Just to add on to what MeiLi wrote. My father died of liver cancer. Usually, liver cancer is discovered too late for transplant. However, if discovered early, an operation to remove the part with cancer growth is one alternative and the liver will grow back. Transplant of liver is another alternative used when surgery to remove cancer growth is not possible. By the way, from what I see, the writers and directors did a fantastic job portraying how the pain of a patient having liver cancer. The swelling is true and the pain at the stomach is also true. When the liver swells, it will cause pressure on the stomach so the pain is there and not at the liver. I was pretty impressed with their research actually.
