Characters were messed up for plots sake
I really feel a 5 is a good number for how I felt watching this second season.I would have left this whole story (1st and 2nd season) happier if I just stopped at the 1st, tho I don't know if I regret watching it all, at least I can be angry with all the info haha.
A person that liked this season said some very valid points in favor of this season, so I would recommend reading some good reviews, because I do feel is a matter of perspective and taste.
I've read other reviews and I think they sum up pretty well what was wrong with it, but here's a short (and spoilery) review.
*****Spoilers ahead*****
Things I liked:
- Hye-Young is such a nice and lovely character, and he was respectful with Jojo all the time and that was great so see.
- Jojo's university friend is the very best (I wish we've gotten more of here).
- Gul-Mi's character, she grows so much, but doesn't stop being quite shallow (I love consistency, it wouldn't make much she changed her base personality, ***like other characters did***).
-Duk-gu's appearance was perfect, he stayed true to himself, and helped everyone he had set up to help.
- Sunho and Jojo's goodbye was pretty, it made me cry (and it was totally not enough).
- The acting was great, I've already watched Kim So-Hyun in "School 2015" and I enjoyed her, she did very well, and Song Kang is amazing to watch, I'll definitely be following him more. Go Min-Si, Jung Ga-Ram and Kim Si-Eun also did a very good job. Someone said this in other review from this page, and it made lot of sense to me, an I quote: "I must admit actors did a great job portraying their characters with what was given to them".
I didn't like (at all):
- The obvious and mayor complain is about Sunho, for me is not even like they changed him, he was just dropped and left stuck in the saddness:
-He is kind of forgotten mainly by Jojo, who runs from him every chance, never gives him an explanation tho' she always seems to care for him in a romantic way (that at the end was just her being confused, other review said that he was pressuring her when she clearly didn't love him, and on this I have 2 things to say, one is that I agree that he pressured her too much, which I didn't like, but I disagree with the part of she being clear, I felt she wasn't really clear until episode 4-5, and when she finally is clear, he backs away), he ends up figuring out why she left him all by himself (and thank's god he did) and then we're supposed to be satisfied with the convo at the end, something that may have happened if it took place a bunch of episodes back.
-I also felt that his friendship with Hye-Young was totally wasted, they fight at the start (or last season? I can't remember), and from that they're basically strangers, and I hated it so very much, they recovering their brotherhood would have been a beautiful addition to the story.
-On the other hand he himself never does an effort to get over the heartbreak until the very end, and when he does it's following the awful advice his mother gave him (basically fake it til' you make it), which is so sad and unfulfilling. He really deserved so much better than what the writers gave him and it makes me so mad.
- Suddently the mother cares in this season, when the last she didn't show any sings whatsoever of it (and as I said, gives him terrible advice).
-Talking about weird changes of personality, with no reason Jojo's aunt doesn't hate her at all, and she even likes here, and it makes no sense (I wasn't that bothered about it as I was with Sunho's mother cuz at least Jojo's aunt is a little helpful).
- Jojo was overall just a mess, and tho part of it makes sense (and that I liked), other part feels forced to make things happen, the writers changed her so much I barely remember how she was the 1st season.
- The thing with the spear and the fight it created between J and H was so weird and I felt missed the point with the real issues, like, he thinks she's lying bc she decided to make his alarm sound? Like... that's how life works... Idk, maybe it makes some sense, but with all the repertory of stuff he had to be angry, than the writers chose that is a waste. On the same like, I have a similar issue with Jojo in regards to Hye-Young as with Sunho, and it's the fact that she never gives any explanation for her actions, and that's an issue she also has in season 1, but as I always percived it as a main problem, I was hoping it was something she learned, but we only get a tiny glimpses of it, she never really explains the more important stuff to anyone, and that leaves the relationship between her and HY with an unfinished feeling to it.
- Overall it feels like the writers had a story they wanted to show, but it didn't fit the characters they had, so they just messed up the characters.

What a poop did I just watched!!!!
I never wrote any reviews before, but after watching this series I had to write one. I was so excited about Love alarm2. First one was nice but this season?!? Oh boy!! I WAS NOT SONGKANG FAN BUT AFTER FINISHING THE FIRST SEASON I BECAME HIS FAN ONLY. I hate Jojo and Hye yong both. What kind of terrible persons are they. They both used San-oh. They both and their chemistry was super boring. I skipped maximum of season 2. San-oh was the life of this show and he got nothing except crying. The ending was pathetic. Jojo was forcing herself to love hye yong, like why man why? She's nothing but a selfish bitch. He was the one who loved the girl first so what???? BULLSHIT!!! And the director and the script writer re you guys having weed while you were writing and making this show? Even my 12 years younger sister could write something better than this. You guys just used Songkang's face value and his fandom. We supposed to enjoy K-drama not frustration, so wtf is this???
Ahhh! Such a DISGUSTING series I've just watched and highly recommending you to not watch it. It's not worth your time. This series will provide you nothing but HEARTACHE, FRUSTRATION, DEPRESSION, and obviously will make you HATE THIS DRAMA.
So if you watched the first season just stop there.

Waste of time. Do not watch.
I feel like this second season was a complete waste of time seeing as nothing changed between the end of season 1 and the end of season 2. The situation remained the same so season 2 might as well not exist. There was no character development whatsoever, unless you count Jojo becoming more and more irritating. She's honestly the worst female lead I've ever seen in a drama. Are we supposed to feel sorry for her because of what her parents did? In season 1, because of the way Gul-mi and her aunt are treating her, we're led to believe that she did something terrible, but it turns out it wasn't her fault. I thought we'd learn something new in season 2 but nope, so I guess the way they treated her never made sense in the first place. She did nothing wrong, and also they kept saying she was mooching off of them, even though she worked two jobs and paid rent? Also, her aunt suddenly being nicer to her in season 2 was kinda random.
The whole Duk-gu plotline was so dumb. It was really obvious from the beginning that he and Brian were brothers because of the last name and how Jojo's friend says "they could be brothers" when they do the face analysis. Not sure if we were supposed to be shocked? And it looks like Duk-gu is supposed to be the good guy, but to me it just seems like he gave Jojo the shield so Hye-yeong would have a chance with Jojo because he felt sorry for him. So basically, he meddled with Jojo and Sun-oh's relationship? What a great guy.
Then there's Jojo acting like she liked Hye-yeong from the moment she saw him in the nurse's office in season 1, but there was no sign of her liking him at all until halfway through season 2, and all of it felt so forced. It felt like she was just pretending to like him out of pity. Seriously, what a boring character. He's dull and plain-looking and has no redeeming qualities. He's obsessed with Jojo and it's honestly pathetic how he's willing to date her even if she never likes him back just because he wants her by his side.
Jojo clearly liked Sun-oh up until she got the shield, and even after season 2 it's still not clear why she installed it other than "I was scared". Scared of what? Sun-oh helped her through her trauma on Jeju island, and then she just dumps him for no reason? She never does give him a decent explanation. Also, they mention her meeting Sun-oh's mom after the accident, but we never find out what happened or what was said. So many plotholes and things that lead nowhere. What was the point of Hye-yeong's dad being in prison? What was the point of the crazy guy who killed people because of The Ringing World? Why is Jojo suddenly this great artist in season 2? It's never mentioned at any point that she likes to draw, and no one is impressed by her talent when they discover that she's the artist. We know nothing about her other than she works two jobs to pay back her mom's debt and she's a compulsive liar who doesn't care about other people's feelings.
All the characters were awful, except for Sun-oh and, surprisingly, Gul-mi. She was believable as a mean girl (even if her reason to hate Jojo made no sense) and she was passionate about things. First, becoming an idol, then becoming a content creator, and then becoming a member of the Badge Club. She had more character development than all the other characters combined.
Sun-oh came off as a bit creepy in season 1 at first when he brought Jojo in an alley and asked if he could kiss her, but it's later clear that no one in his life has ever liked him and that she's the only one that makes him feel something positive. It's ridiculous that he apologises to Jojo after reading her instagram post as if her non-explanation somehow justifies the way she treated him. And again, season 2 didn't solve or explain anything. Sun-oh is still as hurt and confused in the end as he was at the end of season 1 and he's stuck with a girlfriend he'll probably never like, if we're to believe what Yuk-jo tells Jojo outside the store.
So, what's the moral of the story supposed to be exactly? The very first scene of season 1 makes it seem like the point is that Love Alarm is a terrible invention, which is further reinforced by the fact that it divides the population (What happened to the Anti-Love Alarm people btw?) and causes suicides and crimes, but Duk-gu says it was meant to be invented? Why is he against Love Alarm 2.0 if it helps prevent suicides? Also, how can he be against 2.0 if his goal was for Jojo to consider Hye-yeong as a potential boyfriend? Instead of giving her the shield, wouldn't she have seen Hye-yeong on the list with 2.0 anyway? I think I'm thinking too hard about this poorly-written mess.

Disappointed
After waiting 2 years for season 2, I ended up feeling very disappointed. This season felt frustrating and depressing to watch I almost stopped watching after ep 3. Season 1 felt lighthearted and cute with its serious moments, but it didn’t feel too serious. The soundtrack sucked and they reused some old songs from the first season which is pretty lazy imo, the wardrobe wasn’t as good as the first season, and there was a lot of unanswered questions. If they could redo the second season with the first director that would be lovely.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Disappointed
I was very disappointed with the ending and it didnt make sense. From begining of season 2 her relationship with the 2nd lead felt forced where as the 1st lead held her heart and even with that she ended up with the 2nd lead.It felt like she was forcing herself. She never gave explanation to SO. I was hoping for a twist at the end where JJ and So get back together. BUT the writers had somethinh else in mind. I honestly did see any passion or chemistry betwee JJ and the 2nd lead.
I was hoping to rewatch it but it was heart breaking the 1st time why should i??

disappointed
tldr: im no drama producer but the change in director threw this show down the drain. don't change the tone to seem more adult and mature if you can't follow through with the character development and dont add dystopian type elements if you're going to leave the storyline hanging. oh and holy shit please give sunoh a real apology??-
i dont really write reviews but dear god do i have a lot to say about this drama. i dont know if im even going to bother watching episode six as i've read the spoilers but i still think i can express my thoughts without fully seeing episode six. i want to preface this with my problems dont come from the hy x jj endgame, i know a lot of negativity is being written off for that reason but for what it's worth my own problems with the drama are more than the endgame.
listen if you want to tell your writers to go off the rails and let your new director take a completely different direction i'm in no place to stop you but i dont think i've ever seen it be done as bad as this. love alarm is a fantastic concept (the forever unmuted phone problem aside) and im disappointed it turned to this. i knew it would feel different - they're adults and far more mature than they would have been in season one but it didnt feel mature. it felt like they were trying to make me think everyone had grown up and the characters had developed even though they were still being written as kids in adult bodies. that's what made almost everything about jj/so/hy's interactions feel so forced to me.
in season one i could feel bad for jojo. when she said she put up the shield to 'protect' sunoh i could acknowledge that was a stupid decision that could have been fixed with communication but i understood why she did it, especially considering she was a kid. in season two she never considered either sunoh or hyeyoungs feelings and yet jojo kept being written as the victim? like how could you expect me to feel bad for her? shes an ADULT now... why is she still doing all that running she did as a literal teenager? she put up that shield without considering sunoh's feelings but i wrote it off as her being a kid. then four or so years later she never actually apologises to sunoh properly and would probably have let him live with the heartbreak if he didn't confront her after finally finding out what she did after all these years. she never considered how hyeyoung might feel about receiving that spear. when he first talks to sunoh about it in ep5 he's clearly gutted and emphasies to jojo later on that he would wait for her as long as her actions were sincere, implying he understands how the spear's love (for lack of better phrasing) wasn't actually real.
there are going to be parts in shows where you get confused, where you think that a different direction should have been taken. but when i'm consistently confused as to why this character would keep doing this thing then there's clearly something wrong. by ep three me and my friend were barely paying attention. everything we saw just made us irritated and we were so bored of seeing jojo keep running from her problems but not before trying to 'fix' them exclusively in her favour of course! there was no attempt at all to develop her character, she kept running and adding more fuel to the fire and then running again. sunoh wasn't developed well either, he was kept as this sad teen boy who's life revolves around whether jojo likes him or not and i get that the shield situation broke his heart but they're OLDER and MATURED and DIFFERENT now. if you're going to change the whole tone of the show to try and make it seem more adult then you need to develop the characters too.
parts i did like and things that could have been tweaked a little to become better imo. i thought gulmi was super funny, especially when she was going so out of her way to gain hearts. sure she's not really a good person but i found the things she did and her personality quite fun despite being as irritating as she was in season one. somehow she feels like the only character they tried to develop. i also found the dead bodies thing and the whole ringing world instagram account interesting but it felt like they just left it at what we had in season one. they threw in a couple shots of the dead bodies in this season, had a couple scenes that referenced it when jojo looked at her drawings and that was basically it. overall, i felt like the show was structured quite poorly? parts of plots were thrown in and moved on from too quickly and some like the dead bodies were just left undeveloped. but i think that's just a me being stupid thing lmao. oh i also liked yukjo too, i wish they built her up a bit more rather than just being sunoh's girl because this whole thing must have had a huge effect on her. this was truly such a waste of a great cast.
final thoughts, im incredibly disappointed as this had so much potential. nothing felt logical, jojo did things for what felt like no real reason and there was no real apology from her for literally everything she's done. there wasn't enough character development and i really felt like i was watching a different show. in season one i was absolutely jj x so endgame because they were just so happy together but now i would've just preferred no endgame. i couldn't see her and sunoh happening again from the beginning but i really don't get why they put her back with hyeyoung? no chemistry no real love no nothing between them. it felt so forced. also dont throw in dystopian type elements (the ringing world, whatever dukgu and brian had going on?) if you're not going to pull through.
edit: just finished episode six and my opinion still stands.

wasted two years of waiting
THEY SHOULDNT HAVE MADE THIS. i know season was incomplete without their ending but this, this season, just ruined the whole damn show and I can never unsee it but i wish I could :c. THE ONLY REASON I FEEL INLOVE WITH THIS IS BECAUSE OF SUN OH AND JOJO’s CHEMISTRY, AND I GOT MY HOPES UP THAT EVERYTHING WILL EVENTUALLY BE BETTER. damn, i really thought things would be better, but nope, in to the trash this drama goes. this is ONLY MY opinion okay? i’ve waited two years for this and this is how it’s gonna be? damn should’ve waited for something else then. I regret watching, i’ll say that a hundred more times if I need to. i should’ve been contented with season 1 :[. Oh, if could just turn back time. I’d rated a 0 if it allowed be to. anyways, watch it, I dare you and be ready to hate a drama and be heartbroken.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
Fanfic Junk!
Oh dear! How could a full production team, crew and cast members be this damn oblivious to what they're making! The drama was the apotheosis of human failure, an insidious plague upon the landscape of television, a wretched abomination birthed from the depths of creative bankruptcy and soulless commercialism, a festering wound that infects the very essence of storytelling with its repulsive presence. Its premise was a nauseating blend of techno-narcissism and romantic idiocy, an affront to the intelligence of any sentient being unfortunate enough to bear witness to its abomination, a grotesque mutation of what once passed for entertainment. Characters were grotesque caricatures of humanity, mere vessels for the perpetuation of vapid romantic fantasies and insipid melodrama and their interactions were a cacophony of soulless platitudes and contrived emotional manipulation, each scene got progressively worse than the last. The writing was an insult to the very concept of coherent narrative structure, a labyrinth of a garbled mess and mind numbingly banal dialogue that defies comprehension. In fact, this drama wasn't just bad television, it was an abomination of the highest order, a blight upon the collective consciousness of humanity and the very fabric of reality itself that must be expunged from existence with extreme prejudice. Anyone who dares to defend this abhorrent monstrosity deserves nothing less than eternal damnation, condemned to spend eternity in the deepest, darkest depths of cinematic purgatory, tormented by the ceaseless repetition of its insipid drivel until the end of time itself. Anyway, it could've been worse, I guess.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Worst Kdrama to date
The story line had so much potential but it was ruined by selfish characters. JoJo was by far the worst. She continues to let SO suffer as if she was doing him some favor by not telling him why they couldn’t be together.
I realize they Heoyoung liked her first and Sonhu snatching his girl was wrong but for me it was easy to say that true love hit JJ & SO.
I mean no one ever got SO love alarm but JJ.
And had JJ cleared the issues with SO then HY would have never got JJ love alarm.
JoJo sucks!

BEST ENDING EVER, DON'T BE FOOLED BY THE BAD REVIEWS
I highly recommend you guys to WATCH TILL THE END!!!! The story is well written especially jojo's feeling and hyeyeong's sincerity. I don't know WHY peoples said they dissapointed for season two?? Maybe just because their couple didn't end up together haha. Jojo's back story and how she can accept herself. Sunoh gets someone who sincerely loves him and hyeyeong also deserves the love he deserves. I really appreciate it because it fits the story of the original webtoon and even this drama is more satisfying than I thought.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

THE TRUTH BEHIND THE DRAMA - EXPLAINED! PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ ;)
Hi guys!I see that many are disappointed that Kim Jojo did not end up with Sun Oh. I wanted her to see Hye young's real love for her and I also wanted her to think about what she felt. Who makes her heart flutter?
SO THIS IS THE EXPLAINING OF THE DRAMA:
1. In the first season, in the first episode Jojo and Sun Oh kissed. Why did they kiss when she already had a boyfriend?
--> Well she did not like her boyfriend she had then. Even when she had a boyfriend he didn't make it up to her. I think she still felt lonely and maybe sometimes invisible.
--> Sun Oh is a playboy. He had his eyes on Juju and kissed her, but before that Sun Oh complimented her. Juju fell for him and she starts to like him. She felt seen by him and he made her happy.
2. She breaks up with Sun Oh.
--> The real reason is accidant with her mom and dad. She survived and left her parents to die. We can also see it from another perspective. The other perspective is that even when her parents wanted to end their life and their daughter's life, she thankfully survived.
--> There are some other reasons as well, but those are mentioned in the second season of "Love Alarm". She did it because of Sun Oh's happiness, because of sincerely for Hye Young and because of her life (Her aunt and cousin complaining).
3. In the second season she ends up with Lee Hye Young.
--> She likes him and knows that without the love alarm ringing.
THE MESSAGE OF THE DRAMA:
* The drama shows us what technologic really can do. It can causes problems. I the "Love Alarm" world people do not even say "I love you". The word love and your feelings have been something connected to an app.
--> She was together with Sun Oh because they kissed. --> Her heart fluttered. BUT THAT DO NOT MEAN SHE LOVED HIM! Guys, think by yourselves. How many timed do your heart flutter when you see a handsome guy or pretty girl. Even people who are together looking are looking at people and maybe make their heart flutter? -->The love alarm rang on both's phone. --> they become a couple.
BUT in the second season, she likes (WITHOUT THE LOVE ALARM APP) Lee Hye Kyung. And he likes her. This is how it was before the love alarm app, how it is today in the world and how it should be. That is what Cheon Duk Goo (The developer of the app) is saying at the end of season two.
The last episode explained the truth of the drama. Please watch it and reason to what they say:
THIS IS ALL I HAVE IN MY MIND RIGHT NOW. I AM THANKFUL YOU TOOK YOUR TIME TO READ. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION LETS HAVE A CONVERSATION IN THE COMMENTS :)
P.S. I UNDERSTAND ALL OF SUN OH'S FANS, BUT HE GOT HIS LESSON OF HOW THE WORLD IS AND WHAT LOVE MEANS.

I. Loved the realistic end
S1 ends with heart break of suho and jojo which made us expecting the ways in which they both will get back together... But the story took an interesting turn ...it gives a pure message that love can't be decided by technology...He yeong waited for jojo's love without assure of mere app ....his love was pure and his longing paid off....we always cry for second lead to get what he deserved but when it happens we are ready to show our toxic selves and opposition to the shipmentConsiderați utilă această recenzie?
