Nuance and Cinematography

This is hands down the most nuanced and most fleshed out version of Hana Yori Dango (that I've watched), and for a drama that seems so chock full of cliches and out-of-the-blue plot developments and cliches, it felt like F4 Thailand was the most cohesive of them all too — I never once felt like things were underdeveloped or came out of nowhere. Side character arcs were all given their time and space.

I really love how modernized this is in terms of all the tropes; HYD is basically a hodgepodge of all the tropes but F4 Thailand managed to pull them off without making them seem tired and annoying. The bullying, insecurity, economic class, familial pressure themes were kept really consistent throughout the entire show even as different characters come in and out.

I do think the vibe of the show was pretty modernized as well — older versions of HYD added a really dramatic layer to some of the scenes and I was glad that everything just felt a little more realistic (as realistic as HYD could be, at least). Gorya was a really likable protagonist who used her brain a lot and didn't rush into things without thinking. Thyme's character development was done really well. The downside, and I don't know if this has to do with the fact that I know the story, but it's that I never felt as though the stakes were very high.

I have to admit that HYD was never my favorite drama so there are some arcs that I wish weren't included but of course they were, and there were other arcs like Kavin/Kaning that I wish had gotten more time to be developed.

I also think that for the most part, the actors did a great job — but you could definitely tell who was experienced and who was a rookie; I felt as though I could feel Bright and Win's emotions with my entire soul, but when other characters were crying or breaking down, it sort of just felt like acting.

Overall, definitely the best version of HYD out there; I think a bigger HYD fan might enjoy it but I admit it was never one of my favorite stories anyways. Even then, I felt like cinematography throughout the entire show was beautiful and I really liked that there were even mini tropes that were gently subverted in small scenes. The OST is beautiful and these are pieces of artistry that anyone can enjoy.

Things I Dislike about this series

Acting - Bright needs to step up his acting. He is being overshadowed by newbie actors. His facial expressions are the same regardless of what emotion he is trying to convey. Tu is fine but has the tendency to overdo things. Win has the most convincing acting in this group.

Story - Haven't finished the entire series yet but so far, the story is generally similar to the previous versions (and kind of tiring already because of the numerous adaptations)

Set - Compared to the Taiwanese and Korean versions, the set is less grandiose. I cannot feel how intimidatingly rich the boys are. Maybe it has something to do with the acting especially the male lead.

I watched boys over flowers and meteor garden maybe like 3 years before now i didnt really liked to watch f4 maybe coz of win and bright. I first watched their drama 2gether which is bl i cant bear to watch lovers turing into friends.when i started watching in pretty suprised coz i didnt mind their characters theh seemed to bendifferent ppl props to their acting. Legit!.Even tho I watched other versions i didnt feel this much suffocating coz of fls character maybe i was chilidish then . But now I really loved when she kicked thyme but after she met with mira to stop her going to france. I thought oh my! She is stopping her idol and crush from not getting parted. I thought so at first. When she started blabbefinb thag nonsense it got on my nerves like i cant see him lost his smile forever wtf gurl its like she is tellinb mira she loves him and she is sacrificing her love for mira totally gave me pick me vibes....Okay I didnt much give it a thought she is so desperate for her crush moving onto another episode damn!that typical toxic bad guy thyme literally showing how he loved gorya yeah ofc she aint dumb to not know thaf he is lovinb her i wont een support if he is ugly but he is handsome he is trying to win her over but she acted like she gave him some chancesnand getting his hopes high but when ren came she is like oh my! Ren im feeling bad for you and crying in his arms and going out with him on a so called food date leaving thyme aside...when that idiotic friend who leaked goryas photos and got her beaten by others.....gorya be like chill!we are friends right. Why tf all the dramas show this pathetic side of fls see now in real life imagine your photos are leaked when u r working as a bar girl and the whole school shunned you would you be able to forgive that friend??welll well i dont wanna get my bp higher anymore so im dropping this series well you can watch it if you want as many said its soooooo "worth watching"

Absolutely not

Let me be clear in saying I'm not the target audience for this drama. I haven't been in that age range for a good fifteen years. But I do enjoy the charming if cringy teen comedies from time to time. I'll also say this is my first real experience with this plot since I've never watched any of the versions of this story. And now I'm glad I hadn't.

This drama is just plain frustrating. Am I supposed to root for ANY of the F4 when they're obviously abusers, bullies and even condone rape attempts from the get go? Sweet Lord can someone please arrest these motherfuckers? Yes I'm including the sad boy artist here. I don't care how sad he looks when the rest of the school and his friends are assaulting this poor student on scene one, he still didn't stop it. It just bothered me so much that the one time he intervened during the red card treatment was when someone he was interested in was the victim. In fact all the F4s do that. They never genuinly feel bad about all the trauma and pain they have caused others, no they think with their junk.

I was rooting for all of them to die. That first episode is simply unforgivable in terms of character likeability. They are all just pricks that the show wants to manipulate you into liking by making them laugh and run around like children. Did you know the Nazi guards in charge of concentration camps have a bunch of pictures smiling and having a great time just next to the death camps? Same energy. As if I'm going to forget they were marching into that abandoned stadium smiling and feeling like kings about to brutally torture one of their subjects.

Yeah no. None of the MLs is redeemable after that.

FL... FL started out like conflicted, scared yet righteous interesting character. She had all the boxes to become something great. Unfortunately as soon as artist ML shows her his wallet we lost all of that and she becomes a love interest that screams at ML but smiles while being literally pushed around by him. Holy shitshow batman. This character makes absolutely no sense. This chick claims to be disgusted by ML's actions but still leads him on and goes on a date with him before he has even apologized? What? And she feels bad for leaving him out in the rain? Girl this man is directly responsible for people abusing you, you almost got raped... wtf run for the hills. I just- I am so frustrated. Whatever likeability this character had, has gone down the drain with her brain along with my patience and her common sense.

It's been five episodes and no one has apologized, but characters still act like they can be good friends after literal abuse and the victims are all smiles instead of creeped out. This pacing and writing is ridiculous and this drama is just wrong but wants to paint itself as charming. I have no idea how it got this rating but I wouldn't let anyone watch this problematic, toxic, shitshow.
I could have forgiven this if it were an older drama, but this is a remake and I had hoped they would have fixed dated issues but they just put on cute BG music and hope you don't notice. What an insult to its audience.

Nope. Just no. Absolutely not.

По-моему, оригинал как отдельное произведение уже потерял всякое подобие на актуальность, и попытка осовременить эту историю, несмотря на то, что она выглядела очень многообещающей, себя не оправдала. Красивая — местами даже очень — картинка и неплохой звук, в общем-то, помогают, но не спасают шоу, хотя смотреть, конечно приятно.

В общем-то, как по мне, основная проблема шоу — сценарий, и, возможно, попытка придать истории новизны и актуальности сделала и без того не слишком смотрибельный оригинал только хуже. Не думаю, что подобная история про богатеньких моральных уродов, которые, конечно, на самом деле никакие не моральные уроды, просто их мама не любила и няня с ними не играла, и любовь их спасёт, вообще в состоянии работать в нынешнем социальном контексте.

Арка Тама и попытка придать ему как персонажу подобие глубины, как мне кажется, провалилась с треском — к одиннадцатой серии он всё ещё не вызывает особенных эмоций, кроме лёгкого отвращения и раздражения, а его развитие толком и не происходит, сдвигаясь на шаг вперёд и тут же откатываясь назад по прихоти сценария. Арка развития Гори тоже кажется довольно плоской — по сути, всё, что с ней происходит — это бесконечный регресс и отказ от собственных принципов.

Актёрская работа хороша, но очевидным слабым местом выступает Брайт с тремя разными выражениями лица на выбор, уже не в первый рад теряющийся на фоне новичков без серьёзного актёрского опыта, с которыми он играет в паре (с Вином он тоже терялся, хотя и не в такой же степени). Игра Ту выглядит на три порядка лучше, хотя местами и она выходит плоской, как и игра актёров второго плана. В целом каст неплох, хотя выбор Брайта в качестве исполнителя главной роли вызывает вопросы — в GMM есть и другие молодые люди с симпатичными лицами, актёрская игра которых не кажется насколько же натужной и неестественной, но, полагаю, ставка была на его популярность.

Музыка - неплохая, слушабельная, лично я не в восторге, но я бы не назвал её плохой.

Definitely recommend watching

Even though there have only been two episodes out so far I wanted to give my review on this up until this point.

Honestly I started watching this without any high expectations, I was familiar with some of the other versions and just curious about what this one looks like and I was very positively surprised to see this. The first episode already got me hooked on the show and made me desperately waiting for the next episode to air.

I really like how they handled the storyline and the characters in this one. In other versions I sometimes felt like there was something a bit off even when I couldn't exactly make out what it was but for this one that wasn't the case at all. The way the story evolves as well as the reactions the characters show all seem to fit so well and gave me the feeling that the story and their emotions were a lot more genuine and serious and thus more real.

The characters also seem to be a little different to the other versions but in a positive way. I especially liked the way Ren's character is depicted here. Dew manages to give him the right amount of mysteriousness he needs without appearing too cold or making him feel too distant. The acting overall is definitely a point that makes me enjoy this show a lot more. Bright (the actor of thyme) also gives his character a lot more personality I think. Even when his actions are questionable at times he perfectly showcases his character and succeeds in evoking the right feelings in the viewer. You can sometimes even get an idea of why he reacted that way which kind of keeps it all together and makes a lot more sense to me.

Another thing I really liked about this is the pacing. There was neither a scene that felt unnecessary or boring nor did the story ever feel too rushed. The pacing just felt overall very fitting for the storyline.

I like how each version seems to have their own charm. It's nice to see how they all differ in some points and manage to show a whole different story that makes me enjoy watching this show so much even after I already saw some of the other versions of it.

All in all I can definitely recommend you watching this whether you've seen the other versions or not. I've really enjoyed the first episodes and I'm excited to see where this is going in the next ones.

Começando a minha listinha de doramas tailandeses com estilo e satisfação.

Apesar de ter gostado do drama, ainda recebi alguns tiros no pé que não tem como não falar. E como sempre, começarei por eles rsrs.

A primeira coisa que acho que senti mais falta no dorama, foi as cenas com os casais, tanto o principal como o secundário. Aqueles dois míseros selinhos não me satisfizeram nenhum pouco. Achei o bastidores do último muito melhor do que a cena original que eles colocaram. Também queria ter visto cenas da Kanim e do Kavin, mas né, não quiseram nos dar este privilégio.

Outras falhas grotescas, que de tão grotescas se tornaram hilárias, foram a atuação exagerada, cenas ilógicas e principalmente, a mono-reação do Thyme pra tudo. Sério, ele fazia a mesma careta toda vida que aparecia nas câmeras (e olha que 99,99% do drama ele tá aparecendo já que é o protagonista). E as atuações exageradas?? Estava eles conversando e do nada, começavam a gritar naquela língua que eu ainda não me acostumei rsrs. Eu fiquei me perguntando direto se era comum na Tailândia casos de bipolaridade...

E de cenas ilógicas temos a famosa cena da facada (spoilers alert!). O Thyme caindo que nem vara verde no chão e desmaiando só por causa de UMA FACADA no bucho?! E a faca nem era tão grande assim... Como assim produção... E pior, batendo a cabeça no chão, perdendo apenas a memória de quem?? Da Gorya, que conveniente não é mesmo? Acho que eles poderiam conectar esse acontecimento importante da história de uma forma melhor. Mas como eu disse, por ter se tornado hilário, nem me importei tanto quanto deveria com isso.

Enfim, fingindo que todos estes tiros não existem kkkkk o drama foi muito bom! Recomendo demais!

literal masterpiece

Usually, I don’t really watch any straight dramas, so I started watching this one with pretty low expectations, but literally after the first episode I couldn’t stop.
Already in the first episode happened so much. I was able to easily adapt to the storyline, but it wasn’t boring as I thought before. Normally when I watch any dramas, there are 8 episodes of plot, but they produced 12 episodes, so it gets quite boring, but F4 Thailand has 16 episodes of plot with tension tiill the end. The story is absolutely not predictable.
In my opinion the cast is chosen carefully and very fitting. Every actor and actress has portrayed their character very well and let in the needed emotions. I followed Bright and Win from 2gether to this drama and got not disappointed. After I started watching I was able to recognise some actors, who I was seen before like Fourth, Fort and Nani, while I was also able to discover some new incredible actors and actresses. I love how the supporting roles freshen up the situation and give some kind of relatability.
The Soundtrack is well produced and is ich in variety. It is well placed and doesn’t give disturbance to the storyline, acting or cinematography.
Overall I think it’s a way too underrated drama, but that might be because it’s already a few years old and I don’t really watch straight dramas. This drama has absolute rewatch value.

Essa versão vale a pena assistir

Essa foi a única versão que eu consegui terminar. Não que as anteriores fossem ruins, mas infelizmente tenho o hábito de dropar várias histórias por pura preguiça ou porque acho alguma outra história mais interessante. Antes mesmo de lançar essa versão, eu já sabia que iria ver até o fim por causa do Bright.

Sobre alguns personagens:
Eu gostei da personalidade da Gorya e eu super entendi a maioria das suas ações, vi algumas pessoas criticando ela porque aparentemente ela não tem a síndrome da salvadora de macho tóxico que é comum em histórias desse tipo, Thyme mudou porque quis, por causa do seu amor pela Gorya.
Gorya foi uma garota doce, amorosa com a família e amigos e valente em momentos tensos na história. Gorya seria o tipo de amiga que eu amaria ter.
Teve uma ação dela na qual eu não curtir muito, eu entendo que o fato do Thyme no passado ter tido ações violentas fizesse com que ela ficasse um pouco relutante em relação a ele, mas a amizade dela com o Talay e a confiança dela nele em alguns momentos me deixou irritada, em nenhum momento ela considerou acreditar que talvez o Thyme não tivesse batido no Talay, mas tudo bem Gorya, você continua sendo o meu amor <3
Obs: ela tem dedo podre pra amizade, misericórdia mulher.

O Thyme foi um personagem bem interessante pra mim, um garoto problemático que no fundo queria ser amado pela mãe. No primeiro episódio a raiva por ele foi inevitável, aqueles cenas de bullying foram de certa forma pesadas, mas nos episódios seguintes começamos a ver um Thyme de uma forma diferente, Thyme não era só um playboy violento e cruel como vimos no primeiro episódio, começamos a ver um rapaz escandaloso, um péssimo gosto pra moda e um idiota tendo a sua primeira experiência amorosa(de um jeito bem torto) mas no geral eu me divertir com as presepadas do Thyme e sua genuína mudança, MASSSSS....
na reta final esse IDIOTA acreditou na mentira da Gorya dizendo que tava com ele pelo dinheiro, THYME VOCÊ É BURRO???? inclusive vou criticar o fato dele ter mudado bastante no decorrer da história, mas depois dessa mentira da Gorya, ele regrediu um pouco por causa dessa decepção, acho a poderia ter sido diferente, mas depois ele percebeu que aquele Thyme antigo não poderia voltar mais.

Kavin e Kaning poderiam ter mais tempo de tela, eu entendo que a atriz era menor de idade e com isso cenas de beijos estavam fora de cogitação, mas ainda sim acredito que dava pra desenvolver um relacionamento bem bacana.
Amei o jeitinho fofo e tímido da Kaning, um esquilo haha
Kavin era um personagem galinha, mas era tão adorável na maior parte da história e principalmente nas cenas com a Kaning.

Mj não teve tanto destaque assim na história, mas ele era um tremendo de um gostoso em todas as cenas, e também um bom rapaz.

Eu gostei do Ren, em nenhum momento shippei ele com a Gorya. É um rapaz com muitas qualidades, infelizmente terminou sozinho, mas feliz pelos amigos.

Gostei da Lita mesmo depois dela querer continuar com o noivado com o Thyme de uma jeito um pouco errado, mas ela era boa e notou que isso a tornaria infeliz, achei fofo ela se despendindo da Gorya no aeroporto, deu a entender que elas continuavam sendo amigas <3

No geral a história foi boa, poderia ser menos complicada e poderiam tirar algumas cenas, assistir 1 episódio por semana pode ter sido terrível, mas deu pra digerir bem a história já que são tantas informações e alguns desentendimentos... Também gostei da crítica que fizeram em relação ao bullying, o que o Thyme disse no primeiro episódio foi bem esclarecedor em relação ao caráter nojento daqueles alunos, claro que o Thyme não fica fora disso, mas pelo menos ele percebeu o quão escroto ele era. A cena dele se ajoelhando e pedindo perdão a um aluno foi significativa, e tudo bem você não perdoar o Thyme e não gostar dele por causa disso, confesso que não amo ele 100% por causa disso (mesmo ele mudando pra melhor) acredito em mudanças, mas tem coisas que são dolorosas demais para perdoamos, nunca sofri bullying, mas entendo a dor das vítimas.
O final foi bom pra mim, até gostei da perda de memória, foi bem clichê kkkk
Aliás não consegui odiar totalmente a mãe do Thyme, a mulher era linda demais :v

No final das contas eu sou muito fã do Bright e talvez isso contribuiu para que eu gostasse do personagem dele.

Queria um extra deles dois, mas me contento com esse final.

Thyme and Gorya: Our Shooting Star Couple༘⋆

I think F4 Thailand is the best adaptation of other previous dramas. This drama is Tu Tontawan first debut but she can act sooo well!! There is no need to doubt the chemistry between Tontawan and Bright, who were initially enemies and became couple˚♡˚₊‧⁺˖

Gorya, a girl who lives in poverty, she has to be the breadwinner for her family but she's lucky because get a scholarship to attend an elite school with the conglomerates around her. Her character is very brave, has strong principles, and not afraid of anything. At school she had to face bullying every day after having problems with the F4 leader so her life could not be peaceful.

Thyme, as the leader of the F4 squad who have been friends since childhood. F4 members are Thyme, Kavin, MJ, and Ren. All have different characters but one thing in common, they all come from rich families. Thyme, who was raised by his strict, arrogant and always wanted to win mother, made his grow up to be someone who doesn't care about other people and likes to put other people down.

Starting from Gorya defended her friend, Hana who caused problems with Thyme then actually made Gorya become an enemy of F4 and all the students at her school. Every day she has to face Thyme's ridiculous actions to bully her. However, this didn't last long because Gorya managed to turn things around. Gorya's courage makes Thyme, who initially hates her, become curious and fall in love with her.

In fact, for Gorya and Thyme, who come from very different family levels, it makes really hard for them to be together. Thyme has difficulty adapting to Gorya life and vice versa. Also Thyme's mother doesn't agree with their relationship and tries to get rid of Gorya from Thyme's life. I really liked the character development in this drama. Thyme, who was very childish, became an adult to fight for her relationship with her girlfriend and Gorya, i swear I am so in love with this girl!!! She is always strong on her own feet, even though she falls in love with Thyme too, but she remains rational and mature, does not depend on other people for her life as always.

Apart from the dynamics between the main leads, I also like the dynamics between Gorya and Ren♥ I was hit by second lead syndrome because Ren is truly the definition of a walking green flag guy. Just like Tontawan, this is also Dew's debut drama, but they can show extraordinary chemistry here.

Kavin and Kaning they are also very cute!!! They don't get much screen time in this drama but it's enough to make the audience's hearts melt when they see their relationship. Playboy MJ also made his debut in this drama and was very successful in presenting his character.

Overall, I really like this drama. I can't count how many times I've rewatched this drama and it made me fall in love with Tontawan and Prim in real life, they're so beautiful!! I hope they can meet again in another drama─── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
