Three Stars

if the first time around i was angry at Judith, this time i was infuriated by her actions - she keeps going on and on about being an "ally" like plz, she a nosey ass biatch that doesn't have a life of her own. so she keeps poking her nose in everyone elses. and OF COURSE she knows best - who told her to butt in?!? her brother?!? cause he a baby that needs shielding from the world?!? until when?!? well she did one heck of a job this time. ironic that at the end he came to cry in her arms - her good intention's shoved Karl back into the closet and nailed that door shut, if that's not enough it sent her brother straight to hell - the one causing his pain is his dear overbearing buffoon of a sister.****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** if that was me, i would tell her to her face that i don't owe her an explanation, and she can fuck the well off - she was asked to dinner and this is how she repays an act of courtesy?!? i would show that bitch the door. but Karl is too timid and straightforward. he is in a different place and his Uncle was right about him. how long has he even been comfortable with his feeling towards Vlad, that she forcing him out of the closet and demanding to know what his intentions r? that was a moronic move and she should've listened to Anna. instead of telling her to shut-up. if i was Anna i would tell her to STFU, but there is no stopping someone with her personality and the one to suffer is Vlad - again ironic that he turned to her for comfort. ugh insufferable bulldozer!******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************i also get that cause of his past experience's Vlad couldn't understand/remember what Karl's Uncle was saying, let alone the fact that Karl's reaction was cause he got cornered by that buffoon of a sister. he just thinks Karl is another man that wont stand-by-him, so he just disregarded the panic attack Karl was having... sad - this could've gone so much better without all the "good intentions".

The Storm before the Calm

The climax of the season reminding the prequel is nearing its end.And what a climax it is. The roller coaster of emotions once again drive us nuts up to the very last scene of this episode. The montage is a homage for the Thai BL series Dark Blue Kiss esp. the swimming pool scenes.Back to back confrontations and steaming frustrations. As Karl being overwhelmed with unexpected number of visitors invading their safe closeted space.Fan Fact. Former “Sesame Street” writer Mark Saltzman said Bert and Ernie’s relationship was modeled after his own with his life partner, Arnold Glassman. In an exclusive interview with with blog "Queerty," Mark Saltzman said he felt that when he was writing Bert and Ernie, he was writing them as a couple and basing their interactions on his own experiences. However, Sesame Workshop, which produces the show, denies the pair are together, saying they have no sexual orientation but are best friends.

Rating based on personal enjoyment

Almost everyone made me angry in this episode. Judit was way, way out of line and I'm glad Anna called her out for it but I wish she'd done more to stand up for Karl. I don't understand how Vlad can be so unsympathetic to Karl's fear, especially since Vlad has experienced homophobia firsthand before. That doesn't make sense to me. I know there are people like that, but I've never encountered one, so I guess I have trouble reconciling that with my perception of the world. It doesn't make sense to me that Vlad was so quick to call out Karl's internalized homophobia but didn't even stop to consider the internal struggle he must be facing. I get that Vlad has been hurt in the past, but Karl hasn't done anything wrong. Karl didn't even reject him? He just needed some time. Vad is blaming Karl for letting his fear lead him, but Vlad is also angry because of his own fear. I guess we don't always realize these things when they happen to us, though. I guess it's realistic, to some extent, but it was still painful for me to watch. I liked what Karl's uncle told Vlad about coming out and giving people time; I wish he'd taken it more to heart.A lot of people loved this episode and I can understand why, to some extent. I appreciate that this show addresses real struggles that are specific to the LGBTQ+ community, I really do. At the same time, it makes it more stressful for me to watch than I think I was prepared for. This specific issue of being outed is one of the most stressful for me, so that's probably most of why this rating is so much lower than was probably expected. The fact that there were multiple people - both Judit and Vlad - pressuring Karl to come out was a little overwhelming. My overall rating of the show will be dependent on how the "outing" is ultimately painted. If Vlad and Judit learn from their mistakes, or if Karl ends up grateful for it.

God Tier BL Series

Definitely one of the best BL for year 2020. From the plot, casts, production, cinematography up to soundtracks, everything was superb. This show is more than a BL series. This tackles some of the issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community. This series is a protest itself that aims to correct the problematic cultures revolving outside and inside the community. The actors were great portraying their roles. You'll definitely relate or connect to them as the story progresses. Plus one of the actors' voice is so hot af that you'll want to listen to him talk all day. So its 10/10 and will 100% recommend to those who wants to watch BL series.

It hurts but it shows what we've been through

It shows how the society changes the decision of one people and and hurt them by fitting in this type of stereotypes

Characters with Depth

This series really takes the BL genre to the next level. What I really liked about this episode is that the behavior of the characters are so realistic to the point that it allows the audience to relate and think about it. In addition, the writing is also executed in a way that the audience would not be able to take sides since every character is valid for their reactions.

So relatable it hurts

***SPOILER ALERT***Well, just want to comment on the whole outing others issue:It is not fun when it happens. Sometimes you are just not ready.Sometimes, even if you are open and don't necessary is afraid or ashamed of it, it can be uncomfortable as you might not been entirely prepared. If you are not in the open, if you still in the discovery-mode, its a freaking sensitive thing.I feel with Karl. His love feels so real but in a bubble.Like Judit said about Vlads love being loud, well, it popped Karls bubble pretty bad.It felt so real it hurted over here. But the kiss was really beautiful!

A stunning study of how imperfect humans are, but that the imperfection is what makes us beautiful.

Gaya sa Pelikula is the standard, not just for bls, but for stories in general. It’s so raw, so personal, so beautiful. Both Karl and Vlad’s problems and pains are so, so real. Neither are truly in the wrong here. Vlad has been hurt before by loving someone who wasn’t ready yet, and he repeated the same thing again. He just wants to feel loved by someone who is not ashamed of loving him, and by god, he deserves to feel wanted and appreciated. Karl, on the other hand, is so confused, and rightfully so. Throughout the entire show we see timid Karl who is so afraid of the world and what his parents might think. Vlad gave him the courage to stand up to his parents, but that does not mean Karl changed overnight. He’s still scared, still unsure, and he’s allowed to be. Dealing with one’s sexuality is a scary process that sometimes takes years, so it’s understandable that he panicked when he was being cornered. Both boys are right to be hurt and confused right now. And Gaya sa Pelikula is beautiful in that regard that humans are imperfect, but it is through this imperfection that we find beauty. An absolute masterpiece and I applaud the cast and crew for giving us this stellar show, and I hope to see them again in season 2!

Gaya Sa Pelikula (2020) Episode 7

Another 10/10 episode. Without a doubt, Episode 7 is Gaya Sa Pelikula's best episode so far. The main conflict of this series was brought to the fore on this penultimate episode. While Ate (Older Sister) Judit, Tito (Uncle) Santi, and Anna's meddling (definitely borne our of love, whether we agree with them or not) provided complications, at end of the day, the main issue of this series has always been the effect of Karl and Vlad's conflicting views of their own sexual orientation and gender identity and expression on their feelings for each other. Karl's still in the denial while Vlad's out and proud. I've known a lot of Karls and Vlads in my life so I really found them relatable. Screenplay was realistic. In terms of acting, Ian and Paolo were at their best on this episode. Audio-visuals were solid. The apartment (indoors and outdoors) they used looked quite nice. The OSTs were also good. I can't believe next week's the finale!
