Ah, yes. My favorite tropes: Mistrustful Acquaintances to Lovers and Chosen Families.

The Drama portrays the struggle of our lead, who wants to stay independent without the need for a husband after the disaster her past life was with the same man. Now, with the knowledge of the future in the book given to her before her death, she tries to change the course of the following years for the better—for her life and the lives of those she met before she died.

There is familial scheming, political intrigue, chosen families, destined lovers, pressures of the society at the time, and a constant tension and worry about what will happen next. It's gripping and there is never a dull moment!

Our Female Lead is manipulative, emotionally mature, and knows how to protect herself from the political and familiar scheming that surrounds her. Being disillusioned by love after a big betrayal and heartbreak, she does everything in her power to establish herself as financially independent as possible this time around—and promises to live this new chance at life for herself and her own happiness instead of others. And even if some of her attempts to change the course of the future do not go according to plan, she does not give up, and instead adapts and tries again. The actress does a wonderful job in all of her scenes and in all of the character's phases.

Our Male Lead is strong-headed and moved by justice and honor. And even if some of his decisions are violent and cruel, he is still honorable and very gentle with the right people. Seeing the difference between what he could become and who he started as is heartbreaking, and his scenes with his family and friends are lovely and sweet—and just as strong as the heartbreak that comes after. The actor also does a wonderful job here portraying his character's rageful moments and his soft and fond moments, too.

The slow burn of their relationship building itself up from mistrustful of each other to allies and then something else is lovely to watch, and seeing their views of the other change with time is also lovely. But our FL has no interest and doesn't believe in love anymore, and our ML is hesitant to consider his feelings because he is searching for someone special who saved his life once.

There has not been a single boring episode so far and that is hard to do! All actors—even secondary characters—have given their all in their portrayals and the whole OST has been just as lovely and has a very recognizable melody that comes up in impactful scenes to make everything perfect. Costume design and fight choreographies also do not disappoint. Emotional moments hit hard and deep, and light and fond moments feel special and sweet. I really can't recommend this drama enough!

LI YUN RUI

Ok, I've watched 4 dramas of Li Yun Rui (LLtG, Scene of Love, the Last Immortal, Blossom) and naturally have a great impression of him. Being new in the industry he's doing pretty good although need some polishes to get better. In Blossom he has great visual especially in the first episode where he has grey hair and some great action. I was thinking 'wow...this is good'. When they have misunderstanding & suspicious of each other (ep5) in the storm rainy day, that's great scenes - dramatic backdrop setting. But after ep 18 & the marriage, I am taking a break - them focusing in romance more. Not that I don't like romance, I do, I just don't like too much expose on lovey dovey. The action less frequent than the beginning of the drama.

The cameramen shoot very good angles, perfect caption on the expression of actors faces, nice execution. I think the director is the best asset in Blossom. The story though, same old same these 'reborn to a new beginning after crucial fate in the previous life'. No matter how twist the plots - character come back to reeducate to be better so won't have the same sadly ending. It's kind like of cheating of exams - students know the questions and would have same answers in different deviation. Also it's about dysfunctional family members; mix and match of mean step mother, stupid dad, ambitious uncle, nice grandmother, etc. We know that part and nothing much to appreciate. If C-drama keep doing same thing, I am afraid nothing left to watch.

I don't know in which episode Song Mo (LYR) will start to take some action in revenge of his uncle death. I am watching this up to ep 20 and still no heart to continue it. But I think this is one of the better drama than anything else. Right now, this is it.

Feisty heroine, interesting hero, not padded as the usual costume dramas are with fluff

The story may not be original but the acting is excellent, the cinematography is also excellent, and the episodes are well-paced without being padded by unnecessary or wasted material. One of the better period pieces I have watched this year. Along with The Double I find that these less hyped series with less well known stars are turning out to be the best. I am hoping that this excellence continues through the remainder of Blossom but so far I am impressed by the quality and I find myself anticipating and looking forward to each episode as it is released which to me is the mark of a good drama. Plus the two leads have excellent chemistry so the connection between them and their love story is very believable.

Another Sigh mid way

I was really excited finding out that this drama was on Ntfx because I really the novel. I watched it right away on the first day it was added.
I found that the opening of Blossom was really grand and cinematic. It gave me a high expectation.

Then came the fillers and it became boring.

Well, to be honest, my review is not only intended for this drama specifically, but to almost all C-dramas.

Generally they started great, just like this one. It successfully piqued the viewers curiosity on the first episode, but the filler stories are too much.

Why are many C-dramas filled with conflict between children and step parent? I think it's way too much. Moreover, it existed in the dramas that aired almost at the same period of time, making it really obvious, for example, this drama, the Rise of Ning, the Double, and many more.

I hope there will be improvement in cdramas in term plot and story. It's okay to improvise the novel as long as it doesn't make things become boring.

THE MOST BEAUTIFULLY EXECUTED STORYLINE EVER .

Where do I even start Oh my god!
The entire storyline is so well thought out and meticulously executed.
SONG MO AND DOU ZHAO are literally so so beautiful.
This is one of the very first historical cdramas that I've loved so much after untamed.
Dou zhao is a witty, kind and a master of all trades. The way she handles things is so graceful and inspiring.
Song mo is the perfect example of a true loyal soldier.
The story doesn't lose its texture and multilayered narrative throughout the 34 episodes.
When I think of evenly matched love , Dou Zhao and Song Mo are definitely going to be the first couple I think about.
What makes this drama even more wonderful is how it's navigates around each character and not only focuses on the revenge and romance plotline.

All in all , please do watch it and spread the love guys .

Such a masterpiece. A golden treaure and a great story of

second chances and powerful characters. This is how Chinese dramas should be written I was revited from beginning to end. Dou Zhao was definitely one of the best FL's I've seen in CDramas. Strong, courageous, determinedto change not onlyher fate but that of others as well. She was brilliantly acted by Men Ziyi too. Song Mo is someone that is also someone who is driven by his desire for justice and love for his family. His sense of justice can bring him very close to comitting hideous acts but his patience and his love for his wife always manage to pull him back. Itwas great to see Li Yunri leading his first drama, he's excellent and will go far with his talent.
The love story of Zhao and Mo was beautiful I love how they worked as a team not only in terms of fighting for justice but in their relationship too. When he needed to take a stepback and think clearly, she was always there offering her hand and he took it. Their relationship was so healthy for that matter. All their battles they fought them together even when they didn't know each other. That was how strong their bond was. Fate brought them together for a reason. I wish more writers would write their main couple like this.
As for the story it keeps you engaged from the first moment. The twists and turns keep you at the edge of your seat you want the heroes to suceeed and the villains to pay (and oh boy do they pay.) I highly recommend this drama.
Overall, 10/10 and I will be watching it over and over again.

Best Drama of The Year!!

Rarely do I get a drama where I do not fast forward or skip any scenes. This drama was so good and kept me engaged in every scene, every episode. I watched everything so intensely and did not find the need to skip through at all because the pace, the story, the characters, and the way the plot unfolds was perfect--*chef's kiss*. Similar to what other have said, I started this drama not expecting much and the lead actors are also new to me so I wasn't sure how their skills were, but the drama and the leads both reached and exceeded beyond my expectations!

Usually most long costume dramas (30+episodes) have at least one or two plot holes where something just does not make sense, but I feel like with this drama they did a great job not leaving any plot holes--they also did a great job adding twists to the story that made sense. I loved how each arch was thoroughly laid out and transitioned so that it's interesting, but not confusing to the viewers.

The ML and FL surprised me with how well they acted their roles! They are fresh faces to me and I have to say I am now a big fan of both. Their on-screen chemistry was SO good. Their on-screen romance with each scene was so sweet and full of emotions; they really brought their characters to life. I love the character of FL; she is very smart, resourceful, quick-thinking, and is the type of character that can protect herself well on her own--my favorite type of FL! Makes you feel satisfied watching her lay out her plans.

All in all, this drama is so good that I found myself binge-watching all the episodes within 3-4 days. 100% would re-watch again and again. Definitely my top drama of this year!

it is time travel

i actually thought of dropping it at first but saw the ending it was satisfying to wtch especially my favourite genre i like everything about it the female leads especially no betrayal support for each til the end there freindship was not estroyed by a man i loved the way they stuck with each from the start especially the princess and the female lead no matter the argument they stuck together despite them not sharing bllod relationship even dou zhao sister despite her mother discord i felt bad that she did not save her mom the second time that is the only thing that disheartens and the the death of her sister the husband failed both of them

Excellent Year End ?

I saw reels, Li Yun Rui in white hairs flying in air with a hoodie. Loved him as Yuan Shen in LLTG😍 After DONG HUA DIJUN;
Li Yun Rui is the only C drama actor ; i liked in white hairs.He was so comfortable in that look👍👍👍
I was curious, thought will watch only one episode , but that bow in shot where they fell and overlap each other took my 😮
REBORN/REBIRTH is my favorite topic including revenge.This one was only rebirth, but still interested. So, as episodes moved on and story got unfold it was pleasure watching this drama.Everything was perfect; the story telling; execution for every characters was nice. Last one year i was loosing interest. in C Drama and lost all interest in K Drama.So, mostly fwd the scene and watch because story is predictable. Sometimes, you come across the drama where why those characters did things director is not able to explain.Here each and every characters were explain ,motives were explained . A very detailed drama .I was not able to fast forward or skip scene. as they were interconnected. I finished watching it today on this weekend ; and fully satisfied . Couple onscreen chemistry is good. Although, i have never seen FL before ; saw her first time , but she was into the character as if she is Dou Zhao herself. End was totally satisfying.
