Unexpected...
O_O <--- my face while watching this. This movie, when you get past the bdsm/ torture aspect is so good... like it totally caught me off guard. The first half I was like ok, this is gonna be nothing but pure smut- and I was ok with that; nothing wrong with a little smut every now and then. But then we get past that and delve more into the characters and why things are happening and the whole bdsm aspect that had me shooketh at the start just becomes a nice layer that was needed for this story-telling.
The story of a hurt people helping each other is nothing new but the way it's told in this movie is. While watching I had no idea where the story was headed. Because of what this movie entails, had no no expectations for it but by the end I was completely shocked and wow-ed. It had me very emotional which was so unexpected.
The cast consists of two men who I have no previous exposure to but their performances/ delivery was great especially considering the subject matter they had to portray- A1.
I highly recommend this but seriously this movie is very graphic and for mature audiences only. It's rated 18+ for a reason so if you know you can't handle it then take a pass. If this is your kind of thing then by all means go for it, I don't think you'll regret it.

An unusual BL story with a lot of sexual themes but has a underlying theme of life itself
"Life" and "Sex" these two are the most important themes of this movie. So far out of all of the Japanese BL movies I have watched this has been the most extreme. I can't describe it but there's a lot of sex/BDSM set in a horror/slasher setting. I honestly thought someone was going to get murdered lol.
But even through there was a lot of sexual content there is still a underlying theme that is about life itself. Japan has a high suicide rate and it's important for this work to address that. To be able to live and love that's the underlying message.
Even though compared to the manga there's big changes in the 2nd half of the movie, it still manages to deliver the message of life to the movie and have some really hot sex scenes to boot!
The actors did an amazing job in their roles. For a 1st time role Watanabe Sho really gives his all in his scenes not only emotionally and physicaly. Kitadai is really good he played the seme role really well and also played his role
emotionally and physicaly well. Together the sexual chemistry they produced was pretty amazing to watch.
I want to praise director Jojyou Hideo as well, the set locations for this movie is great. It was a great idea to have the setting for most of the sexual scenes to be in the basement of a hospital it really added to the horror atomsphere.
The shots are beautiful if the location is in a basement or an graveyard.
I admit this movie is not for everyone, there's pretty much little consent in the sexual scenes (apart from the ending sex scene) and it's not very sexy (again apart from the ending sex scene). Also the BDSM sexual scenes might be too
extreme for general BL fans who want a more gentle sweeter kind of romance. Plus the themes of life, death and suicide is quite heavy and direct for some. But for those who are looking for a different kind of BL story that is dark, sexy and deep this movie might be for you!

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!
Ok so the smut factor was what really drew me in at first. You know when it's your time of the month and you just want to watch something yummy. Welp, I got what I asked for. It was indeed the most bold and erotic BL movie I've watched to date. I loved the explicit scenes. They were exactly what I wanted. Totally unapologetic and so effin raw. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time I was watching the movie. Please watch this alone and with earphones on people! My eyes were literally glued to my phone screen. But what I was totally NOT EXPECTING was the depth of this movie. I was prepared to write this off as one for my spank bank so boy was I surprised to have my mind blown towards the end of the movie after the dark BDSM period. When the tied up guy (can't even remember his dang name, I will hence refer to him as TUG) went after Yoda (his name I remember coz Star Wars LOL) at the beach when Yoda was about to end his life and then TUG grabbed him from behind and said "Give me your life" maaaaaaaaaan that hit me. The parallelism when Yoda said those exact words to him at the beginning when it was TUG who wanted to end his life -- maaaaaan!!! Chills!!! They literally saved each other!!!And then another smut action ensues this time more softcore. And at the end when both of them had been spent from all the sexing, and TUG asked Yoda "You're still alive?" -- just like what Yoda kept asking TUG when he was all tied up and sexed up in the basement. And then Yoda answers "I'm still alive". WHOOAAAA!!! It was Yoda telling TUG he wants to live again. And thus they have succeeded to give each other their will to live again. OMG!!! Now tell me this wasn't a masterpiece of an effin movie!!! I place this on top of my list. Although if anyone asks, I will deny. HAHAHAHAH just because people will think it's because of the smut. But really it was the smut AND THE PLOT people!!!! Is anybody with me???

This was just bizarre
I watched this again after reading some of the positive reviews, thinking there must be something I missed in this story. But I still found it quite bizarre, violent, and triggering. I understand how the kidnapper wanted to help the suicidal man feel again and value his life. But using sexual assault didn't seem to be the best way to achieve this end goal. Then to see their relationship shift to a romantic one was just not believable. Stockholm Syndrome. If you want to see repeated and graphic male on male sexual assault, then this is the film for you. I have no problem with male on male sexual intimacy but the sex scenes were not sex, they were rape and it was just too gratuitous. Why did I keep watching this? I really thought it would get better; that by the end it would actually make sense. But it did not.

Give it a Chance! (BUT BRING HEADPHONES)
I'll be honest, the current overall rating from my fellow viewers (7.5 stars as of today) made me want to run for the hills, but I'm glad I didn't. Once scanning through reviews, though almost every one I read talked about the sex and explicit nature of the movie, the main thing I noticed was their overall rating on the story itself. I saw 9's, 9.5's, 8's, and even a couple 10's- that's when I knew, despite the graphic scenes I was going to see, THE STORY WAS WORTH WATCHING.THE STORY follows a man whose parent's have recently passed away. As things in his life begin to crumble, he feels he has nothing left- so upon a drunken night he hastily decides to commit suicide. But before the act is done, a man saves him... and ends up holding him captive (wild, I know, but we'll get there.) While being held captive, and through unorthodox methods forced upon him by the savior, the man realizes he doesn't want to die. The savior soon lets him go upon realizing this, and the two end up having a detailed conversation about life and death itself. This is where we discover the savior has a few dark demons of his own. In the end, upon the savior feeling he has nothing left to offer the world, it is the man who saves him in return.
THE ACTING is absolutely PHENOMENAL! The commitment to the characters, their roles in each other's lives and the scenes themselves was spot on. This may be the reason why some people found most scenes too uncomfortable. Though the story might not be the most realistic, the acting was. I could feel the pain in their eyes, the embarrassment from some scenes and the hurt in others.
THE MUSIC was slightly above par. There were many times when an orchestra or violins began to play, which added to the mood of a scene.
REWATCH VALUE is definite. Once time has passed, and I'm in the mood to view something that makes me think yet still has aspects of a BL, this would be on my list. After all, in my opinion Japan just has a certain way with portraying love in its truest and rawest form.

Dark & Engaging...
I first heard about this film from a BL Instagram account and had to watch it due to its subversive nature. And boy! What a wild ride it was! The film was problematic as it did use sexual assault and rape as a 'commendable' way to teach a suicidal character to appreciate life. Not sure logically how this works, but okay... And it did reinforce the idea of Stockholm Syndrome, falling for your kidnapper. However, I must admit that the story was engaging and compelling. I was invested in the story and rooted for the characters to end up together. On a side note, it's always nice seeing subversive content coming from Japan, which is known to be polite and formal. It's interesting seeing a country produce content like Terrace House where everyone is respectful of one another and Sei no Gekiyaku who sexual assault abounds.

HOW in the seven hells did I end up here?
!!DISCLAIMER/WARNING¡¡This review is based on my personal opinion/experience while watching, you're free to agree/disagree with it.
If you are under the age of 17 or suffer from PTSD/Anxiety disorder, please refrain from watching it as it is very explicit and contains r@pe, some BDSM related scenes, heavy implications of Stockholm syndrome, mentions of death and attempted su¡cide. With that being said, my review is NOT meant to encourage/discourage you from watching in any way, shape or form, this is just my opinion/advice so you're definitely not obligated to agree with it or to take it to face value.
Holy hell, this was the longest disclaimer that I've ever written in my entire life, however, it is definitely not unnecessary or uncalled for. This movie is definitely NOT for the faint of heart and I honestly highly advice against watching it, mostly because of how hardcore and unsettling it is and how very uncomfortable I felt throughout the whole thing so, yeah I very obviously didn't like it, I'm gonna try to keep this brief because honestly, I don't even have the capacity to write a full on review like I usually do so yeah, this review is more of a rant rather than a review, and with that outta the way, let's proceed with this "rant".
>The plot was all over the place and the beginning of the movie were very iffy. I had to pause it not even 20 minutes in from how uncomfortable it made me feel.
>The acting wasn't great and it fell flat in some scenes. None of the actors stood out to me and the script just felt hollow. Ik some people liked this movie and ik that it has its audience, but god the script just felt very meh, like they tried to throw in too many different things at the same time it just ended up in a mess.
>the music was almost none existent and the bit of music thrown here and there felt very odd especially when it's paired with such visuals.
>the production was surprisingly good, the overall vibe and the lighting definitely stole the show here lol, I will say tho, the transitioning between scenes confused me a little but yeah, I really hope it was just me here.
And yeah, these are my two cents on this movie. I apologize for not being able to give more insight on this but I seriously don't have the energy to do so, you can read other people's opinions on this if you want more info on this matter. I hope you won't be traumatized after watching it too. Thank you to anyone who was able to stick around to read this unhelpful "review" and decided against throwing rocks to my head lol, really appreciate it.

DISCLAIMER: watch ALONE and with HEADPHONES
*outline*For the love of humanity please follow the title's instructions... from the very beginning it opens with a bang. Metaphorically and maybe even literally. It felt like a journey of pure psychopathy. I'm literally still questioning what the whole thing was even about...
*analysis*
STORY : I never wanna watch that again. I don't even know why I did, but I did and I acknowledge my sin. The whole plot was just totally out of it and I really wonder what the movie makers were thinking during filming and deciding to publish it. I would've given a higher rating if the story actually made sense but it didn't... at all. The only reason I give it that rating was that the story was unique and had a backstory.
ACTING/CAST : I don't know whether all the sex and stuff was fake but it really looked in-genuine. And the fact Ryoji's character was how he was? That was disturbing enough to give anyone nightmares.
MUSIC : I swear there was only one theme anyways? I mean, yeah, it suited the whole story but it was just one piece of music so I can't give it a higher rating than that anyways. It just set the mood, I guess.
REWATCH VALUE : No way. Nuh uh. I'm not gonna do that to myself. My poor eyes.
*recommendations*
Unless you're into some hardcore stuff like BDSM, pain kink, etc, DON'T watch this. It's not for just anyone to watch and I'm not criticizing anyone's ability to watch this stuff but like- I'm not gonna try explain myself.
I have no recommendations for you if you liked this... I've never watched anything like this so please bear with me...
Thank you-

Speechless
First of all, don't watch it if you're sensible or can't or if you can't stand erotic things. Not your typical BL. It's something deeper ...Advice: WATCH IT ALONE WITH HEADPHONES.
So...
I actually enjoyed it. I had to re-watch it multiple times to understand everything that was going on. (I couldn't concentrate the first time?)
That Makoto just wanted to kill himself, and luckily Ryoji saw him and saved him.
Everything that he did was to mostly help him.
In the end Ryoji wanted to end his life, but Makoto arrived then.
Yeah, it may be Stockholm syndrome, but I think he really liked him for who he really was after learning about his actions towards him.
The cast, in my opinion, was wonderful. They are hot, of course, but to make such a movie, it may be really challenging. So I really appreciate them for their amazing acting and everything. ?
Yes. I'll surely re-watch it.

Watch alone. Watch conscious.
*A little bit of spoiler alert*I just finished watching the movie and I won't say it is a "happy ending" because somehow it is not. It is a "twisted ending".
If people definition of happy ending is they ended up together than yeah, I give it to you, it is a happy ending, but is it?
He (Yoda Ryoji) saved him (Katsuragi Makoto) from the will and craze for killing himself, yes.
But did Makoto make Ryoji forget his past lover, not really, that is what the last scene is about, he said he is Alive. How many times will Makoto have to remind Ryoji that he is not his past lover, how many times will the trauma come back to him? Saving a person does not mean they are living, they are just alive.
(A simple example of that is when you are having a horrible day and someone, anyone comes to you and asks how you are, most of the time we don't answer that we are fine, we say we are alive or surviving.)
So they ended up alive and together but not necessarily happy.
Physical pleasure is not everything, they have a life to live, Ryoji has a hospital to go back to and Makoto has a job that he lost, he has to continue living somehow. How many things will they have to mend besides their souls?
But what makes it really twisted is that they will either have to die together or they are going to end up taking their own lives after the other dies.
They bound themselves so deeply that it is either alive together or dead together. It is twisted because they are literally bound to each other's heart.
The movie is great, I was hooked and deeply in. It is a great story/plot.
I enjoyed it and the actors, omg, they deserve an award for that.
If you have triggers tho, do not watch it.

WOOOOW I HAD NO HEADPHONES BUT U NEED THEM (FOR FULL EXPERIENCE)
So very graphic but I loved it overall.People will call me a psycho but it's one of the best BL's for me. It gives you raw reality, not the sugar-coated mess you get in any other drama or BL. You feel the emotion so this is not for the faint of heart or people that's easily triggered don't watch it because it is very deep and has a solid storyline and deserves tens all across the board it needs appreciation for every aspect. This is deff a rewatch for me when I need a waking for life or just for fun honestly.
P.S
I don't get why people don't read tags on the movie and read the overview AT ALL. It literally tells u the biz so don't get on here and bash it honestly. PLEASE READ BECAUSE IT IS FUNDAMENTAL FOR YOUR EYEBALLS AND MIND IF YOU DON'T HAVE THICK SKIN.

Wow!
This movie was very different from what I usually watch, and it definitely had me wondering at times whether or not i should keep watching, but if i'm being frank i'm glad I did. I loved the plot and the acting was truly amazing. I would definitely recommend this movie. But keep in mind that this movie does have some pretty hard core scenes, so if that's not the kind of thing you can handle then you shouldn't watch.I was also wondering if anyone could recommend and similar movies/shows.
