Restart After Come Back Home (2020)

A sweet story that will warm your heart

"Restart After Come Back Home" sits at the very top of my rewatch list, it is a gentle and comforting story that I never get tired of revisiting from time to time.

I have to admit I am a bit biased towards a countryside setting, it feels quite nostalgic and I always appreciate the beautiful scenery.

I am not by any means a cinephile and I am not familiar with the technical vocabulary. However, as a layperson, I can say that I really liked the photography and its colouring. I also found the pared back filming tecnique really lovely and suited to the tone of the story.
The score is very nice and fitting, I especially liked what I think is the main theme with its "flute-like" melody.

I am a sucker for a good grumpy/sunshine pairing and I think they handled the relationship development quite well. We get to know the sunshine character's backstory and see what lies under his always-happy façade. Conversely, we see the grumpy character slowly showing his sweet side and his fierce loyalty.
We even got a couple of pecks, which is always a pleasant surprise in a Japanese BL.

I really liked Furukawa Yuki and Ryusei Ryo's acting, they were especially good at conveying subtle emotions with their eyes and expressions. I have to say that the scene at the Tokyo playground always gets me teary-eyed.

I highly recommend this little gem of a movie!

I guess my expectation was way too high

It started with an office work problem, resigned, decided to come back to parent's home, and accidentally met this soon-to-be-special someone there. Yes, a mainstream plot one. Interestingly, this movie could deliver this mainstream plot in such a warm way through their cinematography, and their choice of place and occupation included in this movie. It's like being hugged by my birthgiver (love you, mom) while watching this whole movie. But, unfortunately, they left the important thing hanging which was their parent's opinion about their relationship, like how they'd tell their parents and on what occasion they'd tell them. I'm dying to knowwww, please :( Not to mention their lack to portray how the cast's feelings developed, it's just happened. Aside from all that minuses, Yuuki and Ryo also the others are really great actors. I'm way beyond excited when I knew they'd be in the same movie as a couple, I mean they are both my fave!! What a beautiful yet shocking coincidence!! Anyways, overall it's a great movie even if it's not meeting my way-too-high expectation, maybe just three quarters? that's good already.

Fresh breath of air but.......

This is such a fresh breath of air. I found myself crying because I kind of relate to Mitsuomi. I mean, I feel like I am in a crisis too. The energy of Yamato uplifts me too! This is such a nice movie but I kind of wish that it was a bit longer since I feel like the ending seems rushed. I want to see some progress in their relationship, so I think it would be awesome if you will give us a sequel. I didn't think it was boring, I enjoyed it so much! I just want it to be longer so we can see how they would act as lovers. It would be nice to see their healing journey together.

Must watch for romantics

So I came across this movie quite by accident, through an edit which was posted on youtube. It was so cute that I had to look for and see the full movie.

Mitsuoami resigns from his stress filled job in Tokyo and returns to his small hometown to restart and think things over. There, he meets Yamato, his previous caretaker's adopted son. Innocent and guileless unlike his city counterparts, Mitsuomi is drawn to his innocence and ever lasting optimism. He's like a spot of sunshine in his rainfilled gloomy life.
Yamato convinces him to work at their farm and Mitsuomi gets slowly but surely sucked into Yamato's charm, while the latter is completely unaware of Mitsuomi's feelings towards him. So much so that even when Mitsuomi confesses his feelings for him, he doesn't get scandalised nor pushes him away. Just asks him for some time to sort his feelings. Considering that they are already such good friends and depend on each other quite a bit, by then.

It's a small, short and straightforward story much like the simple character of Yamato, devoid of any unnecessary drama and heartburn. It is so simple that one would wish more stories were like this one. Not to mention the extremely satisfying and sweet ending...again, devoid of much drama.

Truly Lovely

Atmospheric study in rural Japan meets complex family dynamics built on a romance framework of city boy meets country boy, as a grumpy/sunshine pairing. It’s beautiful, compelling, and kind of icy sweet. Slow moving in places but ultimately worth the patience. It's low heat, low angst, and very pretty.

I highly recommend it, I thought is was something rather special. Make yourself a lovely hot beverage, cuddle up in a fuzzy blanket, and enjoy. You won’t regret an evening spent with these two.

Calm but sweet movie

I just finished watching so this review is fresh from my mind. The movie is enjoyable, and the acting and characters are interesting. You want to know more about them and their experiences because the movie shows the past, present, and future of the characters. The movie focuses a lot on the two main characters and the struggles they deal with personally more so than the relationship of the two. Yamato is adopted and struggles with his emotions and being open and honest, and Mitsuomi left the countryside to seek excitement in the big city. This movie focuses on character interactions and less on romantic scenes. The ending is open but positive. You can tell what will happen in the future after the movie, but you still want to see more scenes. The relationship of the two is a unique take from what is previously seen in BL. The characters embrace the unexpected same-sex attraction rather easily and are happy to be with each other. Overall, this is a good movie to watch. It is not flashy or show-stopping, but I am glad that I watched it.

Really sweet.

I found this drama realistic and really sweet. I usually prefere school romance dramas but this made my heart melt multiple times and i actually cried a lot during the movie, there is happy ending yes, but the story makes you get affecionated to the characters and personally im really empathic and even tho i personally don't relate much to the character experiences, i felt them like they were my own struggles, and i think that a story and an acting that makes you feel this way it has to be praised. So i have to give it a ten out of ten, and i highly reccommed it if you like soft romance. I also loved the characterization of the characters, they realistic feelings and realistic reactions, and that's what i appreciate in any sort of fiction.

A Masterpiece!

This is a gem and a tremendous work of art and a cinematic experience. It is all so breathtakingly beautiful and poignant, loving, and reflective morality. There are some scenes in this movie that ought to be studied by all who are studying to be actors, directors, and film professionals. Sometimes, simplicity is best and a solid story of human understanding. The scene on the swings (for those of you who have seen the movie) is one of the best filmed interactions between two people I have ever seen. Quiet. Reflective. Child-like. And so moving. Sheer brilliance. One of the Best BL Movies I have ever seen!

Big Win For The Country Gays

This is an understated, exceedingly tender slice-of-life story about finding where you belong and figuring out what brings you the most joy in life. So naturally I came running at top speed as soon as I heard about it and I was not disappointed.
The movie is visually stunning, which makes sense given the gorgeous scenery it has as a backdrop.
The writing and acting are both very solid, but what really surprised me was the quiet charm this movie brings to the table. This could easily have been nothing more than Japan's answer to God's Own Country (don't get me wrong, I love that movie but it does strike a very somber tone) but what we got instead is an absolutely heartwarming story with a very down-to-earth yet uplifting feel to it.

If you like looking at beautiful rural landscapes and/or watching sweet and sincere romances grounded in solid friendship, then this one is for you!

Interesante y acojedora

Chaval vuelve a su pueblo tras años viviendo en Tokio. Entonces conoce a un chico, adoptado por un abuelo del pueblo. El padre del prota no le quiere dejar el negocio familiar, así que va a trabajar en la fruta con el chico y el abuelo. Y se hacen muy amigos.

La película está bien. La escenografía es muy agradable, retrata fantásticamente el ambiente rural del pueblo, y los problemas que las zonas rurales pueden ocasionar, en este caso, para el colectivo y para las personas adoptadas. En general la trama se me hizo demasiado ligera, ya que venia buscando un BL y no es que no lo sea pero pasan un poco de puntillas. Aunque a pesar de todo me gustó, ya que han apostado por una trama algo diferente y meten problematicas poco comunes como la adopción, y eso me pareció intersante.

La relación que construyen los protagonistas para mi gusto les faltó desarrollo, pero a pesar de ello, me ha resultado muy linda y acojedora. Si ves la película sin esperar nada, es una película entretenida. Los actores me han gustado bastante, hacen que te involucres en su historia y resultan agradables y divertidos.

Si es verdad que el final se me queda algo soso, pero teniendo en cuenta que es una película y que realmente, durante el desarrollo, tampoco tiene demasiadas pretensiones ni giros de guión dramáticos, está bien.

¿Recomiendo verla? Pues si, echas un buen rato
