If I was a crier, I would have sobbed

I'm a bit stunned by this episode... not in a bad way. I'm very impressed with the writing for this show, as well as the acting. I mean... just stellar. The writers are brave. They took a risk and it works because the actors really did an outstanding job. Very, very impressed.

What an unexpected twist

What I loved about this episode is that they were not afraid to go to that plot since the actors can really carry those heavy scenes. This made the series more relevant than ever.

Basically A Calm Before The Storm

I think the trust issues of the viewers started because of the repeatedly open endings from previous episodes, but this totally took it to another level. A continuation from the confrontation scene, a look of Gav's own insecurity, and a BAD NEWS. A rollercoaster ride of emotions with a drop of bittermelon.

Brilliant storytelling and acting

Absolutely wrecked by the tension and the closing of this episode. Well-acted, well-directed, and as always, well-written.

Multiple Shockwaves Ahead

This episode started with partially resolving the cliffhanger left by the previous episode. I love how plotwise it’s really seamless and sensible that Gav consistently shows us how we should believe that his feelings for Cai is genuine. He’s a knight in shining armor here by saving Cai from being forcedly put in a spot by Terrence. This settled, the Title of the episode puts us in a painful ride of Cai’s underlying personal issues which was hurled to him (and us viewers) faster than a slap on a face. Such a maelstrom of emotions, this episode has brought. From happy and hopeful to grief and sorrow. I rewatched this episode multiple times and it had the same effect, tearful ending. I watched others’ reaction videos who took in the episode the same weight of shock and tearful sorrow.Perfect acting from all the cast members. Never a moment when I felt anything was forced. Elijah Canlas shines here, and he deserves an acting award for his performance. Kokoy de Santos is consistently great in his performance as Gav while reinforcing and supporting Cai whom Gav has shown us that he clearly and genuinely loves despite the circumstances. Adrianna So’s Pearl is such a great buffer in the bunch. She deserves the offshoot GL Series in the works for her. The supporting characters Leila and London (Cai’s mom and elder brother) were perfectly portrayed and they deserve accolades and cheers. Plot is seamless even if it still doesn’t give us full revelations about what what Cai went through which caused his current pain. It’s so hard to guess what happens next. Making the days longer before episode 8.Perfect episode! But please, stop the hurting! We all had enough crying.

Five Stars

This episode deserve all the recognition and acclaim! The way this episode fleshed out Cairo's character giving himore depth and making the viewers understand where he is all coming from emotionally and why his wall is high. Damn. I've watched this ep repeatedly and still get same feeling. Congratulations to the cast and crew of this series! Y'all outdid yourselves with this episode! The best!

A rollercoaster episode

This episode will take you to the emotional highs and lows of romantic love plus a healthy dose of family drama. Episode 7 started out with the love triangle online confrontation that eventually fizzled out with the important question still left unanswered. Next we get the virtual party of Pearl, Gav and Cai with the latter dunking his oreos in a wine glass filled with milk (how cute!). The teasing continues with the male leads until family drama came into the picture courtesy of Cai's brother and mother. We have to appreciate the efforts of the writer and director in making this not just the usual love flick but also having a more relevant theme which is in tune with the current times. Despite the blooming love story of the GavCai ship, their happiness is now tempered with the realism of the difficulties and eventual tragic death of a family member. Despite the relentless teasing (which by now gets old already) by Gav and now added with unresolved feelings and non-commital expressions by Cai, I still gave this episode a high rating mostly because of one fact - the outstanding acting skills of Elijah Canlas who is playing one of the main characters. Cai is definitely the star in this episode. I have to admit that when this series started, I did not like his acting that much especially since he was eclipsed by the more talented Kokoy (who plays Gav). His performance now seems more natural and convincing especially during those scenes with his brother and mother. Truly heart-wrenching scenes! Apart from his acting, I found Cai more handsome in this episode because of his haircut. In fact, I like his image now even when he wears that headband. Although I used to find it 'baduy', I now realize it's not the headband per se that I didn't like but Cai's haircut that goes along with it. Now, Cai is more dashing and cuter than Gav (sorry Kokoy haha). Thank you to the production team for Cai's new style. :-DAfter the Terrence love triangle drama in the previous episode, we now have to contend with the Cai's family drama. Speaking of family, the performance of the actors playing Cai's brother and mother were also quite good. I just hope this level of acting performance by all actors will be carried on until the last episode (fingers crossed).

Gameboys (2020) Episode 7: The Elephant in the Room

10+ out of 10. I'm not mad that we didn't get Cairo's "Yes" in this episode. The elephant in the room was not really his answer to Terrence's question. The elephant in the room has always been about Cairo's father and his relationship with his family. Episode 7: The Elephant in the Room reminded me of the centrality of family for a lot of Filipinos and the difficulty of navigating within this unit especially if you belong to the LGBTQ+ community. It also reminded me that the pandemic is real and that people are dying. I've watched a lot of boys' love (BL) series, and when I say a lot, I mean a lot, but the last scene from this episode is one of the most, if not the most heartbreaking scene I've ever seen. Acting was at its best in this episode. Adrianna's Pearl was an effective happy relief from the overall despair in this episode. Sue Prado, who portrayed Cairo's mother proved that you don't need to be hysterical to show great sorrow. The way she showed quiet grief was simply amazing. Kokoy's Gav showed a lot of character development in this episode. The facade of confidence was broken down in this episode that gave way to a sensitive Gav with doubts and insecurities. The last scene where Gav cried with Cairo was very powerful, overshadowed only by the greatness of Elijah. Man, I've watched this episode three times already and in all three times, Elijah made me cry with him. I love Elijah. But so as not to end this comment in gloom, I would like to point out that we did get some romantic and sexy scenes from this episode. The scene where Cairo and Gav paused for a few seconds while dancing just to look into each other's eyes was a very intimate moment. For the sexy scene... Gav taking a shower... need I say more? Lol. Three episodes left! I hope we get a happy ending on Episode 10. I don't want to wait for the movie or Season 2 to get a happy ending! Direk Ivan, please give us our happy ending!
