I am rating this series 6 only because of Zon and saifah.....this series had been or than 6/10 if you gave Zon and Saifha have more romantic seen only last seen they got love nothing more happened. If they have more seen like the other two characters than This series have good subject ?.....
And actually as I and may other people over there is international viwers so for us your given Subtitles plays vital role but You Subtitles ruined most of the interesting seen.....its ok if you give subtitles after 1-2 days after eps release but at least give best Subtitles for us so we can actual get what seen want to give us...

Originally, I'd give 6 stars. Then, I could give even 10, but....

Watching first episodes, I was like: To be perfectly honest, maybe I WOULD like the BL fascination to quiet down a bit in Thailand, lol. Opening yet another BL series, I did appreciate this one incomporated the today's tendencies (and BL fangirls pushing gay-romance culture) straight into the story, and in a fun way. There ARE new kinds of pressure on goodlooking boys today, and it's more natural for the show to address it directly than to pretend they live in special universe where everyone is automatically gay... First, I identified with Zon as the main character. He is scared that he started living in some "gay land". I found that funny and also I could relate. It began to be rare to find a straight guy in today's "idol dramas". Thailand already had queer even in straight dramas and those are here, too. In total count, everyone either looks gay, acts gay or IS gay. While some can be 2 or 3 of these things, it seems nobody is 0. The engineer school uniform became like gay uniform...

It's funny how Zon enounters the main duo from 'TharnType', and believes he really traveled inside BL fiction. I felt for him and hoped he would be able to find 1 ordinary straight person on the whole campus lol. But then he thinks he got saved as soon as he sees the character portrayed by Saint Suppapong, which is ironic because that "actor" looks so much like a girl that it's scary.

Which brings me to the Saint & Zee couple. After 'Love By Chance', I was convinced that "Saint" Suppapong can't act even at gunpoint. He SIGNIFICANTLY improved, here (well, he couldn't possibly get any worse). The dynamics works, Zee's character is the right amount of predatory, while Saint's character makes perfect prey, who answers with just the right amount of spunk back. So completely different from Saint's character in 'Love By Chance'.

With Zon & Saifah, you realize the cast in this series is a bit problematic. Some "boys" are 28, some barely 20 and look like underaged baby in compare to their "peers", let alone to be believable as their seniors. Zon looks ridiculous paired with Saifah, who looks 10 years younger and 10 times more feminine than Zon, but it's all supposed to be saved by him being taller. Most scenes the baby-boy looked like he needed to return the senior jacket to whomever he stole it from. Probably to Zon, who keeps wearing freshmen shirt despite looking older.

At first, Zon & Saifah's interactions are funny, thanks to Zon's perceptions and fears that make it funny. Any stale lame scene is made funny by Zon commenting on it in his head. But that doesn't last long and soon we watch montage of the two along with sweet music? The funny inner commentary is gone and sweet scenes keep piling on... I felt treated the same way Zon was treated. The BL was just forced on us audience. It did not happen organically. By the way, I felt like that watching most BL shows...

This respect, Saint & Zee couple line definitely works better. The tension in between the two is undeniable. Sadly, the plot uses a third party, which is a girl "dating" Zee's character, who chooses Saint's character of all people to confide about her relationship problems. And he gives her like girl magazine advice, instead of saying: "Well, I think the problem might be he is into guys. He already kissed me twice." This he doesn't tell her AND he doesn't stop giving her "advice". It feels ancient old way to keep the triangle going. This was obviously inherited from straight dramas, where two girls always tend to be "friends", while nang'ek believes in the friendship sincerely, nang'rai abuses it to get the guy and to get into her rival's head. So, Saint's character in this plays one of the girls? Episodes where Janis Janistar's character is omitted are better. Also, when showed as cartoons, all scenes look better:)

But when the two boys are left alone, it's as steamy as it gets. First, its's clear and clearer that Zee's character is CRAZY about Saint's. He kisses him a couple more times, saying he's "just teasing him", but then Saint's character's here is NOTHING like in 'Love By Chance'. Wow. Now I wonder, is this show going make fun of BL, or become a strong piece of it itself?

Back to Saifah & Zon... The two are cute together, still I'd prefer them to be just friends. They're more enjoyable just making fun of it. I don't really like them as a serious couple. Started more or less skipping their scenes, I just don't get those two. Then, Saint & Zee couple progressed from supressed angst to both-side confession during one single episode. Huh? Peaked too soon, just like 99% BL.

All this was just 1/2 of the series. What now?
Saifah & Zon kissed. I cringed. I just don't get what happened to Zon. No matter how "nice" has Saifah been to Zon, it's so weird Zon would jump into being physically involved with him just for that. It felt all constructed and I lost my overall interest. Instead of focusing on Zon as the main character, I quit watching his line entirely.

Opening episode 9... With me watching a bundle of other shows in the meantime, I mistakenly thought it was the last episode. The main couple is together already, they go happily to the beach... Then I noticed this was not the last episode. And I was like: You know what? For me it can be. I have like no reason to keep watching this... Them just being happy at the beach and getting all mushy was almost unsufferable to watch. Wouln't it be great just to end it now? It's not like I care whether they have a huge fight later, break-up, or reconcile at the end. The second couple, we don't see them this episode, and we don't miss them.

So, I dropped the series after epi 9, rated it 6 stars. Then more or less accidentally kept on watching. I totally skipped the other couple and I still didn't like Saint, but Zee was giving me something to watch. Apart from him being hot and the only one of the cast actually having manly body (and therefore they made him wear his shirt constantly open... while everyone else just has a t-shirt:) it's was him solely who raised my Overall rating, he really made me care about his character in the end, meaning the 12th epi, where we can watch him completely break down and confess all his feelings. It's a great scene, very authentic. Zee's voice breaks, picture frame falls... Be it accidental or not, the scene was a treat. Including the poignantly inserted flashbacks. Else I wouldn't give the Overall rating 2 additional stars. Because as soon as Zee leaves the scene, and it's just Saint sitting there on the bed awkwardly clenching his little fists, it's not working anymore.

Thanks to Zee, this could easily be a 10 stars show. But for that, he would have to not share his scenes with someone like Willie McIntosh, or Saint Suppapong. I really wish to see more of Zee, comedy or drama, gay or straight.

Uhm...what is going on?

I was quite excited when I started this series because I heard there was going to be a Korean remake and I wanted to know what all the hype was about plus I loved Zee in Cutie pie!
Then came the storyline which was all over the place but I could forgive that because I thought the acting of the main couple was superb! But alas, if a story is so bad not even a good cast can save that...
The storyline is supposed to be a parody of your typical BL but instead it is yet another bland cliché. Even the serious topics it tries to discuss are overdone and unoriginal takes. As for the story, you know it and *I* usually love it! But this time? No.
Boy has a rival, and the rival pretends to be a rival but actually secretly has a crush on him and they get forced proximity and slowly start to fall for each other whilst everybody and their mom ships them together. And this happens twice. Talk about original!
On top of that it was not clear to me at first who the actual main couple was (surprise, it is not Zon and Saifah who we meet in the first few episodes, no it's TutorFight who are supposed to be the main couple). And this did not get better as towards the end of the series, THREE other side couples appear who I honestly could not care about less...
The characters do not have any consistent development and the pacing of the series is also wayyy off towards the point that I have no clue how long they've been together at the end.
...on top of that, episode 13 starts off with Fight sexually assaulting Tutor???????? I don't care that Tutor was obviously still in love with Fight and only broke up with him because of Fight's father what the actual f*ck! AND NO ONE'S TALKING ABOUT THIS ?????????? HELLO??? I THOUGHT WE AS A SOCIETY MOVED ON FROM ROMANTICIZING SEXUAL ASSAULT AND BORDERLINE RAPE. I'm very disappointed in this series and sad for the cast who deserved a better story.

Thai low comedy taken to the extreme

In Italy we have the so called "cinepanettoni", films that usually come out during Christmas time based on low comedy and sexual innuendos. You need to like this genre to enjoy them or to be in the right mood. This series is like a loooooong cinepanettone taken to the extreme. At times I almost wanted to scream for how silly some scenes were. Only the story between Tutor and Fighter kept me going on and a few scenes between Zon and Saifah that were less cringy than the most of the series.
Whatching a thai drama for me is always challenging because I never know if I'm going to stand their low comedy or not and in this case I barely could.
I gave an overall 6 just for Tutor and Fighter and for the wonderful songs.

The Gray Zone

I have mixed feelings for this one, so bear with me. This is coming from an objective critical stance.

To begin with, the actors and the chemistry between their characters were perfect. Their appearances, moments, height difference, personalities, etc. - spot on. However, what appeared weird at times was the dialogue, the replies, or awkward silences that followed after certain expressions that would require some kind of addition to showing us the other character acknowledged what was being said to them. The sudden topic-changer killed the dynamic of the moment at certain times.
Furthermore, what also made me click through certain parts was the lack of plot beyond their romantic relationships. We got a couple of episodes full of lovey-dovey things, established relationship progress with an abundance of explitic-ish? content but nothing kept happening beside it, except teasing, making out, the classic tension-builder, etc.

Also, the passive-aggressive evil dad had already become an overused trope, and it was kind of a downer to see it happening in this show too.
What's more, the relationships and falling-for-you moments were rushed and nonsensical, feeling like there was an obvious lack in gradual transition that made me feel like: 'Woah? Where did this come from?'
The speed of accepting their 'enemy' as a love interest was very questionable and not really propped by enough scenes to show us how did the character get to that mindset where they have accepted the possibility of seeing themselves as something more with their 'enemies'.
I also feel like an important emphasis was put on Zon and his fiction writing career, so I wonder why and when did that fly out of the window? What was the point of including that at all? Also, the way he made faces in the first couple of episodes at certain times made me feel second-hand embarrassment for him.

What I absolutely loved were the characters of Zon's and Tutor's sisters - absolute angels! Especially the scenes with Tutor's sisters, they were truly precious to me and made me tear up. Her character was very well done, her acting on point as well. Tutor's financial struggle, separation from his family, breaking down under pressure, trying to make the ends meet, and being exhausted - perfectly displayed, and very relatable! He is one of the characters I feel was the closest to the audience and our understanding, as well as our daily issues.

Also, I feel like the story could've been better for the characters who had the potential to participate in a more complex plot. The characters deserved to exist beyond their relationships and their romantic interests, and I believe we deserved to see them more human, independent, doing their own thing, and romance as something just intertwining with their lives. The lack of story beyond the romance/relationship was kind of a mood killer for me because I love multidimensional characters, but the comic scenes made me laugh, the first proper kisses gave me butterflies, and the chemistry between those charming actors kept me engaged.

I would definitely watch it again till the 7th or 8th episode. Not bad, but there was definitely space to improve the quality of the plot or cut down the number of episodes.

Eh.... was it a waste of time???

Is it fair to say I "completed" this series even though having skipped 60% of the show? Can I really write a review for a show I was confused on 80% of the times?

I was super confused throughout this whole show, but I kept watching for FighTor. Therefore, I won't be talking about the rest of the couples as there were too many for me to keep my interests.

The relationship between Fighter and Tutor is quite strange. I liked how it started, with the enemies trope then Fighter having a girlfriend?? but apparently Hwa was not a girlfriend so IDK what they were. However, somewhere along the way, their relationship got messy and I got confused. Throughout this whole time, we barely get to see any indication that Tutor might like Fighter. But the show kept throwing us cute scenes of them together which led me to think "WHY R U guys acting like a couple" but somehow, they ended up confessing AFTER denying it for the billionth time. The sex scenes were great tho... but I wish they talked things out more, especially towards the end. They solved a conflict which lasted 2 episodes long with like a 30 second clip which felt lackluster... The change in their relationship was just too sudden.

Their story might have been great if it weren't for the horrible editing and pacing of the show plus the lack of plot.

Story: gave it a 4, but there's not much going on tbh. Fighter likes teasing Tutor but Tutor doesn't take it for no reason. I love their Dynamic at the beginning. Especially when Tutor teases back. But then they admitted their feelings for each other and went to a romantic place to prove their feelings. when they got back Fighter's dad found out and tried to separate them. that lasted 2 eps long but solved within 30 seconds....

Acting: was good, not much to say about it tbh. Maybe its because my lack of interests that affected how I view the show. I didn't cry nor did i get overly emotional aside from mad and frustration (at Fighter for denying his feeling and at his dad for doing dumb stuff) Nothing special.

Music: couldn't care less. Only listen to the ost when they insert it in the cute scenes. Otherwise there will be parts with weird audio.

re-watch: only if you really like them, otherwise no.

EDIT: my thoughts and rating after re-watching

Story:
having rewatched the series, only the FighTor parts, I was less confused this time around and understood the story better. Having said that, the subbing for this series was quite confusing at times (I still appreciate the subs) and the pacing/editing of the show was not any better. It's a really fast paced story and some scenes are cut and is up for the viewer to catch the cue and infer. However, I still don't find that initial spark where Tutor fell for Fighter, we get that fighter fell for tutor at first sight but the feeling we get from tutor is ... why does this senior love to tease me?? what I'm missing is how that later on translates into liking fighter.... but if we ignore that and pretend they liked each other then it's all good. It's about two boys coming to terms with their feelings and accepting one another. They tease each other for attention but finally crossed the line. That lead them to question their feelings for one another and going on a trip to confirm it.

Acting:
Really good acting from both of them. At first, I was too confused to feel anything but after re-watching, I felt the emotional scenes when Tutor was distancing himself from Fighter. Really good scene from Zee on ep 12.
And Saint's seductive gaze on ep 9, that whole scene was HOT.

Music:
Didn't really notice it much but it did enhance the emotional moments.

Re-watch:
well.... I did re-watch it because I felt like I didn't fully understand it my first time so if you felt the same, maybe it's worth a rewatch.

original rating: 4.5
Now: 6

good? bad? who knows

it....wasn't great. not much happens. they weren't great actors, not the worst. my biggest issue with the show is though both couples are likeable, i ended up preferring saifahzon and i think that is absolutely solely because our main couple had way. too. many. kiss (or "sex"). scenes. this was before sz got together so it isn't about that. i was actually thinking of quitting the show regardless.

i think when they had finally had sex the first time the rest of the ep was them just making out in places and it was just bonkers to me. i literally wanted it to end. if i wanted to watch softcore porn i would. but i don't want to? it's not even that it was steamy or salacious; it was for a BL i guess but. it just was not good for the structure and plot like idk it was overkill and you could see it. like what even is this writing? it's too gimmick-y. i don't even have anything to say abt the production bc my number one thought when it comes to this show is: did they really need to show us all that?

anyways tho it was like cute...

Before I even started to get into whatever Why R U was, I had seen one show to start with, that was together with me. I was into it when it was airing, and I came across it on YouTube. I loved the main pair and I loved their chemistry. It was a great show to have started with incomes to my first BL. I was then given a list by one of my friends maybe 2 months ago, maybe less about BL shows that I should watch because we just finished the untamed witch was also amazing. Some shows she had watched, some shows she was planning to watch, so I got started on her list. So, before I even got into Why R U and was exposed to what it was, I had watched Tharn type, Theory of love, and together with me. Then I started watching Why R U. From the jump this show was different for me, there was just something about Saint and Zee that stood out for me from the beginning, I started watching the show when they were up to episode 5, so I got into a bit late, but it consumed me. Everything about Saint and Zee/TTFT character was everything to me up to episode 5. As I again as watching this show on YouTube, I needed all the information I could get when it comes to whom these actors were and what this show was all about. So, I jumped into BL twitter for the first time for Why R U and made sure I was up to date on everything. I watched every Friday on one 31 and then the rerun online TV. Maybe I am the only one who feels like this when it comes to why are you, but the show is perfect for me. I mean as I said, I watched multiple other bls Before, super popular ones, and nothing has ever hit me as hard as this show. For me, every episode was amazing. That is all because of fighter and Tutor and Saint and Zee's portrayal of them. Their chemistry in the show was undeniable in these characters. It completely made the show for me. For some reason, the other main leads did nothing for me. I tried to watch their story, I tried to get into them, I was unbiased. I had no exposure to anyone in this show but from the jump until now their story was not it for me at all. I get that they were cute, but compared to the story we got with FTTT, I did not care for them. I never really got how they got from point A to point B so fast and their relationship developed into something more so much quicker than TTFT. The kissing scenes were amazing for TTFT, and so where the love scenes. People saying there were too many have no idea what a healthy regular LGBT couple in their honeymoon phase looks like. People kiss a lot, people have sex a lot, that is normal. They are showing you what is normal. Nothing about their love scenes were porn, they were tame IMO. It is leveling on homophobic the criticism that TTFT love scenes and kiss scenes get compared to SZ because SZ was cute and tame in comparison. That is not real-life friends. I also want to give a huge Praise to Zee because he's acting in episodes 11 and 12 truly made me cry harder than I ever had for a show. Same with Saint, I have never been that heavily affected by a breakup of the scene in my life. I think this show would have been perfect IMO if they scrapped all the side characters except Hwahwa and Day and Zol and made SZ relationship into one of the side characters as well. I never really care about inside characters in these shows, none of the BLS I have watched have I ever been into the side characters, so Why R U does not change that for me. It was an amazing show and would have been a 10 across the board if it were not for SZ and the side characters that for me, felt extra and unnecessary.

So I've watched all 10eps of Why R U and because I really enjoyed it ive had to repeat each episode at least twice. I personally am really loving this show. The love story of 2 couples Tutor X Fighter and Zon x Saif is fun watching how their relationship develop from enemies to friends to lover Zon x Saif are the cutest as their relationship is on the comedy side were as Tor as P fighter calls him is more on the roller coaster side. unfortunately because of the pandemic this show does suffer some with the bad editing which is very noticeable however you have to bear in mind its due to COVID-19 and filming was put on holt so some scene were not completed and had to improvise.
Overall this so is very much enjoyable and could have been a bigger hit. ENJOY

There were lot of snorting & eye rolling on my part, but overall the drama was entertaining. If bunch of fujoshi got together and decided to make drama in a rush, this will be it.

It's a collection of fujoshi-dream-come-true cliche moments with choppy story-line; too many characters acting & ranting silly, added with many many potential couples with no closure. In the end they all fade into the background.
Best part: Saint has done a remarkable job playing his character with enthusiasm & passion while leading Zee into the new world of BL drama, lol.

True that the drama wrapped up in a rush due to the virus, but lucky for some fans that rest of the story became FighterTutor focused make out-fest. The couple also end up stealing most of the spotlight away from the main couple Saifah/Zon, but I didn't mind it, lol. While the drama was a little chaotic with many many cheesy-tacky-ridiculous-cliche moments and grades school level script (but all that still funny in silly way), there's romance & passion that leaves you content in character development. In the end, I chose to remember the goods and forget the bad (fastforward button).

A Mess with good intimate scenes

The writing on this show was a hot mess.

And my biggest sticking point: Why was Zol writing BL fanfic about her own freaking brother and like not even doing it under the radar, like publishing it under her own name for the whole school to read? Well that and all the plot threads the show left dangling. Why did the show never loop back to the fact that Zon wanted to be a writer and give him his writer moment? And like did Zon's grades ever get better? Or were the parents just gonna be like, you can't have a writing hobby if you have bad grades, but a having a boyfriend hobby and bad grades is totally cool with us. Why did Tutors debt plot just fizzle into nothing? And why did they never explain what happened to his family to cause this crushing debt in the first place?

Why do none of the character's motivations make sense? Like Fighter's father established a*hole, has his I won't allow this relationship, but then pretty much immediately having a change of heart. Why can Fighter and Tutor never use their words so they don't have to be as dramatic as possible? Why does Tutor have such a close friendship with Hwahwa as they never establish her redeeming qualities?

What was the point of including the 3rd and 4th tier boy parings? Should have just spend more time with the two main couples.

So many questions.

But I didn't rate it even lower, because Fighter and Tutor do have great bed scenes and I enjoy the enemies to lovers troupe.

There's lots of room for improvement.

I would like to believe that this drama was supposed to have a few more episodes of content, but due to the Covid situation, a lot had to be cut off for the sake of not putting the actors and staff in danger. That being said, I'm going to give the drama the benefit of the doubt and talk about it for what it is.

I'm also adding my review on Saifah/Zon's special episodes here for the sake of having everything in one place.

~ The story.
It was decent, for the most part. To be honest with you, there wasn't anything that I could consider new, so I am not amazed by it, but it wasn't bad either. We need to start branching out of the usual "enemies turned to lovers" trope because it's getting way too tired, and the fact that 4 of the 6 couples were going through that route was way too much for one drama. The creativity was dragging on the floor with this one. You could also tell how it exponentially grew more and more detached from all the other characters and solely focused on Fighter and Tutor, and I would normally be mad at it if it wasn't because I really liked them as a couple.

The highlight of the series to me was Fighter's argument with his dad at the end. It combined usual elements of BL scripts with a touch of reality to it. Nothing but praise to that.

~ The editing and pacing.
Dude this was a M E S S. It wasn't even like they tried to gradually make it a mess, but you could totally see when the editors just blindly began joining scenes together. Now, I get it, it was miss Corona's fault, but man. At this point I wouldn't have minded if they took a break and waited until things were a little better in Thailand for them to start recording again. A lot of stuff seemed to be removed leaving a lot of unanswered questions and confusion.

The editing was very amateur and the camera work could have been done better. Honestly, I have seen short YouTube videos with way less budget and better production than this drama. Just saying. If you're gonna do something, do it right mama.

~ The acting.
First of all: CAN WE PLEASE STOP NORMALIZING THE THARNTYPE COUPLE?! The most unhealthy relationship we have had so far, and these people are still tryna have the audacity to romanticize it. I won't condone it!

~ Fighter/Tutor: Let's talk about a couple that actually matters now. Great chemistry, sis. I am glad that Saint got this role because his character in Love by Chance was so unrealistically bad that he deserved a more realistic character that lives up to his acting skills. Now, if you allow me to be picky, it did feel like he changed characters after they admitted their feelings. I prefer the Tutor before confessing, but the after isn't too bad.

When it comes to Zee, I enjoyed his performance from start to finish. This is the kind of heterosexual actor I'll support, with such confidence in who he is as a man to the point that his acting was pretty much flawless. Very expressive eyes and super adorable crying. He gets a ten from me.

~Saifah/Zon: They got the short end of the stick as the second main couple. I am not a big fan of Tommy's acting because it looks very staged, but everything changes once you place him besides Jimmy. Their chemistry together got progressively better throughout the episodes, and their special is what sold them to me. They were THE couple to look forward to. In all honestly, we need a season 2 so they can all get the drama they deserve.

~Natee: Yes, yes, YES! The best support character in the series. Naturally hilarious and approachable. That MOMENT scene with the other guy was so genuinely funny that it is a shame they were pretty much cut off from the rest of the season.

~Hwahwa: You guys, I feel bad for her because they wrote her as such an easy girl. It was so funny, though. Not even three minutes out of a relationship when she was already in another one.

~Fighter's dad: Honorable mention because he IS daddy.

Girl, this show has everything: comedy, tragedy, character development, gud dix, male titties, MOMENT, daddy issues (those are mine), questionable fashion, and too many beach episodes. I had a good time, so I recommend it.
