempo para o desenvolvimento de algumas coisas, principalmente de uma maior dinâmica familiar.
Achei que o relacionamento dos protagonistas evoluiu rápido demais, dadas as circunstâncias, enquanto outras coisas foram arrastadas até os últimos episódios, só para serem resolvidas às pressas. Isso fica gritante no tocante ao relacionamento da Da-He com sua mãe adotiva. Ela a grande vilã durante a maior parte do drama, tendo explorado a Da-he por meio de um contrato assinado no dia da morte do pai dela. No final, ela é simplesmente jogada como uma mulher que se preocupa genuinamente com a filha adotiva, após tantas situações que demostravam o contrário.

O final não me agradou muito. Nem sempre sou fã de time skips, que infelizmente é o caso aqui. O Gwi-ju fica 5 anos desaparecido após voltar no passado e salvar a Da-He, e volta literalmente no último minuto. Não entendi muito bem qual foi a real causa dessa volta, já que fica um pouco ambíguo se ele voltou por conta própria ou se seu filho (com a Da-he) o traz de volta. Caso seja o primeiro caso, é interessante pensar que o menino precisou nascer pra salvar o pai. Mas acho que pessoalmente preferiria ver eles como uma família feliz nos minutos finais (considerando que temos uma sensação de incerteza e ansiedade desde o início do drama).

O drama foi bom, mas não acho que foi um dos melhores do ano, como vi muitos afirmando. Gostaria muito que tivesse uma segunda temporada que explorasse devidamente a árvore genealógica e os poderes da família Bok. Acredito que se o enfoque fosse de fato o laço familiar, eu poderia ter gostado mais, já que mais pra frente, a sensação é de que isso acaba ficando em segundo plano e se apresenta sem o devido desenvolvimento. Não me entendam mal, eu gosto de um bom romance. O problema é que aqui, alguns plots foram perdidos em prol de outras dinâmicas.
