What's Wrong with Secretary Kim (2018)

Great drama overall. The chemistry between Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young was absolutely fantastic. The plot was original and intriguing enough to not get boring halfway through. I thought it was going to be a typical chaebol drama so I initially very much disliked PSJ's character but that faded rather quickly. 9.5/10 only because it does have the chaebol CEO/subordinate plot, the past history and backstories are just a tad too unbelievable, the OST didn't resonate with me, and the romance seemed slightly juvenile their ages which is all stuff that was just slightly irritating for me personally.

So charming! The lovely Secretary Kim is badgered relentlessly by her narcissistic boss for 9 years until she pays off the family debt and decides she’s had enough! Narcissist boss Lee Young Joon suddenly realizes what a gem she is and thus we’re off to the races to see if narcissist boss has it in him to become thoughtful, kind and warm while lovely, smiling Secretary Kim needs to stand her ground in order to figure out what she wants in life. Overall, I’d give this series high marks because despite Lee Young Joon’s personality disorders, he’s actually a multi-dimensional character and has the ability to grow as a person. Secretary Kim is definitely the more stable of the two, but she too needs to learn how to be his equal in confidence. It’s sweet to see how the two grow together as a couple even as various challenges present themselves. Worth re-watching for sure!!!

Very cute romcom

Like Love in the Moonlight, I'm putting this on hold. The plot is not very original, but the execution of it is quite fresh - the funny sound effects, the superb acting... This show is really cute and the first few episodes are hilarious. I laughed a lot. But once again, once the romance plot begins in earnest, it gets kind of boring to watch coz it gets very predictable and I didn't really feel like the two leads had a lot of chemistry. I actually ended up being more interested in all the non-romance scenes among all the side characters. The side characters are all really funny and endearing. Also, I really liked what the two leads did with their roles.

Unfortunately i did not like this drama. I am a person who loves - romantic dramas and love write good reviews.

I usually complete a drama before commenting. Somehow this drama did not get me... I watched only 6 episodes and got so bored to death with a typical lala land romance and felt didn't want to continue it so I decide to drop the series without even to curious about the next remaining episodes.

The humor in the series was entertaining but there is nothing to gain and the story seems so dull and only a common love story. Not sure why this drama has high ratings. Sadly this is not my cup of tea :(

literally on the 4th episode and can't get pass it

first of all, I am so disappointed. I started this drama thinking it'd be interesting and nice but I was so disappointed. I was on the verge to drop the drama so bad after episode 2.

So I read some of the reviews that were spoiler-free and I agree with some of them. I feel like they are just dragging it at this point. I don't think there's any chemistry between the female lead and the male lead. I had such a hard time watching the episodes after episode 3. Not gonna lie, the first 2-3 episodes were interesting, then I just felt like they're dragging the story. as I read some of the reviews, I figured out I should probably drop this drama because I don't find anything interesting other than the male lead just going around 24/7 to find out why the female lead quit her job. this is the simplest summary I came up with. this guy's secretary quits her job suddenly after working for 9 years and the guy wants to know why she quit so he tries to do everything to bring her back basically and they end up falling in love/getting to know each other more during that time.

Pensei que ia ser um clichê chatão e tomei pela cara. Posso dizer que é um dos melhores que eu já assisti, pois tem romance e muita comédia. Só Deus sabe como me diverti rindo com esse drama e querendo uma vida dessa para mim. Esse não é o meu primeiro drama com o Seo Joon, e muito menos com a Min Young, o que me ajudou a perceber que eles fazem um casal tão lindo. Nunca aproveitei e fiquei animada vendo um drama, no segundo episódio eu já estava tão entrosada na história que esquecia de tudo e nem via às horas passarem. Eu sou uma pessoa que se o drama estiver chato, começo a pular pequenas partes e esse é um que NUNCA pulei. Digo por que já assisti três vezes. Conclusão, recomendo muito. 06/06/2018

En mi TOP de comedias románticas para siempre!!

Esta comedia es un "MUSTWATCH" para todos los amantes de las comedias románticas coreanas. Es una serie tipo "romance de oficina" muy bien hecha, con una ambientación muy cuidada, un guión que no decae en ningún momento y que mantiene el interés y un ROMANCE como pocos. La química entre la pareja protagonista es ya LEGENDARIA, y aunque ya han pasado unos años de su estreno, creo que sus besos no han sido superados que por ningún otro kdrama del género. Su historia de amor es una monada, preciosa, arropada por una troupe hilarante de "secretarios y secretarias" que hacen las delicias del espectador. El resto de secundarios, la familia de Mi so y la familia de Young-Joon están también maravillosos. Un hecho traumático ocurrido en el pasado es la única nota misteriosa y oscura en esta serie tan light y alegre pero este apunte está muy bien enlazado y realza la historia de amor aún más. En su género creo que esta serie roza la perfección. Si no la has visto déjalo todo y mírala. Te dejará satisfecho y feliz des del principio hasta su PERFECTO final.

As of Episode 4, I have officially decided that this drama is trash. The cast is great, but the story -as well as being fairly cliche-is NG.

I get that this story has a lot of secrets that will be revealed "in due time," but beyond that teasing intrigue there is almost nothing else going for this drama. The progression of the romance is weak and unbelievable. The rationale behind the VP's behavior doesn't make sense. I mean, you're together for 9 years and then all of the sudden, let me act a lovesick fool around you. There's nothing gradual with how things are progressing and honestly the romance is taking up too much of the story time. I'm only hanging in there because Park Seo Joon is bae.

I'm skipping over everything else. Will update as the series progresses...if I even make it to the end.

Cliched and predictable

Couldn't watch after the second episode. Everything was too predictable and cliched while some aspects were too farfetched to believe. Logically speaking, the eponymous secretary Kim went into the job for the money so why wouldn't she honestly consider her boss's generous offer, which included a house, to retain her? The excuses were too forced and fake and I just couldn't put myself through this boring BS fest. Oh, and it was annoying having to be subjected to the male lead's showering body a lot. It objectified him just like showing flesh on an unnecessarily scantily clad woman would objectify the woman. You know this show is shallow when they'd use this device to fish for views, and you know it's an artificial device when it added nothing to the storyline.
