Ok, this is one of my favorite dramas of 2015. I read some of the reviews before writing this and I was like... really? This drama gave me a ton of feels and kept me looking forward to the next episode each week. Compared to the other airing drama that I was watching with this which is still stuck on ep 3 (sorry High Society), this one, I was supposed to watch with my friend but I could never wait for her so we ended up watching this separately.

STORY
Byun Ji Sook is a hard worker trying to help her family get out of debt. Seo Eun Ha is a rich girl who doesn't really have to work hard for anything. They look alike but their not related. Circumstances happen that end up with Byun Ji Sook taking over Seo Eun Ha's life. How long can you keep a secret? How long till living a lie eats you up inside. A story about greed, revenge, family politics. This story has everything, romance, mystery, drama, intrigue, slice of life. Whenever a drama takes me on an emotional roller coaster, it's a good one for me.

ACTING/CAST
Soo Ae was pretty good at portraying two characters who are polar opposites from each other. I've only seen her in one other show and it was the movie "Sunny" which I can't really say I liked her acting there. I can't remember her acting there. >_<
Joo Ji Hoon, what can I say, I just love him. I love his stares and this acting reminds me of when he was Prince Lee Shin in "Goong".
Yoo In Young was pretty good at playing the annoying older sister. She has the perfect villainess look. :D
Yeon Jung Hoon, now this guy wore his mask real well. I don't know how he could keep lying with a straight face all throughout the drama. He is one of the characters I love to hate. I just wanted to shake him.
Hoya, I saw him in "Reply 1997" and I like him in Infinite. But this drama, I really loved him more. He wasn't like in a lot of scenes but in the ones he were in, he's showing some promise with his acting.
Jo Yoon Woo, I want him as my secretary :D. He really cares for his boss and he's just too darn cute.

MUSIC:
Lyn's song "Just One Day" I can just keep listening to it over and over. Navi's "Tell Me A Lie" is pretty good too. I really like the instrumental during the Ji Sook/Min Woo moments.

RE-WATCH VALUE:
Yes, I would re-watch this. I like watching the main characters' journey of overcoming the multiple obstacles to their happiness. How they did their best to protect the ones they love.

OVERALL:
I would recommend it. If you like a little mystery, intrigue, romance with great actors then this drama is a good one to watch.

Well, if you're looking for a drama to keep you hooked from episode 1 to the very end, this is your drama. My god. From the short description on this site, I was not expect so much from this drama but geez did it keep me hooked for a few days. This is also coming from a person who barely watches melodramas.

Story | The whole doppelgänger scenario where something happens to one so the other fills their place. There's also love, loss, family drama etc. The whole works. Story may be a little confusing at first. It goes back and forth through time to explain situations later on. Also give you a headache from trying to guess what is actual and what is not.

Cast | From the main roles to the supporting roles, I loved everyone who was casted. I haven't watched Ji Hoon in a drama since Goong and it was weird seeing him with this serious role at first. But his acting was superb! His character change was natural and nicely paced. Him and Soo Ae were great together. I liked their chemistry but at times I felt like there was more emotion from Ji Hoon's character and it didn't match Soo Ae's as well as I'd hoped. Even so, I loved them as the leads.
Jung Hoon and In Young were simply fantastic! Their acting/chemistry together was spot on. And you know an actor has done their job when you can't fully hate or love their character.
Supporting cast was great too! Family, friends, loan sharks etc I loved. This drama has me waiting for the day when Hoya gets a lead in a drama. And just have to say, Min Woo's assistant was by far the best supporting character in that entire drama.

Music | Besides the instrumentals for scenes, I don't remember much so my score is low.

Rewatch | It's hard to say. There was much suspense in this drama that it'll be hard to watch again since all the twist and turns won't be as surprising. One day I know i'll come back to it because I seriously adored Ji Hoon's acting but as for now, probably not. That's the only reason my score is so low.

Overall | Honestly, maybe the best drama for 2015. I loved it. Truly. I had so many emotions while watching, god..it was terrible! So many twists and turns to keep you into the story. At some point you may think "ok, really. more?" but I was honestly ok with all the back and forth-ness of it all. It made 20 episode go by fairly quickly and though some may say it dragged, there wasn't a boring episode in this entire drama. Give it a try, at least the first 3-5 episodes.

I was first interested because I thought that psychological drama would offer something deep and interesting, and also because the synopsis sounded like a thought provoking drama that would go deeper into things. But that was all false.

Story: First the story and the idea were promising. I was looking forward to how the plot would progress. But as I was watching, I just grew more and more bored. The whole idea just vanished somewhere in the middle, and it felt like the writer just forgot what they were even trying to say. I don't even remember what the underlying idea was, since it's been so long since there was any kind of purpose. There was no idea anymore, and I was left watching two most unoriginal characters falling in love (in most uninteresting way). Which brings me to the next thing ...

Characters: Flat and boring. No dimensions anywhere. There was nothing to wonder or think about. All the characters lacked defining character traits. I was hoping some kind of moral conflict with the main character regarding this whole thing that happened. But she was just annoyingly goodie goodie the whole time. They could've played a lot more with the characters and the plot. There was nothing really memorable about the characters. ESPECIALLY the main characters. Actually, the most interesting character was the villain, even though he lacked personality too. I don't think there was anything wrong with the actors or acting, it's just that the characters were really uninteresting. At least second lead's couple had some interesting conflict and interactions, but the main couple were whining about who gets to keep a flower or who sleeps on the sofa. Please.

More about the story: Some scenes were almost comical, even though they were supposed to be serious. I couldn't take it seriously, and I was just left rolling eyes confusingly. Dramas don't have to be necessarily realistic, but at least make them believable. This drama didn't even try to make sense. And ohmylife, the unnecessary scenes that didn't play any type of role in the plot... This drama just made staring at the walls interesting. There were some nice scenes, mainly at the beginning, but the latter half just ruined the wholeness.

I just hope every single drama writer could adopt this simple rule to their daily lives: if it doesn't take the plot forward, DON'T ADD THAT SCENE. But I guess they have a certain amount of time that has to be filled... But then you should use your IMAGINATION. Ahhh, whatever. I'm so done with this. I'm so done. Cheers to this ''amazing'' drama.

And what was that stupid cliche ending? After all this disappointment, you go and disappoint me even more with your meaningless supposedly philosophical discovery about how meaning of life is to live and be happy? I mean... Just wow, I have never witnessed this type of genius before.
Of course every drama don't have to make me re think everything I know about life, but at least don't pretend to be deep and BE ENTERTAINING. This was just boring. And just like I said earlier, made staring at the walls interesting. I already discovered the many shades of white my walls have that I never knew about before watching this drama.

Since this review has been so negative, should I say something positive too? Hmm... Good looking cast?

MASK

this was considered to be a modern day melodrama. but its just a old stock served in new bottle. story is pretty much cliche as explained in synopsis.
byun ji sook is a poor hardworking emphatetic girl who is suffering from her family hardships. she got a chance to wear a mask and pretend to be a rich woman. but that mask did not made her happy at all. will she continue to pretend like that or take off her mask ? this is the basic premise of the story. similar to bride of century. Yup. Its the same. But this was better turned out and well done drama.

what made this drama good is fine acting, good romance, suspense although with predictable twists. joo ji hoon did a great job despite his role was not important to story that much. soo ae is beautiful elegant and has charming smile, but her acting was just alright for me. i enjoyed the chemistry leads had. especially his trust towards her, even though she had hidden her identity. choi min woo is the best husband one can ever ask.

NOW what made this drama bad is repeated story line with stupid plans and stupid twists to take revenge. Also lead pair always had to suffer, could not fight back till the last episode. change of heart of the villains shown in last episode seems not believable at all. also that unhealthy relationship between suk hoon and mi yeon is very annoying. i could not symphatise with any of them. i had hard time watching with all the flaws. i have held myself back from skim watching or dropping this part of drama. also i feel soo ae could not justify character development at all. her character was supposed to start as doormat woman and end as strong woman with intelligent head over her shoulders. but she could not play that part at all. all she had to do is be cheerful, compassionate and girl who emphatises every one suffering.

ending was also not good. i was disappointed that everyone seem to be fine with what happened with seo eun ha. also seo eun ha was given very less time length in the whole drama, where as she is supposed to be most important character.

music. i enjoyed one particular song that played at the end of all episodes. BGM is fine. i guess so.

Over all i could not rate this drama more than 7. this is because part of which i enjoyed is very short, and part which annoyed me is almost through out the whole drama. drama which started great but everything fell flat later.

i would not recommend this. it has too many flaws to like it. but may be my tastes are different. probably what i hated in this, is what you will love. i am not really sure. -----DISCLAIMER

rewatching is completely ruled out for me

Finally, it ends - and the feeling it instills in me is not joy, sorrow or anguish, but relief! It was an interesting drama, but perhaps deserved a better treatment.

Story: Yet another saga of lookalikes, where one dies and the other takes her place.
Déjà vu?
1. One is poor, the other rich.
2. They are polar opposites in character.
3. The one still alive falls in love with someone related to the one who dies.

But in spite of the predictability (yes it was predictable, and anyone who refuses to acknowledge is blinded by their love for the actors and whatnot), it made for an enjoyable watch.

It revolves primarily around four people (or should I say five?).

Choi Min-woo: The illegitimate son of the chairman of SJ group and heir apparent. It is apparent since his father's only legitimate child is a girl. As such, he is resented by his stepsister and stepmother. With a sad childhood and having grown up without any affection, he finds it difficult to interact with others affably.

Choi Mi-yeon: Min-woo's half-sister who believes that she (and her husband) ought to be the heir to her father's company. Just a pompous rich lady, but we are led to believe that she does care for her brother.

Min Seok-hoon: Mi-yeon's husband, driven by greed. He's willing to go to any length for preventing Min-woo being declared the successor.

Seo Eun-ha: The daughter of a congressman and Min-woo's fiancée. Also the lover of Min-woo's brother-in-law Seok-heon (really? gimme a break! I'm glad she died)

Byun Ji-sook: A poor girl burdened by her family's debts and Eun-ha's lookalike. After Eun-ha's death, she is blackmailed by Seok-heon to take her place and help him in his devious plans. Gradually, she sees in Min-woo his suffering and his longing for love. Motherly care gives way to feminine affection (yay! banzai!!!)

So we have clearly demarcated sub-plots here.
1. Seok-heon will do anything he can to topple Min-woo.
2. Ji-sook and Min-woo will eventually fall in love (everyone knows its bound to happen).
3. Mi-yeon will resolve her feelings towards her brother and husband.

So what made this drama unique? Or is it really unique? I've read people claiming this is the "Drama of 2015", and I believe they said that for Healer and Kill Me, Heal Me as well. I support no such claims, barring the one that this is a worthwhile series. The actors did a magnificent job here and that probably made all the difference. The lead pair shared an awesome on-screen chemistry. It was a treat to watch them fall in love. It was the two of them standing up for each other which kept the series alive amidst all the conspiracies. Soo Ae did a commendable job in both her roles. The scenes I loved most were when Ji-sook tried to understand Eun-ha and realized how different they are. Also, her transition from a timid girl fighting for her family to a headstrong one fighting for the man she loves is zap, just fantastic. Yeon Jung-hoon as the malicious villain is convincing (yes, we do feel he should just die and let us be in peace).

The music is good (can't bring myself to say great), and it suits the story.

Not something I'd like to rewatch, but you never know.

Concluding Thoughts: This is a drama shouldered by good acting and supported by a decent storyline. Though it gets overbearing at times with all the politics, I'd recommend it for a one-time watch. The ending is kinda bittersweet and we do feel sorry for some, but it's all in the game.

This drama started well, the first 10 episodes were really interesting but from episode 11~ it started to be boring and unbearable to watch.

Story: Started well but not so original. I've seen things like those beofor (rich boy -poor girl) but it looked interesting because it had the idea of that poor girl faking her identity and entering the rich family. I thought that the psychological part will take a bigger part in this drama (I almost even didn't see it) that's why I had hopes. As I said before, the story at first was pretty interesting because each episode ended in a cliffhanger so that I really wanted to see what's next. After that, it was dragged until the end, nothing has really changed from episode 1 until 20 in the plot. I think that they could make it a drama of 12 episodes.

Characters/Cast: I don't think that I can say that the whole cast was horrible but Soo Ae was terrible from the beggining. Her face was a pocker face most of the times (even when she had to show emotional expressions), I didn't see any change in her character. I was excepting that she will change, have guts with pretending to be another woman. But at the end she wasn't charismatic untill the drama ended, didn't pretend well, was always caught. she was REALLY annoying to a level that I was literally suffering watching her. I couldn't agree with her behaviour- I mean, this is for her future and life, she could make a better acting and not be such an angel and so unrealistic.(even Eun Ha was a better character than Yi Suk)
Min Ho - was a fine character, didn't find him very appealing, I thought that he wasn't interesting. I don't even know how they fell in love, their relationship was pathetic, I thought that this kind of drama and situations will make them be "madly in love" but they didn't have any deep conversation or just normal conversations. Seok Hoon- He was scary at first but I just grew to learn that he was just a flat character, they could have showen more of his past and intentions and the way he tried to control Yi suk was pathetic at the end, their "trying to be psychological converstations" were just empty and leaded nowhere.
Mi Yeon- She was flat as well, I could see only her bad sides. I could feel for her sometimes but she was only -jealous- or only -insane- Even the supporting characters weren't interesting enough to watch (althought I love Hoya and wanted to see more of his character)

Music: Don't remember it, and don't think that it has a memorable song.

Other points: -I think that for at least, if the drama has a typical story line, it should have good characters/good romance. but this one was disappointing, I didn't feel their love, didn't feel that they were fated, I wanted them to get deeper and deeper into their past, into their lives and althought that they are different, they were meant to each other, but.NO. -The ending was bad . I didn't think that the ending could be a happy one, since althought YI Suk was threatened to pretend to be another girl, she made a crime, and even if she gets punished, she can't live-happily - Also the others; the villian, the character, Soo Ae's family and friends-they didn't show about them and about the tragedy of loosing her. But what they showed was a sentence about "how we should live our life and it's meaning"It wasn't even RELATED to the episode/the whole story. If I wanted to think about life's propose I could have read a book, so I'm sorry but this one was a failure. The reason I gave it a 5 was because of the 10 first episodes .

Rewatch Value: Will just be a waste of time.

I've no idea what happened. I was completely hooked after watching the first 2 episodes - it started with loads of action, tragedy, and steamy excitement! Once Ji Sook started living with Min Woo's family in the SJ home, things started to slow down a bit and got rather repetitive: the villain, Seok Hoon, would threaten or manipulate Ji Sook, Ji Sook would hate it, she'd try to get around him, but ultimately it would backfire, she'd get terrified, and then Seok Hoon got what he wanted anyways, which led him into using her again in his next ploy. It was a vicious cycle that I was willing to witness if it meant that it shaped Ji Sook into a stronger character able to endure such hardship, learn how to play the political game to then stand on her own, amass power, and take down Seok Hoon.

I watched the first 11 episodes with sincere patience in the hopes of witnessing this kind of development, but it still turned out to Ji Sook being terrified and just going along with the villain out of fear over and over again with minimal character development. I was thankful around episode 11 or 12 when it looked like Ji Sook was finally going to fight and I thought, "Yes! This will be her turning point - FINALLY - and she's going to destroy Seok Hoon and take vengeance!" But it fell flat. She fought for a little bit but then regressed and got scared again. All the while, it's implied that Ji Sook and Min Woo were "falling in love"...

But for a melodrama, I was expecting a steamier romance between the 2 MCs but I never really bought into their romance. They didn't appear to have chemistry and so that made it hard to believe their love/interest in each other. They just didn't do enough together to really justify their growing feelings. And they didn't seem to get emotionally involved with EACH OTHER to really illustrate their "growing" feelings for each other. It felt superficial.

In the end, the take down of Seok Hoon was okay but I had envisioned something more climactic. And the ending was dragged out over 3 episodes, but not much of anything happened during that time, so it didn't feel satisfying. Seok Hoon didn't get what was coming to him until the very end of the last episode which was super anticlimactic.
Also, involving Mi Yeon as a petty villain in the final stretches of the drama was really annoying and frustrating to me. She really loved her brother, Min Woo, but her chronic habit to be blind to her husband's (Seok Hoon) evil and treachery was baffling. According to how Mi Yeon and Seok Hoon were portrayed, she didn't really love her husband, she was in-love with the idea of someone loving her (and if her character was really supposed to love him, they did a poor job writing their relationship). My point is, Mi Yeon wanting to protect Min Woo, but also trying to terrorize Ji Sook makes no sense - she knew Min Woo "loved" Ji Sook and that Ji Sook was just trying to protect Min Woo so her malicious interference is contradictory. That was messy and just another "twist" planted with no real purpose. And then they killed off Mi Yeon, which I did NOT see coming. 0.o

And how could Min Woo's father, President Choi, and step-mother be so completely oblivious to what was going on the whole time?! They all lived in the same home and President Choi had to have many resources at his disposal as president of a huge conglomerate, there's just no way he's that dumb. That was just another plot convenience that got on my nerves by the very end.

Overall, I had high hopes for this drama, having over an 8 rating on MDL and such promising reviews and trailers. People seemed to really eat up this drama. But I don't see it. I wanted to enjoy it, but for me to overall enjoy it, the second half of the drama desperately needed to pack a bigger punch. Ji Sook needed to get smarter, amass more power of her own, and take down Seok Hoon (slowly would have been fine if it meant that we got to satisfyingly see his world crumble slowly). Ji Sook's lack of concrete character development as well as poor writing of the romance between Ji Sook and Min Woo are what ultimately bring this drama down. Even Seok Hoon, the villain, was not well flushed out - his desire for vengeance was rather superficial (all over the fact that President Choi smiled at his mother's funeral...really? That's it?).

So anyways, no, I would not recommend this melodrama - the ending, while having a "happy" epilogue in the very end for the 2 MC's, the journey to get there lacked the oomph to make it worth the emotional investment.

This drama is a paradox inside of a conundrum. It does what I hate in dramas so well that it made me love it! I was honestly hooked, in spite of myself, from the very first episode. This is the kind of drama that requires complete suspension of disbelief to enjoy it, and I had no problem doing that for all 20 episodes.

So, what do I hate that "Mask" did so well? We all know in KDramaland that ridiculous coincidences will most likely happen. People often meet in the exact right spot, or miss each other by seconds, or just happen to overhear something they needed to know, or have the exact right thing for the exact right moment... This drama's plot is 99% coincidences. Even how the doppelgänger scenario is introduced is way too coincidental. This usually drives me crazy, because it makes everything so unrealistic, but in Mask's case it didn't matter to me. The more random the coincidence, the more frustrated I got, and the more addicted to the plot I became. Maybe because it adds an element of literally anything might/could happen. The 20 episodes flew by because I was so addicted to finding out what was going to happen next.

The second thing that drives me insane are dumb leads. I spent much of this drama wanting to reach through the screen and slap characters, or shake some sense into them. This usually turns me off to a drama, but in this case I had to keep watching. I will admit that I liked the villains more than the leads. Don't get me wrong, I liked Min Woo and the wife known as Eun Ha's chemistry, and love story, but I still preferred the bad guys, even if I didn't want them to win.

I think the cast did a great job. Soo Ae was good at looking tortured by guilt, or being overcome with grief, while also shining a killer smile once in a while. Be warned that the smiles are not often. She looks depressed for the majority of the show, but with what happens, how can you blame her? Then there's the equally straight-faced Joo Ji Hoon, the obligatory socially awkward rich guy with a short fuse, and issues from childhood. Of course he is still totally crushable and sympathetic as the show progresses. I had totally forgotten what dramas I had seen the two of them in before (he in "Goong" ,and her in "9 end 2 Outs") because they are so much more mature now. Their matter of fact romantic banter was cute, but I did wish there were more romantic moments that weren't so stiff (there are maybe 3 I can think of total). And why did they insist on going to sleep in full outfits? Dude was wearing a sweater??!!! *sigh*... Instead they do a lot of staring, which felt like such a tease. It is still a very touching love story, but there are more emotionally touching moments than butterfly moments.

Now about those villains... I did love to hate the loan shark, but the true power couple from hell is Mi Yeon and Seok Hoon. Yoo In Young plays the most man thirsty woman in the history of KDrama. I just finished watching her be the jealous beyotch in "Oh My Venus", but this jealous beyotch character suited her much better. She was also the one character, in all of this drama's madness, that actually made me cry at all. Then there's Yeon Jung Hoon, the true MVP of evil. I kept rooting for his evil plans, because even though he is basically a sociopath, I respected his intelligence and commitment to revenge. He was my favorite of the cast, so I guess it's about time I check out "Vampire Prosecutor"

Now, would I watch this again? Doubtful. Most of the excitement of this drama was guessing what would happen next. I do recommend it though, especially if you are looking for something extremely melodramatic! There were times when I laughed inappropriately when I should have been sad, or concerned, or times when I cursed loudly at the screen, but there was not one single moment when I was bored. It's a 20 episode drama that I marathoned through faster than some shorter dramas. I'm not sure I would have been able to handle the stress of watching it live and waiting for episodes.

This is a lose sleep kind of drama. Even the last episode threw in some new twists, while still making sure everything was resolved in the end. I'm glad my early misgivings about KDrama tropes didn't make me stop watching. "Mask" really was more addictively entertaining than I ever would have expected.

Although the drama was very confusing at first, Mask turned out to be one of the best dramas I have watched throughout my whole k-drama experience. Not only did it meet my expectations, it exceeded them. I was really hoping that once I watched the last two episodes, it wouldn't do a Who Are You: School 2015 and completely mess up the ending, but it didn't. Everyone ended up how I wanted and expected them to (I didn't predict Mi Yeon's incident though) and to top it all off, it actually made me cry during Mi Yeon's funeral, and Ji Sook and Min Woo's adorable family time with their daughter. It was just perfect.

The synopsis isn't the most original, someone has seen something similar to Mask before, but it absolutely blew my mind away. I love how as the series progressed. Byun Ji Sook's character got smarter and more brilliant, she was able to stand up against Min Seok Hoon and fight against him. And it was the same with Seok Hoon. He was an amazing villain. He truly believed what he was doing was what was best for everyone, and as Ji Sook, Choi Min Woo and eventually Choi Mi Yeon started to retaliate, his plans fell apart and he became more desperate, and would go to more extremes to push forward his plan. It was simply amazing to watch and I would watch it all again right now if I could.

As much as I enjoyed the acting in this drama, Mi Yeon's actress - Yoo In Young - was the only one who felt lacking while I watched this. I've watched her acting before as she played a guest role in My Love From the Stars, but she didn't impress me in that either. Her acting felt very repetitive, especially when she was investigating Ji Sook and trying to get Seok Hoon to stay by her side. It was annoying, but as her character was meant to be like that, I can understand it. Despite her, everyone else was amazing. I've heard complaints about Soo Ae's acting, but she was brilliant in playing both Seo Eun Ha and Byun Ji Sook. I could definitely tell the difference between the two and that takes some skill to do. Joo Ji Hoon perceived his character of Min Woo very well. He showed a great example of a psychiatric patient and a business man. I can understand why Ji Sook fell for him, he's delightful. And lastly, Yeon Jung Hoon was fantastic. With help from the writing, he made the best villain I have ever seen and I'm not very easy to impress.

I absolutely loved the soundtrack to Mask. Each track was beautiful and so great to listen to. I especially liked Just One Day by LYn. I absolutely love this artist's songs, she has such a lovely voice. She also voiced my favourite song in the My Love From the Stars OST. I am looking forward to watching another drama that has LYn in. I'm sure it won't be too long into the future because I'm pretty sure every director wants her voice for their soundtrack. I'm positive.

If I could, I would rewatch Mask right here, right now. But I have a busy life and I don't have enough free time to nonchalantly watch through 20 hours of pure epicness. But I'm sure that when my schedule frees up some more, I'll get round to watching through Mask again.

Overall, besides In Young's slightly disappointing performance, I thoroughly enjoyed this drama a lot and I would recommend it to anyone. I came into Mask with open eyes and when I finished it, I'm glad that I decided to watch it. Mask was one of the most amazing experiences that I have ever seen and you will not be disappointed.

Character developement sucked for Min Woo. He's pretty weak. And his father. Always clueless about everything but is the head boss of a $$$$$$$ company. Makes no sense.

This drama could have ended within the first 10 episodes if people would just speak up. It got pretty annoying at some point because it was just senseless drama being dragged on and on. Why would you keep trusting someone who shows you not to trust them? It got to the point where it felt like your intelligence was being insulted. Like it's obvious some people can't be trusted and it's obvious considering the truth was literally reiterated many times.

Although it was very unnecessarily dramatic in many areas, the end was worth it up until the VERY end where it just ended so abruptly (albeit answering any questions).

This drama is pretty good in terms of keeping you hooked, giving you something to watch but at times it got very disappointing.

In terms of music, it was nice in some areas but mainly it was just repetative. I found myself humming to the cues of the music as they would come because it got SO predictable.

This drama could have been a 10//10 due to strong antagonists and some character dynamics and certain plots. But mainly it both reminded me why i like specifically Korean dramas and why I equally hate them.

As a kdrama fan myself, I seldom write a review for the dramas I've watched. However, I really think I should write about one of the best melodrama in 2015 and give my biggest appreciation for MASK.
MASK started off with a "Yeah, I know it will go that way" story plot, I admit I even thought of dropping it off for the first 10 minutes. But thank God, I did not, because the next 10 minutes was what made me engaged.

Despite of the not so original story plot, what made this drama worth watching was the world class acting from Yeon Jung Hoon. I had never checked out his drama before and I watched this drama because of Joo Ji Hoo. But, Yeon Jung Hoon did a very well done job on his character. His character, Min Seok Hoon, who is a villain, happened to be the first villain I really fall in love with in a drama.

As most people, we never bothered to hate, despise, and berate the villain. We did that, done that.
But, oh boy, I was wrong. I really fell in love with Yeon Jung Hoon and the character he portrayed! I tried to hate him, but no no just couldn't do it.
Min Seok Hoon was a villain (of course!) but he loved Seo Eun Ha like a man loved a woman, despite of all the crazy plans he proposed. One moment he would put on his mask as an evil, another moment he would show that he somewhat cared for Byun Ji Suk (the Doppelgänger), then the next moment he would shed his tears for Seo Eun Ha. This man is just beyond crazy! I just have to give a standing ovation to Yeon Jung Hoon to act this well.

I will not discuss any other aspects from this drama, because the main reason why I decided to write a review on this drama is Yeon Jung Hoon's acting. Well, the other actors in MASK are not that bad, but still, Yeon Jung Hoon deserved a round applause followed by awards because of his actings, he exceeded my expectation.

If you are looking for a melodrama with great actors this 2015, you really should check MASK out. The acting from the actors itself will make you stay put and watch the whole series you just couldn't stop.

I recommend this drama because of the acting. I really loved Yeon Jeong Hoon in here. And also I loved that the female main was capable of thinking on her own, she had a mind of her own. Also, I liked the chemistry between the main leads. Their love story was authentic, I thought.
And, especially in the end, the drama was very intense and I got very emotional because of Yoo In Youngs character. The music was thrilling, not specific, and I wouldn't listen to it like a song, but making your heart beat more also the story was exciting anyway.
I would have liked to know what happened to Yeon Jeong Hoons father in the end and why chairman Seos wife did not appear again in the last episodes.
There was comedy in there too, if not, the drama would be veeery melancholic and even dark.
The main actress wasn't the typical "sunshine girl", she was also good at "not smiling", I liked that.
But the supporting roles were brightening up the party :)

There wasn't much I didn't like, I even would watch it again maybe. Well maybe not, but it's not that impossible than with other dramas. The length fits, too.
In fact, I didn't really like Hoyas acting, I don't even know why. I really liked it in Reply, but now...

Still- big recommendation!
