I loved this story! From Tomo and her initial homophobia and transphobia to her gradual embracing of both her gay friend (did I understand that arc correctly? I'm so confused about what was happening there.) and her trans aunt.
I loved Rinko's temperament, and how she was so beautiful and gentle compared to the people around her. But at the same time I think this enforces this Asian idea that because as a gay/trans person there is something wrong or disappointing about you, therefore you need to be 100 times better than everyone around you. I don't know if I was the only one who got that message? IDK.
The ending was so sad. But so realistic. Yes Tomo loved Rinko as a parent figure, but at the end of the day her mother is her mother, and no matter how horrible your mom is, she is your mom. Maybe as an asian this is my feeling, but I totally get the ending. It resonates with me so strongly. Like yes, I really want Tomo to be with her uncle and Rinko, that would be the best ending, but I get why she goes to her mom. But I also love that Tomo stood up to her mom when her mom was berating Rinko for not knowing what being a mother or a woman is.
I loved the uncle. I loved the conversation that Tomo and him have about how he fell in love with Rinko and how in the end his love was true so it didn't matter that she was born with a male body.

I really enjoyed this film it reveals a lot about life that's what I love most about it, it shows the real world in just two hours.you would feel connected to the film. you feel the emotions of the actors you feel the story it's really a beautiful story I really love that the author and the director shows us true feeling and the truth about lgbtq Plus it showed the hard part of being a transgender that this people need babies but can have them naturally and theat the Society keeps judging them
But at the end even if you're transgender you can still have a family love and be solved with the same woman love that real women have doesn't matter who we are love always conquers love always finds its way deep within also I like that this film shows that if we are pressed or suppressed our children and not show them that we care about the way they feel and not support them that things happen but if you support them and walk with them show them your love don't make everything normal in-between your terms but let the normal be within each person and let us live life to the fullest with our own not what the next person's normal

[WARNING: the rating and review I give have the possibility to be subjective due to my preference for the genres, scenes or casts]Why 9/10? Because the story is really great for me. That's really play with my emotion. Yes, there's a funny scene―to be honest, I really shock saw Toma wearing woman's clothes hahaha―but the depth of this story really reach my heart. The acceptance from Rinko's mother is really great. Not all parents can do that. I think most parents will do what Kai's mother did. At some point Rinko explain what happened to her pee-pee and I was like ... 'okay' with the straight face hahaha.
And why not 10/10? That's because I hope Tomo will live with Makio and Rinko, not come back with her Mom hahaha.
