In both Dramas we have a strong-minded/quick-to-fight, main female lead, and a rich/bratty/stubborn/childish male lead.
The differences between those two dramas, is that in Promise Cinderella, there is a 10 years age difference between the main leads; while in Hana Yori Dango all the characters had the same age.
Excluding the age difference, everything else is the same.
Promise Cinderella it's a fun thing to watch if you want to see sth at the end of the day, but you can't take it 100% seriously.

If you loved Oguri Shun in Hana Yori Dango, a natural progression is Hanazakari no Kimitachi e. Hana Kimi has a much lighter and quirky tone, but jdrama is by far my favorite adaption. Yes, I have watched the Taiwanese and Korean Dramas. Oguri Shun, Ikuta Toma and Horikita Maki make up a strong center cast! Ikuta steals the lime light!
Similarities:
- Their relation changes through story: from enemies to lovers
- Rich guy / poor girl relationship
- Guy is spoiled but he changes and becomes a better person because of the girl
- Girl is kind, helpful and tough, she doesn't give up easly
- I kinda feel that DDYD is next adaptation of original story presented in HYD based on manga/anime
- School / romance / comedy

Makino Tsukushi is the only poor student at Eitoku Gakuen, a school for the ridiculously rich and privileged. Eitoku Gakuen is ruled by the Flower 4, or otherwise known as the F4, a group of four boys who come from extremely powerful families: Domyoji Tsukasa, the leader and heir of the Domyoji World Finance Group; Hanazawa Rui, the introverted son of a large company; Nishikado Sojiro, a player who is the heir of a tea ceremony school; and Mimasaka Akira, a madam killer with ties to the underground. If a student gets on the F4's bad side, he/she gets a red notice and is bullied and driven out of school.
Makino hopes to pass her days quietly - without drawing any attention to herself - but one day, she stands up to Domyoji in defense of her friend. The next day, Makino receives the dreaded red notice. Even though she is harassed, Makino decides to keep going to school and declares war right back on the F4, because she is a "tough weed." Her resolve gets the attention of her crush, Hanazawa Rui, and oddly enough, rouses romantic feelings in her worst enemy, Domyoji Tsukasa.
