Boys Over Flowers (2009)

I had high expectations for this drama, since it's a very popular and well known.
This drama completely failed to interest me.

The story line itself isn't something unique; rich boy fall for poor girl.
At first I found it very interesting and loved JanDi's personality but It changed too quickly after a few episodes.Meaning that her personality did a complete flip, yes i understand this is a romance drama and usually their personality softens but for the story to seem more realistic i felt that a part of her old self should've been seen.
The only reason i managed to finish it was for the side characters.
The Side characters' personalities were stable and acting were superb and felt myself rooting for the them opposed to the main couple.
The main character couple just got repetitive and made me lose interest quickly.Honestly I felt it was due to the duration of the drama.


The acting was superb..I've seen dramas with Lee minho and Goo Hye since they're very popular, but this drama, in my opinion didn't make me fall in love with them like their other dramas did.I'm not sure if it was due to their character or not.I will admit their acting seemed very natural and since I've seen them in other present dramas I can definitely say they grew as actors with the experience.

Music was entertaining I enjoyed the majority of the songs.
Mainly the ones from SS501 and SHINee.
Felt everything matched very well the climax of the story till the ending.

The F4 aka the popular rich guys are everyone's dream boy, they're the perfect representation for the ideal men.Which is why till this day most shows in korea used them as a reference when describing a group of good looking men.This drama is constantly looked back which is why it's famously known.

I will not be re watching this I know that for sure.
Unless you really enjoy a over dramatic love stories then I don't recommend this drama.
All actors and actresses portrayed their characters well but the overly storying line and duration made the overly experience fairly poor.

goofy but you have to keep in mind which era it is from :)

I'm having a lot of fun watching this chaos lol. i get the hype everyone gives it lol. but i wouldn't hype it up as much.
i think a lot of these reviews had an issue with the show because of its messy storyline and i respect their opinion. but i think we also should keep in mind that it's a 2009 high school rom-com and it fits well for that period tbvh.
but what I did have a problem with was the acting especially Koo HyeSun she overdid her character's tackiness quite a few times, the best she did was crying but the rest didn't really feel natural at all.
i really liked jandi and jihoon "a friend in need is a friend indeed" dynamic so far. and well jandi and junpyo breaking off for the smallest reasons possible makes me lol cuz yes that's how high schoolers date lmao. but the second couple, Yijung and Gaeul, really got me rooting for them.
the president (i don't like calling her his mother she's not worth it) reminds me of all the itv vamps from the '00s and '10s.
i was first skeptical abt watching it seeing it's length (25 eps) but I'm 13 eps in and it's not that bad. lol the first few episodes i had to skip a LOT of scenes and i still skip a few cuz they're cringe.
I'd rewatch it few months after I've completed it but not as a whole but maybe a few episodes here and there.

Okay so i think every saw this drama but let me write my own opinion on it!^_^

Story------The story is very special and unique and i love how korean's portait it so well!The story is very innocent and that's why i loved it so much!The kinka's if you can call them were very cute and only not innocent character's were two guys i think you know who it was.

Couples-----I ABSOLUTELY love every 3 couples that were there..So cute and aarghhhh they were all funny but at same time serious.It would be amazing if there was some sequel to their marriage life because this..this needs it!

Acting----I think this is Lee Min Ho's best role!Also he had amazing chemistry with the main girl that i forgot name of-.-...Anyway all actors did fantastic job and i clap them!Even my mom started to watch it so she became addicted too so this states how amazing it can be in every age category!

Music----I think this was off....i liked only two songs and that were Because i' m stupid and Fight the bad feeling....yeah i know that SHINee did also song for this but i didn't liked it...Don't hate me it's my opinion...

Rewatch value----I rewatched it already SO MANY TIMES!It's always amazing and still it never get's old!The story should be rewatched often...i'm even up to another korean remake because it would be fun if someone would be as amazing as Lee Min Ho in lead role but still i highly doubt it.So if you still didn't watch it u should right now!I didn't find any bored moment only funny and sometimes sad!

I honestly thought I did a review on this one.. First of all I have seen all the versions of this drama that has been made, but this is the one that I will watch over and over again.  The cast is TOTALLY AWESOME.   The chemistry was there from beginning to end was just fantastic.   I never got bored watching any of the episodes.  I had what most would call second lead syndrome.  I totally love Lee Hye YoungKang Hee Soo [Joon Pyo's mother]  is was awesome playing the villain in the drama.   There is nothing not to like about it.  I do have one tiny little complaint..I wish it was longer or had a second season to wrap things up.  

The music was beautifully done. My favorite is Because I am Stupid song by SS501.

I just feel that the story loses its focus.

This drama initially captivated my attention, particularly due to the compelling portrayal of the main couple, whose humor and charm were undeniable. Junpyo adeptly maintains an outward facade of a mature, affluent individual to his peers, yet beneath this veneer, he grapples with the absence of proper parental affection and struggles with his own emotional turmoil. His profound affection for Jandi, who also contends with conflicting emotions toward Junpyo, forms the crux of their dynamic, as she vacillates between disdain and affection, akin to navigating a precarious tightrope of emotions. Their interactions are imbued with delightful moments, showcasing their palpable chemistry.

However, my enjoyment of the drama waned as it progressed, primarily due to the succession of contrived plot developments, such as Jandi's association with the model boy, Junpyo's forced marriage, and his subsequent memory loss in the final episode. These narrative twists gradually eroded the natural chemistry between the main characters, transitioning the tone from lighthearted and engaging to somber and disheartening. By the conclusion, I found myself rooting for Jandi to pursue a relationship with Jihoo, as their chemistry appeared more genuine and enduring, while the connection between Jandi and Junpyo seemed strained and fatigued.

In hindsight, I believe the drama would have benefited from a more concise narrative, spanning perhaps 12 to 16 episodes, to maintain the integrity of the central romance and prevent the dilution of its emotional impact.

Abysmal

This is what got me into dramas, so I feel bad giving it such a low rating, but it really is basically unwatchable for me now. I tried to rewatch it for nostalgia's sake last year, but I found it unbearable. The storyline is cliched, but that is really the least of this drama's problems (I actually love Hana Yori Dango and the original Meteor Garden, which follow the same story). The acting is awful, the details of the plot are made painfully repetitive by the poor direction, everything feels contrived and the romance is completely dead. There is no chemistry between the actors, everything is ridiculous, the music is horrific, everything is annoying.

Skip this.
