Real, emotional and a must watch!

Touching
Finished itlike 3 days ago.Today: 28 nov 23
I enjoyed it. I really liked the 2nd romance couple. Our main couple were cute too.
The love triangle was unnecessary.
The drama overall was touching and
they were moments i cried.
I didnt really connect with darun's character, like she just seemed bland especially compered to other characters ( both side & other main's), they all had things unique to them. What i liked the most about her is that bo young played her 😉

Drama that talks about Mental Illness
Mental illness is not a plaguing problem just in South Korea this concerns all of us no matter where we are from. Daily dose of sunshine poignantly explores the world of psychiatric care. Directed like a procedural, each episode spotlights a unique mental illness drawing inspiration from real life cases. Drama is educational, a conversation starter that is a genuine attempt at trying to remove the stigma of mental illness. Dialogues are carefully crafted with the intention to inform not lecture the audience. Narrative does not offer easy solutions because there is no permanent cure, if you want to live you manage your symptoms and adapt to the new you.The patients are not just mere symptoms and the doctors and nurses are not just plain scrubs. Audience can easily empathize with each character as each condition is carefully presented with the appropriate backstory grounded in sincere performances. Patient’s struggles dissect with the nurse’s lives, who have their own personal battles. Nurse Jung Da Eun is our POV character played with endless kindness by Park Bo Young. She has all the qualities of a great nurse, her character growth is about finding the balance between kind-heartedness and being effective at her job, and in between she must take care of her own mental health.
Highlight of the series is when it is pointed out what society is afraid or ashamed to admit. If you fall prey to the breakdown of your mind, the most generous of us, even a psychiatric nurse capable of infinite empathy, and care to others inflicted with mental illness will struggle with perceiving the alignment as being a stain on one’s character.
Drama also addresses various concerns within the health care institution such as the hierarchical power structure, psychiatry being looked down upon, overworked staff and tension between nurses and doctors. We get a splash of delightful romance, and what is a kdrama if we did not have the rich man falling in love with the poor girl. However, the romance does not exist in a void it is there to support the main subject of mental health and self-love.
Verdict
The drama earnestly tries to balance the reality of living with mental illness and optimism of living a full life. It will bring tears to your eyes, but there are moments of levity, joy, hope that when society bands together with compassion and understanding we can uplift each other to reach our potentials. If there are faults it is negligent in comparison to what we gain. A drama with no fast forward moments.

It's perfect on it's own way.
I have mixed feelings, because this show AMAZING, but I don't think 12 episodes was enough. So many things happened with all these characters, but it felt like this is a sprint rather than a marathon. Honestly, I want to give this show a perfect score, because they portrayed a lot of mental problems really well, and basically every character was likeable in some ways. But as much as I love this show, I can't ignore the fact that, with more episodes or fewer characters, it could've been perfect. Sure, we can say that Da Eun's depression wasn't "cured" after 2 days, because she was in the hospital for months, probably, but it didn't felt like that. I could say the same about basically every other main or side character too. Everyone who had a problem, it was "solved" really fast. What was a bit weird is that I don't think there was any OST in the show, or I just don't remember. The acting was top-notch, just like the writing and directing. The visuals were crazy good, and the overall feeling of the show is perfect. So, even they tried to do too much, I wasn't disappointed. I was funny when it needed, and the whole message of the show is probably the main reason why people should watch this.Honestly, I would love to see another season, with new patients. Not to mention, I want to see Min Deul Re again. She was such a great character. Her cute little romance with Hwang was funny, like watching two puppies meeting for the first time.🤣
But with Da Eun and Go Yoon, I didn't felt the chemistry, to be honest. It was a bit weird, and I'm glad the love triangle didn't really happen.

Good to see mental health being addressed in K-drama at last
December 2023Not your usual K-drama topic, but the negativity and ignorance around mental health, as well as other topics that get swept under the carpet, seem to slowly be getting the stage they need, so spreading awareness and highlighting inappropriate behaviour / unfair treatment.
It starts fairly light heartedly, but later becomes more serious with each episode.
It is not, surprisingly, depressing, although there are both frustrating and emotional scenes.
Whilst some might feel it doesn't go far enough in addressing the topics involved, it must be remembered that attitudes there are very behind (generalising now), countries like the UK and USA. I feel it pitches just right to keep the domestic audience engaged, whilst hopefully making those viewers think, without turning them off.
I enjoyed it more than not, loved the cast and the pace suited me.
The romance aspect is rather lovely and the lead characters not typical. Various aspects of mental health are covered, but what stood out to me rather, was how those cases seemed to need a reason behind them, which was usually around family or work, or both.
There is not always a reason, or trigger, and some are unfortunate to simply be born with conditions that become more prominent and obvious, as they grow.
Patients were often spoken to in a cajoling manner, as though talking to kids, which I found patronising and irritating at times.
I did like the storyline around Park Bo-young's character and thought it quite unique. Her mother's chat with someone in a later episode, I thought very realistic and pertinent
Definitely worth a watch, though there is self-harm and suicide references, which may be an issue for some.

You won't regret watching it!
I absolutely loved the show! It goes beyond being just an amazing drama; the portrayal of each mental health issue is incredibly authentic. The actors and actresses did an outstanding job conveying the real emotions someone might experience dealing with these problems. It not only educated me but also provided a fresh perspective on mental health issues. Coming from Iran, discussing mental health is quite a challenge - not exactly a topic you openly share with loved ones; you often find yourself navigating through it solo. This show was a game-changer for me, offering valuable insights into these issues, earning a solid 10/10 in my book. I highly recommend everyone to give it a watch!Considerați utilă această recenzie?
Brilliant show that's emotional, heartwarming and uplifting.
truly so very brilliant, carefully written, greatly emotional, heartwarming and after all quite uplifting. The first episode didn't fully catch my attention, but trust that if you keep watching you'll be in for a great ride. I liked how there was a somber, dark and quirky but muted atmosphere, a show that talks about mental health and tries to break stigmas, that tries to change stereotypes that have been perpetuated by the media for so long.
It's a show that's complex but the natural yet poignant dialogues bring out a very special environment that sets the journey. The acting was truly phenomenal I was very impressed, I think Bo Young did a fantastic job conveying the emotions of her character.
It talks about the different personal experiences in terms of how each case is so unique, even if it's the same illness, and it was showed in a very visual and metaphorical way that almost reminded me of a theater play, though the effects looked a bit strange and inconsistent it was still so valuable and a great element that added another layer to the narrative.
I solidified my thoughts about empathy in the healthcare system, how the healing journey isn't linear, how there shouldn't be shame around the subject and how health doesn't discriminate, that we should set boundaries, how life is so much about perceptions and how our minds can become our own prison, but if we rely on our support system they can become a source of strength, to help us learn more about love and how we should always take care of ourselves.
There are some unrealistic elements as well but this show is very clear in the message that wants to convey and it's very valuable. I truly recommend!
