I loved this drama! I read the beginning of the original novel and was so excited to see it finally become a drama. I was completely drawn in by the first episode. Zhao Yao was kicking ass so early on!Bai Lu was a phenomenal Demon Sect Leader who didn’t care to be good. I loved that! She wasn’t a goody-two shoes, meek little Young Miss. But she still had heart. Such a well written character with flaws and struggles. Bai Lu portrayed Zhao Yao perfectly. I was hesitant about Xu Kai because I never watched his works before. I was blown away! People thought he was boring, but he wasn’t acting in extravagant actions. His eyes and demeanor showed so much longing and was much more detailed than what meets the eye. He always fought side by side with his lover, never for her. I definitely became a fan of Xu Kai’s after this drama.
There wasn’t only romance but friendship. Like actual FEMALE friendships! Move over, bromance! I always hated it when the other main female character hates the female lead and is the enemy. That happens all the time in C-Dramas. Xiao Yan played a great supporting character doubling as Zhao Yao and Zhi Yan. She comes to care for the Demon Zhao Yao, and Zhao Yao herself becomes soft-hearted for this innocent girl. They become good friends who help each other out when needed.
I really did like this Jiang Wu character until he got too proud and basically overpowers Zhao Yao and Mo Qing. In the later half, Zhao Yao does suffer from injuries which made her physically limited. I didn’t mind that as much as her tolerance for Jiang Wu, who annoyingly ruined her wedding, tried to harass her, and literally imprisoned her man. It was a bit out of character for her to still be laughing and enjoying his teasing. It doesn’t last long, but I still thought it was weird because Zhao Yao is ruthless towards others who hurt the people she cares about. I also found it weird when Zhao Yao had such an emotional response to his character getting hurt, like girl he was the worst!
I’m not giving the drama a full 10 because there was so much filler. The same scene with supporting characters discussing the same thing over and over. Characters who I did not care for getting 20 minutes of screen time. There were side characters I liked watching and they were mainly the friends of the main couple. The editing was annoying at most, but I didn’t mind it. The costumes and production value seems high to me so I don’t know what people are saying about it being low quality. It’s not some small web drama with poor costume designs or bad lighting.
The ending was confusing and it did make me frustrated that they edited it to be so tasteless. My all time favorite drama could have been so good. I can say it was still a good watch and worth it. OST has some good ones, but not many songs. They added a cuter and livelier song in the last episode, which I love.
Rewatch value is high for me. Give it a try if you want more female characters supporting each other, loyal male lead, strong female characters, and a bit of angst but also a bit of fluff.

Funny and Romantic
If they are any users looking for comedy, romance fantasy, badass female lead, cute couple, reborn, revenge, reincarnation, female lead, romantic, xianxia romance, then this is the right show for you. I recommend this because the story plot is 10/10. This show is about a girl who choose to be kind, save those for good deeds and ended up saving a demon also, known as “demon king’s son”. In the end after saving him from almost being killed, others were against her and told her that she was saving someone who could ruin the entire sects. Although the ending was a little push-over, we can’t blame these hard workers. Once again, have a good day and enjoy this wonderful show!❤️Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Great acting but seriously bad editing
I create an account just for this review. Drama had seriously big potential to be a hit drama with the base storyline that they had until you suddenly get slapped by the really2 bad editing especially in the last few episode.Let's face it, we don't have much of a great badass female character and Lu Zhao Yao just happened to be my favourite. Bai Lu embodied Lu Zhao Yao that I can never see other people play the character. She just has that aura and natural charisma. I wish show had treated that better.
Our Li Chen Lan is, well. I love Xu Kai, deeply throughly with all my heart but wtf did they do to the character???
They had all this awesome pairing by half of the series only to ended up none by the end.
Last few episode would make you wonder wth just happened. Even with the last episode, I was like what???
Some people said they had planned for different ending only to change it at the last minute but what the heck is that? I'm just gonna pretend the last episode didn't happened and we ended with episode 54 in the sword tomb.
Lu Zhao Yao and Li Chen Lan has all the possibility to become the most powerful couple but we don't even get that. After episode 35 or something, Li Chen Lan just become a damsel in distress who often need to be taken care of and Lu Zhao Yao is the caretaker.
And while the drama revolved around Wan Jun sword, we never really get to see what happened to that thing at the end. Like all the powerful power just went away like that????? Seriously??
This poor direction just rob us of all the possibility that could make this (of the drama not the acting) drama a successful one.
I'm saving all the compliment for battle moment of episode 54 when Lu Zhao Yao alone battling with Li Chen Lan demon. Doesn't that make you cry?? The love was overpouring in her eyes, trying to save the man she loves who no longer recognized her. That moment alone, deserved a standing ovation. I feel the hurt she felt. And when she stabbed him, God... The looks on her face is just ... Make me feel all the bad editing and execution quite worthwhile.
Drama worth to watch if you want to see some good acting (and if course Bai Lu and Xu Kai) but please be open to every possibility of getting confused and frustrated over the editing and the weak execution of trying to potray whatever the drama is trying to tell you.

Acting - Main actresses were excellent and rest were good.
Production was excellent with good direction, costumes and fight scenes.
Skipping scenes - Skipped some scenes towards the final third as the story dragged a bit due to the love aspects.
Overall - A good wuxia drama - not too serious. Worth a watch to pass time.

Ok for passing the time.
It started out as boring but I managed to pull through. There are too many unneccessary fillers that I felt made the entire drama long and draggy whereby it actually didnt need 55 episodes to run. FL Bailu, as always, nails her roles. Xiao Yan is also an underrated actress, she was able to switch roles and pull off Bailu’s character. Editing was not very well done towards the end. The last episode was really confusing, lots of missing links from one scene to the next. Also, it would have been better if they actually hired other actors to play the main leads’ children instead of themselves.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

I really wanted to review this drama becoz its soo good, this is the first time i m reviewing so please bear with me????...Ok some people might find me biased regarding my ratings but this drama indeed deserves it☺.First of all, the real reason i started this drama was only because the drama's posters looked extremely gorgeous....i had no idea who the casts were since i never saw their previous works but they looked extremely good in their posters photos..so i just started this drama out of blue but who knew that this drama would become one of my most fav dramas of all time.Story: I love the light hearted story of zhao yao, it was not much complicated, everything was smooth....the story is very fastpaced so it got me hyped up without any boring moments, it is one of the rarest drama that i havent fastforwarded because mostly costume dramas i endup fastforwarding...before completing the drama i already read the novel so i knew what was coming, although the production team did change a lot from the original novel but its still good although i would much prefer if they stuck with the original novel at the end,, anyways still it was ok...so i am giving it 10/10 points because i love this story about Demon kings son & demoness unlike many dramas out there who mostly focuses on heavenly stuffs....
Acting : Omg the leads performance were on point..i fell in love with the main lead guy, he is extremely talented...the love he has for our demoness could be seen right through his eyes,there was no need to utter any words, he was that good....The female lead what can i say...she is stunning.....what i love more about this drama is the strong female lead as most of the drama end up giving us weak female which has become intolerable for me now......must say zhao yao is my most fav female leads ever....All the other actors have performed really well...huge round of applaus for all of them????
Music : i saw many of the reviewers gave music very low ratings...but i personally loved all the songs,it really fitted them very well & the opening theme bgm is my fav❤ but they could have added more so i removed 0.5 ????
Rewatchable value : omg yes 100% ❤ i m rewatching it again becoz the leads chemistry is sooo amazing....they looked asif they were indeed in love with each other☺gossshh i get butterflies???? they r one of my most fav couple ❤
Although the editing team screwed up in last few episodes but it didnt bother me much since what i m concerned was my CP's happy ending which they got..So, despite the flaws this remains my fav drama of 2k19 so far❤❤❤❤❤if u havent started or wondering whether it is worth it, o man it definately is worth the watch, go and start now????

Good points
1. Great chemistry between two leads, both Xu Kai and Bai Lu did a pretty good job.
2. Supporting casts are pretty impressive as well, especially Jiang Wu and Qin Zhi Yan.
3. Interesting storyline, and not very bad CGI. The cinematography is nice and costumes that Zhao Yao wore are really beautiful.
4. The character build-up is really innovative. I have never watched a drama, in which both of the leads are portrayed as evil characters.
5. The sismance between Zhao Yao and Zhi Yan is really funny.
The early 35 episodes are really good but after that, the story start getting a little boring.
Bad points
1. The editing is really mediocre, especially the ending. I am not saying whether the ending is good or bad but it was edited really badly. It is really confusing to understand how the story gets from one point to another in the last two episodes.
2. There are so many repetitive flashback scenes in the last few episodes. I accept fillers but not repetitive fillers.
3. It is a lengthy drama, I believe it should be 45 episodes at most.
Overall, thus drama is not very bad considering that the first 35 episodes are impressive. If you love a badass female lead, this is the right drama for you.
You should watch a YouTube video that explains the ending, so that you will get a proper understanding.

This drama is meant for Kailu fans
For those who love to see their chemistry in Arsenal Military Academy, this one might be good to make up for what you missed.It was good on early episodes but getting really draggy on later episodes. I pushed fast forward button a lot while watching. I wish they could make it based on the novel and didn't add too many unnecessary changes to the plot and the characters.
Bailu is a good actress and Xukai isn't bad either. This drama also has a lot of good supporting actors and actresses. The most stand out one is Shane Xiao.
I can't give this drama a high rating because of these factors, but it may be good for Kailu diehard fans.

Xu Kai is so hot, his eyes and smile is to die for. Bai Lu is very pretty, she is a strong character.
I love the romance between the leads, everytime they are on screen together, its captivating and you just want to keep watching. Wish those scenes were extended. Felt like in every period Cdrama these days, leads don’t seem to get as much screen time as the other characters, even when the audience only wants to watch them.
Drama has too many filler scenes which I did not watch and just fast forwarded. The ending also has messy editing which made the drama confusing. Should have just halved the content and watch the leads on screen. Rewatching the lead scenes and listen to OST. Totally addicted to them.

Biased review
Loved it, just simply loved and have watched 4 times already (they wont be the last) . Ive spent the best part of 18 months trawling through kdramas/films, chinese dramas/films for characters and a story like this (i found this gem about 8 months ago). A powerful female not turned into a mans puppett and a demoness (or called that at least). Yeah the body double part does kinda make this show a bit hard to take but she remains at least a bit evil through that. Demons win and the so called rightous side finally bloody lose, whats not to love about this. Lead actress is stunning when dressed up as well.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
